You're referring to the black circle superimposed over the image of the Sun, correct? [**]

Firstly, to those who suggest it might be the Moon, that is certainly incorrect, since the Moon's apparent diameter when seen from Earth is approximately the same as the Sun's. Hence, "total" Solar eclipses.

Also, do not fall into the trap of fallacious reasoning just because the photo is from Antarctica. All of us who view the Sun from this planet would have been able to see essentially the exact same view, were there to be a celestial body of some type out in space, in between Earth and the Sun.

Most likely, what you have there is a camera CCD array that is in bad need of replacement, as the sensors are getting overloaded by the intensity of the Sun's brightness.

[**]Edit - Or, could it in fact be the Moon rising, as mentioned below? I had not taken time to check dates, Lat/Long position, and Sun/Moon schedules. However, if it is the Moon being overexposed then the same considerations as above re: the camera being the culprit.

you do realize all these people make money off people who visit their youtube accounts right? They know its just a hoax, but they rack up on suckers who buy into this stuff.

as for "UrsuAdams" he gets debunked so much it's actually pretty sad.

The first photo you have put up could possibly be a lense artifact. There was another post here yesterday claiming that a lady had taken the same picture of the object you have but in a video. Another video was posted also in the thread showing how this could possibly be debunked by simply spinning the camera around and the object would move accordinly.

As for the others, you have got me beat. Could be the moon but the best option would be to head back to the 19-10-2011 and find out where the moon was at this time. If it is not there, then someone else can try to explain to me aswell what it is..

If you watch the videos from the YouTube accounts I posted, especially UrsuAdams, who has been doing the Neumayer discussion intensely all year long and has a lot of contacts and network who share info, that is not the moon.

That isn't the object the OP is referring to. Take a look at the photo posted below you. That is the object in question here.

It's the moon, it looks like the shutter from the camera stayed opened too long, and was exposed too to much light, I know people like to believe that some planet x is coming to kill us all, but there is no proof or even signs that support this..and all these videos showing planet x have been debunked as lens flare (something we've been seeing ever since camera were first taking pictures..

I went further into analyzing the first photo in the thread I posted a link to under the first photo. At the time, I dismissed it as Venus since you can see the rings of Venus in an enhanced photo comparison I posted later in that thread.

But this certainly is not Venus.

Unless the Moon is supposed to be here... I'm really puzzled.

OP This is only the Moon and not something else!

These images in your post from Neumayer station dated the 19/10/2011 coincide perfectly with the Calculations of Sunrise and Sunset & Moon Phases for Neumayer, Antarctica on 19/10/2011

Nothing to see hear keep moving its swamp gas.. I mean a weather balloon. It looks like the moon to me since the sun doesn't set there for a while you should be able to land a good moon pick everyday they both stay on the horizon. Something fishy with how the moon was that thin without being in earth shadow. Or it was a lens flare I've seen some crazy lens flare video's before

If you look up the month of October you'll see that many celestial bodies will make their appearance this month.

I agree with what others have said, the new photoset and "video" is nothing but a lens flare.

The lit side of the alleged object is on the opposite side of the light source, it can't happen if it's an object that's being lit. That side of the object that you're pointing too should be completely dark, if it were an object.

See.. this is why I have to stay off this site! It's too addicting!

I checked out your link and went further into the data. I could only bring up the data for Neumayer for 20-October. I don't see any time comparisons related to the Moon and Sun except for what is in bold below. They don't coincide. I'm not sure about the Sun angles, but I don't see any angles for the Moon we could compare them too. I would like to see a good graphical celestial chart looking N from the station during the time of this video. "View from the communications radom to the north side of the base."

I was saying that many other videos that actually show something, may be showing a known event. Yours appears to be a lens flare, the lighting is wrong for it to be an actual object.

Thank you for your reply, but no... I'm not referring to that at all. I'm aware that digital cameras process extremely bright light as black since they can't process it. I'm referring to what comes behind the Sun. I have red arrows pointing to it in the photos and it's not a lens flare. I've seen plenty lens flares and unless someone can post an example of a lens flare that looks like a huge planet, I won't be convinced it's a lens flare.

Thanks for taking the time to share this. I find it very interesting! Maybe there's a brown dwarf hanging out there by the sun? I think it looks like it could be a dim star or planetary object.

thx for the above link. I had not seen it.

well that is very interesting. The data does not correlate with the anomaly. So it is definitely not the Moon or Sun?

what else could it be?

Ah, so.....

I'm not referring to that at all........I'm referring to what comes behind the Sun.

In that case, my original points [minus the bits about the black spot] still hold validity....in terms of the fact that if something of a celestial nature were somehow *lurking* there, it would be equally visible from any place on the planet [not just from Antarctica] when the surface of the Earth was turned towards the Sun.

There are also the two spacecraft observatories in the Sun-Earth Lagrange points L4 and L5.

This is the STEREO mission.

With those viewing positions some 50° - 55° or so (per the illustration in the link) ahead and behind Earth, on orbit, seems quite unlikely anything could be "hiding behind" the Sun, not with our modern tools of astronomy, and modern understanding (so far) of our own Solar System.

Have heard no hue and cry from the people reviewing those images, as yet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Er...um, erm....I went to have another peek at the OP photos....some of the upper portions on some photos are cut off, date and time, but they appear to be sequential in time, as posted.
So, here's another observation....although the Sun moves as expected in each successive photo, as the planet rotates, the general position of the "thing" does not. That is a rather major clue right there that points back (no pun) to the camera itself, or some aspect of the equipment, I would think.
Any large celestial object at planetary distances cannot "hover" in our sky. The rotation of the planet is the obvious give-away here.
