So your perceived theory is all based on what you WANT to believe then RIGHT?

If the number one poster on ATS wants to take some nobody on an internet forum at their word, when they're not even specific enough to declare that it was their property, then you go right ahead and set that example.

All of which has nothing to do with the price of eggs in China.
Nice try though.

These authoritarian losers will do ANYTHING to try to discredit OWS. From charges of anti-semitism to drug use and ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, they are truly getting desperate. Now we get unverified stories about OWS protesters "stealing" water. When I first read the OP's post, I was kind of on his side, since I wouldn't be okay with people going on my property without asking, but now the details come out and he doesn't even own the property. I lived in an apartment complex like the OP lived in, and all outdoor faucets were communal. This is a whole bunch of NOTHING by an overreacting authoritarian with an ax to grind.

You're so lame you called the cops on people taking some water. You're like that crazy journalist woman who was screaming at kids for giving away free lemonade.

I know...and he's worried about having to answer to the 'owner" for it.. who probably makes a fair buck on his real estate..

I'd use it as an excuse to ask the owner for more pay if he expects me to watch the taps all day, from protestors who are trying to fight thirst.

I have a ring number...all they had to do was ask.
I am not about to turn down a thirsty person.

I will however turn down someone taking without asking.
And yes....I am accountable and might have to hear about this.

You've pretty much said all along that you are waiting for something to get behind, that it is a failure for the main reason of not being a re-elect Obama movement. So if that happened I don't know how you can't say that suddenly these "morons" would stop being so in your eyes. I find that disgusting.
edit on 28-10-2011 by Kali74 because: (no reason given)

Indeed I am waiting for this to be hijacked by someone who can organize it into a cohesive and organized group.

Once that is done and they have a cohesive and focused message and goal...these "morons" won't want to be associated with it anymore...it won't be "cool" anymore...and they will move on to something else.

I have to say...that is becoming less hopeful in my eyes. At this point...I'm hoping they can either play the role of useful idiot and maybe realize who their allies are....or democrats can just use the energy and name without any official endoresment...which is the most likely in my opinion.

You see...let's take Obama for example...he doesn't have to get OWS on his side. He doesn't have to go down and give a speech at an occupation. All he has to do is at one of his campaign speeches say "I hear the OWS crowd...and this is what I have done to answer them". He has done more in the past month to address the issues OWS is complaining about than anyone else has. Bottom line, him or the democrats don't need the support of OWS...they need the support of those that support OWS.

It's all a game...once you realize that you won't get so offended by differing opinions like you are currently doing.

Disgusted by this thread response.

So I need to allow anyone who feels like it to come onto my private property and use resources I am billed for? Water may be a natural resource, but the pipes to run it to my house, the water treatment plant, the workers--those are paid for through my water bill. If they were filling up will large multigallon bottles, they were taking it to use, not because they were thirsty at the moment.

Ask, and you shall receive. Take, and we have a problem.

All of you "Water should be free!" people, realize...clean water that magically comes out of a tap...isn't.

"I bet you will if gets co-opted like you wish it would as a democratic answer to the conservative Tea Party."

In a sad way you are correct... The Tea Party was orginally a Ron Paul/libertarian movement that was co-oped by the GOP power structure to reinvigerate the GOP brand. I can see this happening to the OWS movement in an attempt to boost Obama and the Democrats.

When will people realize that Republicans and Democrats work to serve the corporation and not the interests of the people.

Jessus H Christ! Do we have to have pictures for everything these days or it didnt happen???

You guys have been on this damn site too long. Go out! Get some air! Breathe! Maybe the paranoia will fade...

So what if the guy might be missing something out. The bottom line, wether it's real or not... think about it.. Whats the possibility that this happened? I mean... was it a bloody UFO that stole his water??? No.. It was a couple of "know it alls", not friggin ET. I see aholes like this on a daily basis.. And simply put... Hanging around the seemingly average ATSer today, I think I'm becomming one myself. I guess enough BS is just enough BS.

Oh hell.. we're not just becomming a poor nation of communist facious pigs, but a bloody country of idiots who cant read well enough to see what's in front of their eyes.... Does everything have to be argued? I mean damn people... If someone came up and gave us all a million bucks and TRUE freedom, we'd still complain and argue something wrong with it. Just wow!

