I get what you are saying, but I think it's a bit different. While we are all equal as we meet on the level, there are some who have earned more respect due to their efforts. Some of them may hold more titles or wear cooler hats then others, or they may just be at every meeting. But some deserve to be appreciated or at the very least respected more so than others. (IMHO)
