Well if thats true, maybe they should call themselves "The 1 percenters that could possibly grow to 99%". Truth is I am pissed too. I am pissed that the government redistributes my money to anyone. I dont mind paying for defense and the legal system, which are legitimate functions of government. But when they take my money and hand it to the rich or the poor it pisses me off.

Many of the OWS people keep saying things like they need a guaranteed living wage regardless of whether they work or not, and that we should take other peoples money, which they earned legally or they would be in jail, and have it given to them. That is nothing but government supporte thievery.

Well whatever Healthcare reform they got the majority of them want it abolished. So they must have not gotten the right kind of healthcare reform. Instead they decided that we are too be fined if we dont buy health insurance from the very insurance companies they spent years demonizing. They caused the cost of health insurance to increase. The GOP lobbyist groups spent a billion plus watering it down so if you want to blame anyone blame the Insurance lobby and the GOP as we would've had a halfway decent system if they didn't attempt to interject their will like the dictatorial scum they are.

The HCR banned an insurance company from dropping you when you got sick, banned lifetime caps and limits on coverage. Now, what did the insurance companies do as a response? That's right, they jacked everyone's premiums on average of 18 - 25% across the board. This allows for the expansion of the HCR as it left the door open for it. You, your doctor and your family are now allowed to make all of your medical decisions and not some high school dropout on a phone a thousand miles away dictating who gets what.

Well of course they raised the insurance rates. They must take people with existing conditions, regardless of whether they have ever paid them a dime before they got sick. There is no limit on your coverage. This costs money. Of course, they are going to expect people to pay more to cover this, as it exposes them to a ton of risk. They only make on average about 7% as it is. They would go bankrupt if they didnt raise rates to account for this added risk forced onto them by the government.

Considering that scrip markups cost the most ($2 for a scrip and they charge like $60) is where the abuse lies. Dropping those with a pre existing condit is now banned.

Tens of thousands of homes were forclosed upon due to the rising cost of medical bills whereas they had to take out 2nd and 3rd mortgages to finance their healthcare.

The GOP got The National Public Health Insurance Exchange taken out, if that would've been allowed it would've capped costs over time. Healthcare should not be profits before people. You want to put profits before people start a retail empire and don't get into healthcare.

If my mom would've been able to qualify for insurance in say, Q1 09, she would've gotten dropped in Q3 09 when she was diagnosed with COPD!

This movement was never going to be the deciding battle against corruption in Washington and Wall Street, it’s merely an introduction to the uninitiated, a way to open the eyes and ears to the blind and deaf, and finally giving a voice to the dumb. Once Pandora’s box is opened, it will never be shut again. I've already addressed the "can't find work" thing. It's a copout. There are jobs out there, they're just not the jobs they want. I heard 1 protester say that he quit his job to come protest. Another was complaining about how he only made $7 per hour. Most of these folks want the lifestyle their parents have and just can't seem to realize why they don't have it when they turn 18.

And YES, free education will only make things worse. Please show me where in the constitution it says all Americans have a right to college education and its the government's (taxpayers) responsibility to pay for it. The entitlement mindset and policies are bringing the country down. It is you that is blind. 

And I'm not uneducated. I have a bachelor of science (paid for on my own). You don't know me, yet you and others make assumptions because I do not agree with your "enlightened" point of view. Recessions and depressions are a tool that the elites use to gain more control. And its true when you think about it. What happens when a recession hits? Companies go bankrupt, banks go bankrupt, and are bought out by the bigger banks.

If you don't see the problem then please leave ATS, because this place is about pointing out the problems. Its not an entitlement thing. Talk to the 60 or 70 or 80 years olds at occupywallstreet. Its a NO JOBS thing, its a NO HEALTHCARE thing. Its a #ed system that needs to be fixed, wether you want it to or not. You may be happy with the system, i have no complaints in my own life really aside from the fact that i net a lot more than i see. A lot more.

And yes, education being free would be better. Because there are people who cant afford school out there that would love to be a doctor, a dentist, a mechanic, architects, everything you could imagine. But they cant because they're poor. The system is engineered to keep them that way.

All I hear from you is: 1) some people work hard but can’t make it. Therefore our tax dollars should supplement those people, 2)everyone who has a desire to become a doctor, lawyer, etc but can’t afford to should get a free education because it’s not fair that some people were either born into some money or worked to make their own opportunities in life. That’s an entitlement mentality, bud! This country doesn’t owe you or the people at OWS a damn thing other than what the constitution provides us. Period!

Nobody has answered my question!! Where in the constitution does it say that the government (taxpayers) should provide a free college education to American citizens? Hell, the drop-out rate in high school is now around 50% and that IS FREE.

Furthermore, I wasn’t born with a silver spoon up my A** as you speculated. I spent 5 years in the Marine Corps and paid my own way through college because my parents couldn’t afford to send me, so don’t give me that garbage. I worked for what I have and I've struggled too. If you’re or anybody else is struggling to make it….welcome to life. Nobody said it was easy. Suck it up and change your destiny. The country can’t do it for you. I do agree that there are plenty of things that need to be changed in our system but to me that means less government interference not more “nanny state” handouts or going after people who have more that you.