Id hate to ask what's next... It's probably just around the corner.

You know what's so funny about this? Banks, greedy corporations and the 1% are scheming, skeezing, swindling and stealing so much more than water and yet people still give THEM a pass and make excuses for Cannibal Capitalism but are quick to condemn an entire movement like OWS based on two jackwagons who may or may not have taken some dude's water.

This world is totally jacked up.

I find it hillarious how so many of you will leap to argue with each other over a post that is most certainly an effort to paint the OWS movement in a bad light. Obvious Troll is Obvious.

I find it hard to believe that the OWS movement left their downtown protest grounds, to wander into some far off residential district to fill up three heavy water jugs. water weighs 8 lbs per gallon roughly. he stated these were nearly the same size as water cooler jugs, which are more often than not 5 gallons? so 40 lbs of water in each hand to lug back to the city.

The poster has been so reluctant to answer the credible questions in this thread, even as far as to ignore any questions that made any sense. I'm not buying it. Large Cities generally don't have publicly accessible utility outlets/water spigots on the outside of buildings without locks on them for this very reason, so we are back to the OP living not in the city proper but on the outskirts, which doesn't mesh up to the details.

Everything about your profile indicates that you joined this site specifically to promote Occupy. That makes your posts biased in that you made up your mind long before this exact incident even happened. And, that's fine, you are entitled to your opinion, that's how opinion works.

Law however is different and we are a nation of laws. Stealing is against them.

What about my profile indicates that? I just now updated it to a few short and vague statements. You're crazy!

Yes, YOU are making sense. Many people on this thread are concerned less about the taking of the water than about the trespassing. First, I am not sure that there is conclusive evidence for them actually having trespassed, based on what the OP has said of them.

Trespass doesn't just refer to land, it also refers to movable property. If I take your water, without your permission, I am committing trespass to chattel. You can sue me for the value of all the water I took. You wouldn't get much, but if you had proof, you'd win.

I can fully understand what the OP is talking about. It's not about the water, it's the helping themselves without saying "Please sir, can I have some more".

You should have wired up the mains to the tap, sat and waited, then flipped the switch...240v AC would ensure they wouldn't come back in a hurry (or 110v over there?).

But other posters are correct, don't let the actions of a couple of idiots spoil it for the rest of them.

Sounds to me like the OP is just sour grapes and has no life.
I can imaginme building super is a real exciting and challenging occupation....
Id bet the tenants are the payees as well for the water.....through rents.
The point you made that you were not in the residence when the two scruffs arrived precludes their asking you for it.
You were out.
I wonder if you even were civil with them before they said buzz off.....
Perhaps YOU came on a bit officious towards them and got them riled.
The water may not have even been for their consumption they may have been getting it for women or children at the protest, if they were even protestors to begin with.
You make the point that theft is theft. but there are degrees of that, and water is hardly something to get uptight about in ten gallon quantities.
Specially when you can always turn off the tap from inside thus ending the whole thing instead of calling the cops to intervene and costing even more dollars of others money than your own/We dont appreciate you wasting LEOs time and resouces on something a mere flick of an indoor tap could fix permanently
Grow a pair of hairy ones and handle yer own troubles if its that simple.
There is really a lot of other stuff far more important going on, but perhaps not in your life........?

Really???

Ya know... I didnt believe people just bitched for the sake of bitching untill I came here. However.. the OP is no where close to that. I got none of it.

Who gives a damn what side the tap is on. Stealing and tresspassing is just that. Did they have a sign on your car claiming it yours before it was stolen?

- Uhhh No... Thats my car. There are laws against that.

No *&^% dummy...

- But there was no sign on the water tap...

No... But there was a friggin house attached to it... apartment, whatever..

The no lifers... to me.. are the ones spending time here complaining that the OP was just BS. I am willing to bet that 90% of the posts on this site is BS, and this one is probably not one.

Oh damn... I'm doing the alternative.. Same thing in my scheme of things... Im done with this one. Children WILL be children.

The discussion here is the possible rights and wrongs that happened solely BASED on the story of the OP. If we are questioning every threads truth and we must verify before discussion there would be no threads!

If we don't take the story tellers word for what happened then why be in this discussion at all? Why would you continue to argue your point when you think it didn't even happen or it happened in some way that some of you decided to imagine in your own mind with zero facts for your beliefs..
