If their was no regulations then their would be no gun ho people that shoot up schools (columbine was obiasly a manchurian candidate cover up.) because every would have a gun. The person killing inocents would get killed before having the chance to kill more people if we did not have stricken gun control laws and BRAIN WASH PROPAGANDA witch you have been exposed to like the columbine shooting. Is this an automatic or six shooter?
how long is the barrel?
If it isnt four or more inches it will not be very accurate in a long shot.
Should be 5 or 6 anyways for that caliber...
If it is a small concealable 22auto with a two or so inch barrel just chuck it and get something else....

I would like to see guns and the knowledge to make guns and other weapons destroyed so that we would not kill each other. Buts its all ready been done and we cant change history. You cant make something illegal and expect it to go away. If we out right make guns illegal in America, IT WOULD START A HUGE WAR! If we wear to make them illegal mexican cartels would take over Texas, Arizona, south California and new Mexico. If we wear to make guns illegal it would bring a HUGE police state to make sure no one owns a gun. This is not the UK, you are very ignorant for calling us dumb for using guns when we have no choice.

SWEET! Good advice thank you much. It is semi auto with a short barrel. Its a very small gun! Like I said though will be used EXCLUSIVELY for protection ya know? But I woul like to take it to the range and fire it until I become comfortable.

Let's talk about YOUR gun purchase and get back on topic, OK?

1. I'm sorry, but a .22 is not going to do much to protect you. It's just too small. It doesn't have stopping power. But that doesn't mean it won't help you get comfortable with guns. besides, ammo is dirt cheap.

2. For training, first take the local NRA one-day courses. One is on home safety. The other is on beginning pistol. Get familiar with your local range.

3. At some point you will need something bigger. Many people say you ought to have anything with a '4' in the title: a .44, a .40, a .45. These guns pack a big punch and are far different that the pop of a .22. But like I said, there's nothing wrong with a .22 to get you started. Most of us did it that way.

4. If you're serious, you'll need some serious defensive handgun training. This includes training in the law. You need to understand what constitutes a threat to your personal safety, and that varies from state to state. If you live in California, New York, or Illinois, move. If you live in Texas, halleluja!

5. There's training and then there is training. If you want some serious practical defensive handgun training, try a firearms academy such as Frontsight in Nevada. I just took a four day intensive handgun cours ethere this spring. By the time you shoot off 1,000 rounds of a 9mm Glock, you'll begin to get the feel for this sort of thing. I train with a 9mm Glock myself, but to be honest, it's a tad bit on the weak side.

6. If you actually want to carry, that's a whole different mind set. It normally requires a permit regardless of the fact that the second amendment says you have the right to keep and bear arms.

I guarantee you, you will not be happry with a very small short barrelled 22.
This being said, the above advice is good stuff....practice with it till you understand how it shoots, and i dont think you will need to be convinced it is not enough gun for the job.
Its accuracy will be poor.at any distance....
Short barrel loses power faster as well....it wont have much "stopping power"these two things coupled will be aparent soon enough....
Meantime, i say get with it and shoot it!Buy a brick of ammo and have fun!
The courses are a good idea, but for just plain familiarisation, any experienced shooter could keep you company and help you through the initial trial
Just shooting a handgun is enough to make you want more....so much freer than rifle shooting....
And by the way....see about getting an extra magazine at the gunshop....
If you plan to carry, then practice your draw till its flawless....

Actually, you are much much crazier. Depending on whose statistics you use, violent crime in the UK is five times higher than it is in the US. Of course, mealy mouthed liberals can't accept that, so there's a big argument over what constitutes "violent crime" and how the UK reports violent crime "differently" than the US.

Here's a summary of the arguments

All you have to do is compare the crime rates of New York (population 8 million) to London (population 7 million). The difference in crime is about seven TIMES. So No, I think maybe living in the UK is far riskier than living here, No thanks. I wish it did not, but the place sucks. Sorry.

i have nothing against guns apart form when there pointed at me ( personal experience while dating a farmers daughter ) lol i just dont like the personal attacks on us brits and i think we are more evolved we are just waiting for you lot to kill each other then reclame what is ours
