The problem is that Restore the Republic doesn't guarantee that things will be better. Plus what does it really mean? What would be cut and what would be kept from the changes made in these 200+ years?

What is means is you get government out of the job of sustaining and controling more and more of the people, making them dependent.

It means you organize and update the Constitution of it is needed! One of the FEW things I agree with this protest is they are asking for this! Not one I find should be the highest priority but still....a SMART move and VERY patriotic all the same!

Edit: if OWS was asking for an amendment that would solve the banking and/or wallstreet issues you have NO IDEA how many supporters you would gain! BUT, as long as this protest is a far left movement, you will get no help from the general public. Why do you think they are paying people to protest? To facilitate the illusion the movement is growing...... EVEN with paid protestors the and several weeks to build, the numbers are STILL not what the Tea Party produced. You NEED their numbers..... You wont get it as long as you demands would destroy the Constitution.

The People can add amendments as well as REPEAL them! It means not one is ever *too big to fail* and so you never have to worry about what is happened now....crooked people and shoddy products dont last!

It means you look to the Bill of Rights to judge what is FAIR...not make up things as you go along.

The people could make change by embracing the Constitution! There is ALSO the 10th Amendment! google the 10th Amendment Center..this is a movement not getting any press either!! See what they have to say!!

Communism will only work in the real world when all men are angels. Never in history has Communism benefited the people it has been *imposed* on.

Most people who find aspects of communism noble were not alive when Communism existed in many more places around the world than it exists today.

I find it interesting though that most people not opposed to it have this *those other guys didn't do it right* outlook. I have yet to hear anyone alive in the days of the USSR and Communist China share your views.

And so I suppose the world must try again for they have forgotten the lessons learned about it decades ago.

The tenth Amendment does not give the people the power to overrule congress. It says that whatever a superior level of government doesn't regulate may be regulated by the next. By the time you get to the people there is very little freedom left. It moves the power upwards not down.

I believe the constitution is only a piece of paper. The people must defend it and what it stands for and not the other way around.

I'm not a Communist, but to say that there aren't good ideas/concepts in the original theories of Communism is to be willfully blinded. I understand your family's history with Communism was not pretty, and I completely acknowledge that and feel for them. However, this red-scare crap... calling everyone/thing a commie... it's completely inaccurate. The vast majority of the left-wing (including radicals) already know that Communism is a tyrannical failure. Socialism in GENERAL is not, however, and includes many leanings, the most popular of which are LIBERTARIAN (as Chomsky calls himself- Libertarian Socialist... which is not an oxymoron).

One of the protections in our founding documents does indeed keep capitalism from getting out of control like it currently is.
