Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae did fine for over a half a century. It was de-regulation that brought the system down. Deregulation that the bankers got filthy rich exploiting.

Look at those two organizations in the big picture. FDR also created another big program aside from Fannie Mae... named Social Security. Social Security did fine for almost 100 years before it started falling apart. Like Fannie Mae, Social Security would also be run into the ground faster under deregulation. That it does not change the fact it is going to self-destruct under its own weight. The only thing that deregulation does is make the process faster and more efficient in a way that amplifies the flaws of the system. Medicare is going to collapse. Medicaid is going to collapse. And yes, they'd collapse a lot faster under de-regulation because de-regulation makes things more efficient. Here is an important question: Are Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid going to collapse?

I think they will collapse, and I think deregulation would make it happen faster, but that would not make it right to blame deregulation on the collapse, but rather it would only make it right to blame deregulation on the speed of the collapse. And again, that is merely because you have the whole system playing out but with greater efficiency due to less government involvement.

Do you recognize that the Banks are in fact the International Corporate Masters, and that free market ideologies plays into their hands like putty.

I'm not convinced that free market ideology plays into their hands better than market regulation ideology. When you're the one writing the rules like the Corporate Masters, any regulation will benefit them whether it frees up the markets or regulates them. Any form of government plays into their hands when they are the ones defining it. The bedrock foundation of all US banks is the Federal Reserve System. The banking system has a very slight link to the free market, but is by and large defined by thousands or tens of thousands of pages of banking regulations. The banking deregulation that Democrat Bill Clinton signed off on certainly did nothing to change the fact the whole system is a government-created government-defined monster.

If you're right that de-regulation was the root cause of the disaster then putting back stringent regulations will put the economy back on track. If your wrong, and in fact the root cause is the Federal Reserve, then more regulations will do nothing to help the economy. I believe that regulations on the banking industry will go back into effect because a large swath of people like you have been suckered into the belief that deregulation was the root cause of the economic collapse.

Corporations pay politicians who will support their efforts. And therefore politicians who support corporate efforts are the ones who get elected over the ones who do not. Its a systematic problem. Its a problem with all Republic forms of government. Under a Republic, you specifically assign a class of elite people who "represent you". Who represents you better than your own self? Nobody. The idea that we should not be allowed to represent our selves is a bad one. so again, its not deregulation that is the problem. Its regulations and its the system that is the problem.

I've been watching this Livestream for ever half an hour. Whatever the main speaker is saying, and I mean EVERYTHING that is said, is repeated by the crowd. Can someone explain the significance of this to me? Looks a little like a Communist or cult-style indoctrination session to me.

I think it is similar to a cadence, to help folks remember.
Only difference is they aren't making the funny gutteral noises like they do in the military.
Hope it helps

That's because that's the mindset of these people. They aren't there because they care about America. They are there because they want socialist reforms... Combing through the video I saw at least 2 Che t-shirts and a "we love the chairman" (I'm guessing Mao). . .

To be upset with the status quo is one thing to want to throw out what our country is built on and usher in an age of socialism/communism is quite another.

I don't know if you have heard Lupe Fiasco speak but he is ridiculous... And these are the type of big names at this event... It was a small fringe protest and accomplished nothing. . .

Until people realize that big business isn't the only problem and that everyone needs to quit the left right bickering and stand up for small government and the American dream and not communism or fascism or cooperate protectionism then I'm afraid we are all boned.

To answer your question in a simple manner... Its a technique called "People's Mic". Because of certain noise pollution laws, the cops told them to quit using the bull horn mic. So in essence their using this technique to amplify the speakers statements across the group. They stated many times that this technique was being used. Although it may apear cultist in origin, its really just a creative method to keep the group united and informed. Thanks, I hope I answered your question.

It will defiantly help people remember whats being said, but in actuality its not as menacing as you guys think. Its a collective effort to remain united.

Our whole system must change and until it does OCCUPY every place, everywhere that is oppressing us. Squat the empty forclosed homes and give free food to the homeless openly. There is so much work to be done. I will give the homeless free food and I will become part of a protest in my area. This is for everyone not just a select group. It is time to come together as human beings and citzens of the USA and the world!

Who is going to pay for all this? Do you not know that the taxpayers pay for everything? If you want to get rid of the Fed like all these people suggest, then you get rid of the very mechanism which helps the govt fleece the taxpayers to print all this money making the taxpayers liable for all the debt the govt racks up. Maybe you just didn't follow that line of reasoning before. Maybe in your mind govt just pays for stuff and people get it free??? Is that the European model you are asking for?

If they are there in free will, and all share a common objective, than how is it brain washing? No one is forcing them to recite after the speaker they are forming methods to combat each scenario they encounter. Thanks for the response though.

To all those who are pessimistic and think that this movement will not bring any change, at least know that making the government and the world aware of our discontent is a great step towards change. Sadly, today we had less people than yesterday. I know there's way more than 1,000 people out there who want to change the rules, so show it.

