That is BS. A smoker is a drug addict at the end of the day. They will sell their own children to get a cigarette.

Smokers have long been a useless part of society. People who slowly kill themselves and pay a fortune for it....How dumb does one have to be. I my opinion and its just mine, smokers should not be entitled to free medical or any government or state benefits. They should be outcast and have no rights. After all they smoke willy nilly abusing non smokers rights all day, blowing their poison into the air.

Smokers are just weak, take away their cigs and they become a pest!

Back to point.......If the proverbially SHTF, there is no more electricity. You would be unable to recharge your e-cig. Your solar charger would be fried. A couple of posters have been on topic and said the same. The OP mentioned that the e-cig could be emp proof, however the rest of the electric grid is not. So no charging up the e-cig folks. Your best bet, buy a few cartons for your stock pile. They would be good just for bartering if you do not smoke.

This was made into an entertaining thread. Good to know e-cigs can help people quit smoking, I am going to buy one for my pops.

Really? Huh, I didn't know. Just kidding. I know all that stuff. I know it so well. Smoking is bad. It causes bad things to happen and horrible death. It smells. It causes lung disease and cancer. Do you think smokers haven't heard it all a million times? Do you think we don't know? Didn't you know all that each time you lit up? I'm sure you did. It's a bit insulting to think we're ignorant to those facts, don't you think? There are such die-hard smokers that will watch someone die from smoking and then go light up. If watching a loved one die from smoking doesn't do it, nothing will, especially the anonymous words on a message board. No one is going to quit until they do it of their own accord. If ecigs weren't an option, I'd still be smoking. I won't pretend otherwise.

But what needs to be stressed is that it's the smoke, not the nicotine that is the killer. And for those out there who can't or won't "just put it down," the smoke can be a death sentence. Using nicotine in a less deadly way is a complete win for those who have tried quitting smoking over and over again, with little to no success.

I'm as much of a slave to nicotine today as I am to caffeine. I've cut all the bad out of smoking while still maintaining the habit that I actually enjoy, all the while I'm no longer harming myself or anyone else. I'm okay with that. But this thread has gone way beyond off-topic, so...that's my half a cent.

but its rare that i get to see ANYTHING about smoking anymore
i remember being a kid and seeing commercials and whatnot all over the city
anyways, i doubt that 666 guy is a true satanist, because some of the principle beliefs of satanism are not harming plants animals or children, and not broadcasting to the world what your faith is.

and for the sake of smoking, ive been smoking since i was 11. I am now 18 those e cigs are just too weak for me, i smoke menthol and i find that many of the flavors leave a bad taste in my mouth, and make me drink more(for the survival part)
and i suggest that if you happen to be in a public place(lets say New Orleans) and there is a smoker breathing his super evil nazi death smoke towards you, just either calmly, and the key word here is calmly, ask them to try to avoid your face with their smoke, or just find another place to sit

The OP says e-cigs arent mouth drying...I have to say that is false...I have been "vaping" for a year now and I have to drink MUCH more fluids than when smoking cigs...I reccomend getting the "DARWIN" it has variable voltage and can go on 3 days at least with one charge...check it out at www.evolvapor.com its pricey but SOOOO worth it! I use e-juice from backwoodsbrew.net(amazing tobacco flavors) and tastyvapor.us(everythhing else lol)

Smoking during the time that TSHTF will betray your whereabouts to those that would find you to do harm to you.

An e-cig would still work and could be charged. Older cars that dont have all the electronics in them are EMP proof. Thus the e-cig could be charged off the car battery via the car cigarette lighter port. Most car batteries are not effected by EMP's.

There are also homemade Earth Batteries that could either charge power or supply power to your e-cig. It is easily possible to EMP proof small items and you could totally EMP proof an e-cig and solar charger. You could find tons of batteries that have no protection circuit or diodes in them and they would survive an EMP too.

Wind and water power generators could also charge e-cig batteries. There are tons more possibilities. Ever seen a tobacco store during or after a hurricane or tornado? Those cigarettes go fast with no way to get more. Having a large supply of e-cig liquids on you will stretch much farther. They can last for up to 2 years if you have enough before they start to go bad.

