Someone is copying and reposting your posts under another name on another site

None of the re-posts (or copied posts) seem like any "type" other than new (i checked back about a month) . They even copy the intros section from here. This thread was copied and then i copied that re-post to here (a few pages back). i'm thinkin' it might be a bot or something. But the name gets changed fromthe ATS users name to that of the other sites user's name.

To me it appears the guy running the site is scraping the new topics on ATS and submitting them to his blog as posts from him, open for comments. He's taking the work of the OP and generating traffic to his own website from it.

It's actually a very smart idea... Disingenuous, but smart!

Their sign-up system isn't working, so I doubt full posts are available to anyone.

It looks like just a piss-poor RSS feed scraper. If it's just headlines and maybe the first sentence, there's not much anyone can do other than laugh at their ineptitude.

They are headlines, with a little snippet of text, said to be written by The Eye, click the link and it only takes you back to that.

There is nothing more, just a scam, designed as an RSS feed for news, under the conspiracy section... ATS content is minimal, no real attribution to ATS, and no links here.

Is that kosher?

Oh man I just put my screen name into the Google and I got lots of hits, most of them are from ats threads I wrote stuff in, and I even found out that I have a YouTube channel but have no vids up on it, crazy stuff I don't even remember making a YouTube channel under any name. But hey I guess I might as well start putting vids up since its there and all. Or not.

I even revisited intheknow7's blog were he gives my screen name and a whole other bunch of people as dis info agents or payed bloggers.

Havent botherd to look that much about copywriting stuff because personally I dont really care, but I found some old threads that I was looking for some time ago while searching the net for this stuff, so it's all good at least in that department it was serendipitous. But man freaking google gave me 40 pages or something of links to stuff I posted all in different threads just on ats. Which just reminds me that I need to get a life and quit posting stuff so much. Because I aint reading all that # I wrote.

But ya one of the conspiracies we are not supposed to talk about is that, and off-course the conspiracy of were some of the old members who get banned disappear to and why.

Watch if I start questioning and saying some things one of them moderator fellows will come in here and he/she will be all like.

"hey you! your not supposed to talk about that, terms and conditions and all that"

then I will be like "oh why not this is a conspiracy site, and that is one of the more interesting conspiracies about this site"

then they will be like " don't make me give you the ban hammer"

then I will be like " no not the dreaded ban hammer, cant we all just get along"

then they will probably erase some stuff I typed. And I will be like "what the hell who did that? whats your problem yo, you dont see me going around erasing stuff you wrote"

then they will be like "Hey t@c its what its there for"

Then I will be like " ya whatever, but still we cant talk about a conspiracy theory on a conspiracy site? That is some conspiratorial stuff right there"

Then they will be like "Ban hammer"

and I will be like "oh nnozzz"

But yes op there are many mysteries on ATS.

Actually, there is something that can be done.

Visit this Google form:
Report scraper pages
...and report them.

It's a new strategy from Google to allow users of the web to report unethical site scrapers, and get them removed from the Google index.

If you don't want to create an actual hard-link to their site, just type the URL without the "http://www." in front.

I can find others if necessary. I didn't assess these sites to see if or how much other material came from ATS.

Most of us take pride in what we post and we do it solely for the betterment of ATS, not a scab website.

ETA: What about the fact that the link I provided earlier states it was authored by "the eye".

Yeah what's happening is this fool is redirecting the links to his blog using keywords from threads on here so that Google posts the popular ones and you click on his link instead of the actual ATS link... just so he can make money, and It's very likely it's someone who's a member on here...

Same here. I was able to create an account there after a few tries (captcha being case-sensitive seemed to be my problem). Many identical titles, it seems from many sites, but no actual content or comments that I can find. It seems I can comment if I like, so I tried one on "Time for cyber war on Wikileaks?" which reads: Quit stealing from ATS! by Joe Alan (my really cool fake name). However," [my] comment is awaiting moderation."

Will keep you posted.

Someone began a thread on this 'IAmTheEye site here the other day..A few people responded to it,and within minutes it was removed.

To me,that is a bigger mystery than the actual website is. Any thoughts on that?

Or all those replies in the thread were pasting the link to said website? It's a problem that needs to be looked into, but it's still against the TOS to paste that link.

The site archives go back to July, 2010... not sure if that matters as every other time-stamp there seems to be BS, just FYI.