Why did they take the bullhorns away from the protesters? It seems a little weird to me that they would do this? Who are they bothering, the janitors?

I've never been to NYC, so are there people living nearby? My assumption is a bunch of huge business buildings with few people there as it's the weekend.

i could be completely wrong and there may be reasonable justification for this but from where I'm at, I'm not seeing it.

Now that we know the Federal Reserve is a privately owned, for-profit corporation, a natural question would be: who OWNS this company? Peter Kershaw provides the answer in "Economic Solutions" where he lists the ten primary shareholders in the Federal Reserve banking system.

1) The Rothschild Family - London 2) The Rothschild Family - Berlin 3) The Lazard Brothers - Paris 4) Israel Seiff - Italy 5) Kuhn-Loeb Company - Germany 6) The Warburgs - Amsterdam 7) The Warburgs - Hamburg 8) Lehman Brothers - New York 9) Goldman & Sachs - New York 10) The Rockefeller Family - New York
Now I don't know about you, but something is terribly wrong with this situation. Namely, don't we live in AMERICA? If so, why are seven of the top ten stockholders located in FOREIGN countries? That's 70%! To further convey how screwed-up this system is, Jim Marrs provides the following data in his phenomenal book, "Rule By Secrecy.
" He says that the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, which undeniably controls the other eleven Federal Reserve branches, is essentially controlled by two financial institutions:
1) Chase-Manhattan (controlled by the Rockefellers) - 6,389,445 shares - 32.
3%
2) Citbank - 4,051,851 shares - 20.
5%
Thus, these two entities control nearly 53% of the New York Federal Reserve Bank. Doesn't that boggle your mind? Now, considering how many trillions of dollars are involved here, and how the bankers are WAY above our "selected" officials in Washington, D.C., do you think the above-listed banks and families have an inordinate amount of say-so in how our country is being run? The answer is blindingly apparent.

Where does the money come from?
We all know that the Federal Reserve CORPORATION prints money - then loans it, at interest, to our government. But wait until you see what a total scam this process is. But before we get to the meat of this issue, let's remember one thing about the very essence of banking - primarily that money should have some type of standard upon which its value is based. In the case of America, we operate on what is called a "gold standard" (i.e. our money is backed by gold).

So, with that in mind, let's look at how money is actually created, and at what cost. If the Federal Reserve wants to print 1,000 one-hundred ($100) bills, their total cost for ink, paper, plates, labor, etc. would be approximately $23.00 (according to Davvy Kidd in "Why A Bankrupt America"). Now, if you do the math, the total cost of 10,000 bills would be $230.00 ($.023 x 10,000). But, and here's the catch - 10,000 $100 bills equals $1,000,000! So, the Federal Reserve can "create" a million dollars, then LEND it to the U.S. Government (with interest) for a total cost of $230.
00! That's not a bad deal, huh!
The banking industry calls this process "seignorage." I call it outright THEFT. Why? Well, regardless of the immense profit margin ($1,000,000 for $230), plus the huge interest payments, our government then needs to STEAL the American people's money to payoff their debts via a Mob-like agency called the IRS. So the bankers steal from the government, then the government turns around and steals from the people. I'm no genius, but who do you think is getting screwed in this process? US - the people at the bottom rung of the ladder.

What's worse is that - now catch your breath - there's NO MORE gold left in Fort Knox! It's all gone. In other words, the GOLD STANDARD that our financial system was based upon is now an illusion. We can't convert our money into gold --- only other currency. The entire underlying basis for our money is now a lie - a sham. The Federal Reserve has become so arrogant that they've become a literal MONEY MAKING MACHINE, creating currency out of thin air! So that's where the Fed gets their money - they literally make it, then lend it to us so they can make even MORE money off of it.

Money As A Religion
The above-detailed process has become so ridiculous that William Grieder, former assistant managing editor of the Washington Post, wrote a book in 1987 entitled, "Secrets of the Temple: How the Federal Reserve Runs the Country" that details how the Controllers have conditioned us to accept this absurd situation.

To modern minds," he writes, "it seemed bizarre to think of the Federal Reserve as a religious institution. Yet the conspiracy theorists, in their own demented way, were on to something real and significant. The Fed did also function in the realm of religion. Its mysterious powers of money creation, inherited from priestly forebears, shielded a complex bundle of social and psychological meanings. With its own form of secret incantation, the Federal Reserve presided over awesome social ritual, transactions so powerful and frightening they seemed to lie beyond common understanding.
"
Mr. Grieder continues, "Above all, money was a function of faith. It required implicit and universal social consent that was indeed mysterious.

Earlier in the stream, a NYPD cop explained to the group that a use of a megaphone or voice amplification unit is not allowed as it would be disturbing the peace.

The "Peoples Microphone" as it is being called is their way to amplify messages to the entire crowd without having to use an amplification unit - since its just everyone talking in unison, the NYPD cannot control it because it falls under freedom of speech.

No its not a cult
