I wish the rest of the world would understand that the only thing that keeps our planet from falling into tyranny is the armed American populace. If this nation falls to a total police state without guns TPTB will make the final move to a world complete enslaved and happy about it.

i could see myself walking down the road with this Armani add-on function.

Always look down the barrel, making sure it is clean and free of obstructions. Don't use the safety too much, as it wears out the gun.

Trust me it's much more difficult than you think. Sure it's pretty neat holding a gun up against a person but up against many?

The americans think owning an arm makes you strong.
But you're carrying something normally a person wouldn't have. That makes the person a "wussy" so to speak.
A strong person is someone who need not hold a weapon whether it is a bazooka or an axe. He has a strong spirit and heart. A lot of people have fought armed soldiers unarmed, twas pretty difficult but most of them did not make it.

Most of your succesful comedies are british inventions like many other american things.
you even tried to make a red dwarf and that was aweful.

i beleive guns are bad as every human should but your just a victim of your surroundings, if the bad guys all have guns then i would want some home defence too.

My advice would be go to the local range and practice, also ask the guy who runs the range about classes and info.

Re: " wild west USA": I've lived in the states all my life except when I was deployed overseas. I have owned a handgun since my16th birthday( a present) bought my first one at 21. I have never seen a gun shot wound victim. never had bullets fired at/or around me except normal activity on a target range.. Only drew my duty sidearm once in the military.

Your comments about "our mess" and your self claimed supposed moral superiority are laughable.

Needs to get a ccw permit if he lives in a ccw state. It will point him toward TRAINING to inform him of the basic laws. (O.P. Seems to be abit under informed to make such a purchase).; When to shoot :I.e. when is it warranted and legal to shoot or not. legal ways to carry etc.Movies or video games don't count and are usually really poor tactics/ "bad"/wrong/illegal ( pick any three).

To the OP:

Congrats. Things you should know they may or may not tell you in class.

1. You are legally accountable for every bullet fired from the weapon registered to you. Accident or mistake
you are held before a jury. Be certain you learn safe training. you cant call back any bullet once its gone.

2. Only fire your weapon in a safe reasonable place such as a gravel pit or proper range were all projectiles are collected in a backstop or into the earth. there are tragic cases every couple of years where the bullets go far beyond the target with no backstop and hit people.

3. Your unique handgun projectiles have marks that only your weapon leaves. The same for the empty casings that get flung away and most often are lost. Thats like leaving a copy of your drivers license everywhere you fire it as far as an investigator is concerned. only leave those things behind at places like gun ranges and pits that are proper for practice.

4. Know the gun laws in your state. Be aware you cant go from state to state traveling with a weapon without honoring the local laws. Traveling within a motorhome or other 'residence' does not exclude local laws. be responsible.

5. Know the exact capabilities of your round. Your classes should touch on this, but even that tiny .22 can go through one attacker and into an innocent bystander. You are liable for your actions.

6. Probably the most important. Hand guns and handling them you will have a natural desire to grasp the handle and that places your trigger finger on the trigger. Keep it on the side of the weapon outside the trigger guard, and off the trigger till you are ready to fire. Rifles and shotguns have more surface area and the ability to handle them without that grasping. This makes those weapons much safer to handle. Pistols do not.

Get your classes down and stock heavy on ammo. Like everything else the prices constantly go up. You will think the people you hear buying 1,000 rounds are nuts, but you can easily burn through 200-300 rounds on one trip to the range. 1,000 is an average 3 range days for me. I have burned through 800 on different weapons on one range day, so its not unusual to use more. at that rate even a few pennies saved per round amounts to a big difference over a years time.

I received my first rifle at 7 and was equally proud. I have hunted amazing amounts of of game and have haduntold days of peace just walking in the bush or being with friends.....

Ive also had to " skin it" a couple of times when things got hairy at my business or at the house.

Remember, have your firearm in hand THEN call 911.


I would suggest finding a gun range nearby. Most will not charge to give you basic info or it will be cheap.

Go as often as possible and get to know folks. its rare to find rude or unfriendly folk at ranges. We have our own culture of sorts. ..but we are always welcoming new friends.

I agree with a previous poster about the caliber. No offense.

I hope its a high end 22. cheapies tend to jam horribly and you MUST be able to depend on it.


I would suggest looking at a makerov varient. Usually less than 2bills and completely reliable. Many use these as carry weapons.

After watching a movie called"The Road",I went to a shooting range and bought a Glock .45 21SF.It's the biggest .45 that Glock makes...Then I bought a BlackHawk Military style thigh holster.I spent about $800.00 total.I practiced so much,that I put my targets the same distance out as the people who are using rifles do. You might wanna step up from the .22...Oh,always remember this,If you must shoot someone,then shoot to kill.

.22 is a good starter weapon. A shorter barrel will make you a better marksman.

A .22 can shoot through the sheet metal of a truck door so don't worry about stopping power.
Anyone shot and still living is very unlikely to continue their assault against you unless they want another round to complement the one they've already received.

Which is unlikely.

Don't worry about wearing out your gun using your safety. Your safety is part of the design of this machine for a distinct and particular reason... most importantly learn how to use your firearm properly.

An average of 268 people are shot every day in America, for a total of nearly 100,000 each year.

A 22 can do some nastiness but the hydostatic forceis ninmal to a higher mass lower velocity round. With smaller calbers placement is even more vital.

For the record 45 here but wont turn my nose up to a nice 380 either!

The only thing about most Glocks,is they don't have a safety button.You can get one with it,if you want.Do research on pistols before/and if,you up grade to a higher cal.gun...I chose Glock because of it's ratings and how easy it is to turn it into fully auto,if I want...There are 300 round clips I could get for it also...A machine gun pistol can do a hell of a lot of damage if need be.