In an EMP situation the e-cig and e-liquids can easily outlast tobacco supply.

Unlike regular cigarettes, e-cigs can be odorless, with invisible vapor, and no glow of the coil. I could be vaping right next to you and you would never know it. People have already perfected techniques for "Stealth Vaping" because many people use them in places where they are banned.

This thread is about utilizing e-cigs in a SHTF situation because they can have many benefits over tobacco cigarettes.

Sure many of us who use them love them and love talking about them, and we recommend them in general but no one here is advertising a brand or forcing anything on anyone. This is just like any other survival thread where people recommend other products for use in a SHTF situation. Buy 160z bags of Rave, and rolling papers. It's $34.99 for a 1lb bag. You can roll a whole carton for $40 as apposed to buying cartons at $90.. Ciggeretes would be very important if SHTF. As you said they would be as valuable as money, not that money would have any value if the scenario you listed happened.

As to using E-CIGs. I'm learning more and more about how harmful the vapors are. Sure it's just water that is split by a ultrasonic sound maker "this is how you get the vapor". Fact is you are inhaling WATER. Depending on how heavy of a smoker you are this can be a very very bad thing to do. If you smoke a pack a day and moved to the ecig you might as well inhale a spoon full of water right into your lugs EVERYDAY. I'm sure all of you who smoke the ecig cough a lot more then you did when you smoked the real thing right? You think your coughing is attributed to quitting smoking ...Well it's not. You are now coughing more because you are inhaling WATER INTO YOUR LUNGS. Ecig is not even approved by the FDA, and E-Cig's have no clinical study's.. I can't wait for commercials at 4AM saying "Have you recently suffered lung issues after using a e-cig? You could qualify for financial reimbursement"

Um just a few observations... In said scenario the probability that the dollar continues to be in use - very, very low - barter will be the principle form of commerce. While cigs are good there are a lot better and cheaper stores that will give much higher returns.

As we've seen in other disaster situations there are no emergency stores, everything needs to be shipped in. If the electronics of all vehicles are fried there's no way to do this and people will start starving to death shotly after the event. So basically you want to make a bet on when some semblance of infrastructure will be reinstated and hedge your bets trying subsistence farming. A good minimum 3 months, if you have survival rations to cover this amount of time you can consider any surplus as barterable. Coffee and sugar for example will become quite rare and therefore very valuable, much more so than tobacco.

Disaster preparedness is no joke, you know you won't be able to count on the government for any help - remember Katrina? There's a lot more to consider and you'd better get busy, the apocalypse is near.

Solar charging panels would survive an EMP. No electronics in the design. People would also have gennies to run laptops, USB available.

Plus, they are MANY like me with a solid understanding of electronics and how to "solder in" workarounds. There is no doubt we could get things working again. My fear is the battery. It needs to be stockpiled, and can only be recharged so many times. Of course, by then, there is no doubt we'll have another solution.

Not sure if dumb or just trolling. Ok, I'll bite.

I smoke tobacco. I smoke unfiltered lucky strikes. I smoke these while doing physical labor on the job, while lifting hundreds of pounds of steel with my hands. Often I smoke lots of them while in 105 degree weather on 12 hour shifts. I do this while digging ditches and operating a pick axe among other things. So please show me weak. Are you referring to physical weakness? Maybe you are referring to mental weakness? Guess what, I quit smoking all the time. I do not smoke off the job and when I'm not working overtime I quit all together. If I don't have smokes I still operate.

Smell? Who can smell the tobacco smoke when I'm sweating out 2 gallons a day in the sun. Hell the smell of burning steel tends to wash even that out.

As far as claiming to be a drag on the medical system, that is just ignorant. Once the Czech Government considered outlawing tobacco to save on social medicine. They changed their minds after research as they found out smokers die quickly costing little. Non smokers remain in an ill state for years requiring all kinds of pampering.

Its good to know that your highly enlightened mind finds obesity to be equal pedophilia. I think that's a little bit overzealous myself. Ignorance is your religion. Time to cut in line.
