The problem is that if it is OK to suspend the constitution for special situations then who decides what these are?

Sounds to me like it is the federal government. They are the ones that decided that time and also when passing the Patriot Act. Both republican presidents.

Maybe you should worry less about the label and more about the contents.

It's never okay to suspend the constitution. Bush and Obama and their cronies are all criminals. Congress has the power to make laws and print money, as intended by the founders. Not some private bank, with a name that makes it sound like its a federal institution, when its not. The federal reserve and the 6 mega banks were put in control of the economy and they screwed it up big time.

If the 1% gave all of thier money to the 99% every person in America would get about 15$. Correct me if I am wrong on this. I think I will abandon the protest.

But to lump in a bunch of citizens that worked hard for their money with the evil 1% and just TAKE their assets....with no due process of law

Well, that is just criminal

Agreed. "lump(ing) a bunch of citizens that worked hard for their money" and "Take(ing) their assets" is what happend both with the wall street frauds and with the bailouts that followed.

It would not be fair to do the same to the wealthiest 1%.

Thank goodness the Occupy Wall Street crowd is not suggesting the same....unless you have seen some news clip I am unaware of?

BTW - To prosecute every employee at every investment bank in the USA that was involved in fraudlulant and illegal activity would take a century and cost more than we could ever recover. What we settled for was Headlines like Bernie Madoff and his historically unprecedented ponzi scheme.

What most are proposing is modestly taxing those that benefited most from the largest and arguably most fraudlulant transfer of wealth in human history.

A rate that would still be considered historically low by anyones objective measure.

Your the one that pushes the left being different from the right. Looking at the content (actions) and not the label is what I advised you to do.

I think you are wasting your time friend arguing with people who suffer from the Stockholm Syndrome.

In psychology, Stockholm Syndrome is a term used to describe a real paradoxical psychological phenomenon wherein hostages express empathy and have positive feelings towards their captors, sometimes to the point of defending them. These feelings are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims, who essentially mistake a lack of abuse from their captors for an act of kindness.[1][2] The FBI’s Hostage Barricade Database System shows that roughly 27% of victims show evidence of Stockholm Syndrome.[3] The Syndrome is named after the Norrmalmstorg robbery of Kreditbanken at Norrmalmstorg in Stockholm, in which bank employees were held hostage from August 23 to August 28, 1973. In this case, the victims became emotionally attached to their captors, and even defended them after they were freed from their six-day ordeal. The term "Stockholm Syndrome" was coined by the criminologist and psychiatrist Nils Bejerot, who assisted the police during the robbery, and referred to the Syndrome in a news broadcast.[4] It was originally defined by psychiatrist Frank Ochberg to aid the management of hostage situations.[5]

Or they are "just" trolls of the system. You can NEVER WIN arguing with them even if you argue non-stop till next year. A real conservatie will argue and give up after a while cause he respects liberal perspectives. These people just keep going, and going and going. Energiser bunny devils! Perhaps they get paid per post or something...who knows?

I find it hardly necessary for people to call for such a thing when their demands would certainly bring it about

That's just me though.

I agree there were many crooked dealings going on. So take the CROOKS assets...... LEGALLY

I'm all for that! I am happy to see so many End The FED signs at the protest... I even hope they evolve into a movement the whole country can get behind. Right now they just aren't, if they listen to and follow the agenda of their backers they will get change alright, just not the kind anyone like me wants any part of.

If you want us to take it seriously it seems you would. All I hear is intolerance and this only reinforces my current opinion

The Fed and the government have become a creation of wall street itself. It is redundant to say "bring down the fed" and neglect all the "me too holmes, babyboomers" who took advantage of monopoly capitalism and insider information to become wealthy.

Go to the delaware state registry of corporations and you will find every single agency is incorporated. Why so sherlock? Do some real investigation and find out what state capitalism is. No one is making the democrats sound like angels they are simply the lesser of two evils.

Don't forget it was the republicans who voted to allow unlimited first amendment rights to corporations to lobby and support candidates during election time. Yet we have the same conservatives here trying to put down OWS as though they don't know what they are talking about.

I assure you they know what they are talking about and the people here who pretend not to know are putting on a mediocre hollywood act to prevent the movement from succeding.

Yes they are crooks and yes they manufacture inflation to keep the masses down, but the other problem is with all the other people who produce nothing. They sit around and make money off of money or a service that is not needed.
1% bankers
10% military
20% disabled, retired or unemployed
10% just scamming the system
20% in jail

that leave only 39% doing the real work. No wonder people protest.

No one is saying to forget about Wall Street crooks! Crooks are crooks, we are saying you have it backwards... YES they are connected and the FED pulls the strings....you need to make public the FED secret dealings to get to the bottom of it so you can know WHO the wallstreet crooks are!

You find out for sure who the guilty are and I am ALL for you!

In 2007 before the Bailouts etc the top 20% in the USA possesed 93% percent of the wealth.

The bottom 80% had 7% of the wealth.

The Top 5% had 72% of the wealth.

The Top 1% 43% of the wealth.

All of that before the biggest transfer of wealth ever. Want to venture a guess what the distribution looks like now?

I will give you a hint. The economy is stalled because the bottom 80% has no money and no credit left.

All that is left is to live from hand to mouth and check to check. That or fight for our standard of living back.
