So Israel gives them what they want and are still drug through the mud.

Typical ATS.

Careful guys and gals. Your obvious bias is showing.

Unless you are Jewish, attached to a foreign embassy, you're with a foreign military, you were one of those foreign workers cleaning Israeli homes, or work in the white sex slave industry; I say you have NOT lived in Israel because I know how their visa system works for foreigners!

No; you mean when an Arab murders an Arab not a single word out of your choppers but when an Israeli kills an Arab you cry foul and rubbish the Israelis.

The symbolism of 1000 people can also be the fact that Israel killed 1000 Palestinians in the Gaza war.

I have to say that its refreshing to see that Israel and Palestine can get along on something. It has been too long since last time that happened. There are channels for dialogue open now, and I hope they will be used wisely.

But I'm sick of you guys trying to smear everyone, I haven't seen a single user here cheer for a terror attack, or even justify it. In fact, I see the opposite. I see people saying the same thing I'm saying. Israel is the aggressor, Israel is breaking international law, but killing from either side is WRONG. Acts of terror are wrong, be is a suicide bomber, or state sponsored terror like that of the Settlers.

Both sides are killing innocents, and you can try to make it ok because "Israel tries not to target civilians" and you can blame it on Hamas like Shotgun bob, but the fact remains, both sides are the problem, and both sides are the solution.

We can easily support the Palestinians while NOT supporting the terror. But it doesn't matter, because we're antisemites for even thinking the Palestinians deserve a chance. We're antisemites for not understanding that every single arab on earth is a jew hating monster.

Get bent.

I agree with your sentiments in maintaining a sense of objectivity in order to gain a clear understanding of the situation.

Forget about the preconcieved notions and fallacies that support false propaganda on either side of the equation.

Let's look at the facts that present an obstacle to peace in the region:

-Israel has built settlements in disputed territory

Solution: Israel relinquishes occupied land. The problem is, the last time that happened, Hamas seized the land from the PLO in a bloody coup and fired rockets on Israeli civilians from closer range.

-Israel must negotiate a two state solution

Solution: Israel should agree to the terms of the Palestinian Statehood bid presented by Mahmoud Abbas to the UN based on 1967 borders. The problem is, Hamas, which controls Gaza, was openly opposed to the UN bid because it was based on the premise of partitioning the land with Israel. The Hamas charter does not recognize Israel's right to exist, period.

In other words, if Israel comes to terms with Abbas and the PLO which controls the West Bank, the other half of the Palestinian population in Gaza is represented by Hamas, a terrorist regime/governing body that will never agree to a peaceful two state solution regardless of the perameters.

Now what?

No Israeli goes in to the IDF knowingly sacrificing themselves. IDF is COMPULSARY service and NO Israeli expects to leave the IDF in a box!

Unlike the Palestinians, Israelis celebrate LIFE.......Palestinians celebrate DEATH!

Let me repeat a recent post......

As the Palestinian terrorists/prisoners were being swapped at the Rafah crossing and in the West Bank today.......HUNDREDS of Palestinians were rioting in Betunia throwing rocks at the IDF as they were releasing prisoners.....

www.israelnationalnews.com...

I'm trying to find an article on Israelis throwing rocks at Hamas operatives and Palestinians as they were handing Gilad Shalit over to the Egyptians.......nope, it appears the Israelis were too happy to see their brother!

A man walks out of 5 years of captivity and can still talk about peace, and you denigrate that nobility by calling him brainwashed?

I am glad he is home, and I am glad that he is apparently not full of hate. That is cool, that is not brainwashed.

Ideally, one would hope that this historic deal will facilitate the peace process in the region.

Unfortunately, I fear that it will only motivate Hamas and Hezbollah to abduct more soldiers and commit more acts of terrorism. I sincerely hope I'm wrong.

Gilad did not discuss peace at all on Egyptian TV; he said he would support all Palestinian prisoners being released if they did not return to terror. Of course Gilad is going to say that while still on Arab soil! I paid attention, you did'nt.

Fact is 60% of Palestinian terrorists/prisoners DO return to their old ways....except this time they won't get a second chance if they do so!

Hamas frees Israel's Gilad Shalit in prisoner swap

www.cnn.com

Palestinian inmates began leaving Israeli jails early Tuesday, setting in motion the historic swap that will trade more than 1,000 Palestinian prisoners for one captured Israeli soldier.
The Israeli public overwhelmingly supports the swap for Shalit, an Israeli army sergeant who was abducted in a raid in 2006, when he was 19 years old.

It goes to show how cheap a Palistinian is these days. It takes one thousand of them to purchase one Israeli. They can hold their heads high in Israel today.

But the 1000+ prisoners are not being released to freedom they are being released to Gaza which is effectively an Israeli controlled concentration camp.

Yes, of course.

Maybe if you ever took the time to actually research what Gaza is really like, you would have a clue of what you're talking about.

Better yet, visit Gaza in person. Oh, and while you're there, pick me up a pair of Armani shoes and a Hugo Boss suit for a good price in one of their shopping malls, I'll pay you when you get back.

I doubt I'd make it through the military controlled check points and barricades. Don't fancy climbing turreted walls or barbed wire fences. No point in trying to get there by boat, either, due to the sea blockade.

You'll have to get your Armani shoes from elsewhere - sorry!

Did anyone else notice how all the freed Palestinian prisoners looked fat and well-feed.. while Gilad Shalit was very thin, malnourished, and pale from lack of exposure to the sun?

Yes, I mentioned that earlier.

Here's more......

As some of the Palestinian terrorist/prisoners were handed over to Fatah in the West Bank.....guess where their first stop was? Yasser Arafat's grave!

Gilad's first stop was right in to the arms of his father!

What does this tell you?

Why would Israel do this? It does not make sense.. unless they want to create more instability to justify more military action?

Are you mentally OK??? This is MORAL to you? There is NOTHING - WHATSOEVER, moral about exchanging 450 murderers plus 580 terrorists for one #ing soldier. It is absolutely and completely immoral, lopsided, demented..

It is sickening for me to hear about this. I am appauled at the STUPIDITY of the Israeli public, to put one #ing life up against men who have taken hundreds. THIS is immoral. This makes Israel look stupid and pathetic and now lets watch Hamas kidnap more Israeli a few months from now when everyone forgets about this.

Idiots.
