On a side note, there is a big storm system coming down from the Gulf of Alaska that's supposed to be in the SW Sat. Don't know if that has anything to do with this though.

Isn't the largest Naval base in the world in San Diego?

This is a major outage, and if
it has nothing to do with the flare
since the CME has not arrived
then it could be what I just read
about 9/11 anniversary terror threat.
Not fearmongering just stating what
I just read and forgot which thread it
was on. Will try to find it.

So far power is on in N Indiana.

To everyone in the affected areas. Drink a lot of water, do your best to keep the fridge and freezer closed to prevent food stores from going bad. Good luck everyone, let's hope they fix this right away for you. Also, if you see anyone elderly or children, or disabled persons, lend a helping hand with whatever they need. More importantly make sure they are drinking enough water and keep a fluid schedule for them.
111 degrees and no power is definitely not a joke.
Good luck everyone! Keep us posted.

In-laws have power in Dallas and we have power here in TN. Hope everyone gets there power back soon. It is crazy how much we take for granted but being without power really sucks!

Its not a full on outage in the Palm Springs area. Palm Desert has power but not the cities east and west. a lot of stuff is still on. my phone lost data service fit about ten minutes. major appliances went off a few second before we lost most of the lights.

I hear it goes from orange county to mexicali, with exceptions.

it might be helpful to post sources of food fuel and shelter that are confirmed open in affected areas. imstuck at home with very little gas- immobile until I know for sure what gas station to go to

Crap man. Thanks for update and I am real sorry to hear your position. If you were local I would ask if you need anything but I am in New York. Good luck brother. Also I think this is an excellent idea to post area updates on gas, food, shelter, places to go in the event that this event is prolonged.

Supposedly Iran has been recruiting hackers so they could have capability of attacking the US power grid.

Terrible that, not having power.

Imagine what people would do before its discovery.

Heck - I didn't even know. I was sitting outside in the sun reading a book.

Someone called me to find out what was going on.

My sisters are down in Pacific Beach area of San Diego, I just tried calling them both and I get the same thing "We're sorry blah blah high volume of calls" I can't get through.

Is city power essential for cell phone service??? Im not sure, If not thats strange the power and cell phone service would go out at the same time.

100+ degree temps and every AC in S. Cali running full blast is what happened. No conspiracy here.
