Well I guess I could expand on that. LOL.
You see I grew up in a house here in the south that predates the Civil War.
Everyone in our family sees things in that house. Even visitors saw things several times.
In the upstairs bedroom there is a dark looking spirit that seems grumpy and wants you to go away. At night you hear footsteps trudgeing up and down the stairs. There is a lady in a blue civil war era dress in the living room. I have seen her and so have my two sisters. There is a red haired boy who has been spotted in the basement. I have'nt actually seen him. All I've seen down there is a dark looking cloud thing that hovered in the air and then vanished. The steps on the back of the house go by the living room window. Visitors and all of us keep seeing a silhouette (sp?) go past the window. Like someone is going up the stairs to the backdoor. The first time I saw it I thought it was my brother and I went to let him in. No one was there. There is a gentlemen with a tophat on and blue eyes that leans on the doorframe in the kitchen and gazes at you for a second or two before he vanishes. He seems nice.
I've seen ghosts in various other places too. The most I've seen though are in this house. Even people who don't believe in ghosts have seen them here.

In 1992, while at a conference in Washington, DC, I stayed at a nice hotel ( i cant remember name)- I took a nap and awoke startled at this old lady standing at the side of the bed gawking at me- I jumped and she was gone. I remember her vividly to this day.
At a house i had just rented in Cape Cod, I again had an (different) old woman standing and staring at me by my bed- this one was psd! I think this one died at that house and resented me being in her bedroom.

I don't really know if this is a ghost, but for some reason almost everyday when I wake up there's a man standing by my fish just looking at the fish, not me. I'm not sure if it's a "waking dream" or not because when I wake up I sit up almost right away so I don't fall back asleep and then I'll look over to my window (where the fish is). Maybe a ghost came attached with my fish?

One of my freakier ghost experiences starts out with my helping prepare this old lady for the funeral home to come pick her up, I worked as a nurse's aide and the aide that had this patient was extremely busy so I ended up helping the nurse prepare the body and then helping the guy from the funeral home put her in the body bag. Not exactly an experience I wanted to have. While preparing her body I talked about what a sweet old lady she must have been I did not know her but the nurse knew her history and explained that she was very much a nice old lady but did not have any children, just sisters and their families. Well she must have like me, the next morning while driving home I sensed someone in the car but kept telling myself that I had a really strange shift and that I was just feeling the effects of that, Wrong! A few weeks later I awoke in what felt like to me the middle of the bed, we had a king size water bed and I was scooted right up against hubby and I always feel like I am smothering if I'm between people, I looked to my side of the bed and there she was lying down beside of me, I started screaming and she halfways raised up like I had startled her and disappeared. I don't know if she is still here. But she has not thank God as far as I know gotten back in bed with me again. I do talk to her sometimes and I ask for the lottery numbers, if she would mind doing some cleaning but no response so far. I have heard that there is an apartment somewhere in California where the ghost actually cleans the entire apartment. Now Iwant that ghost.

I was sitting in my room and saw this black figure pass from one room to the other in the darkened hallway. I got up and went to the room I saw it entering, figuring that it was my mother. When I went in the room, there was no one there. I then saw that my mother was still asleep in the bedroom (where the figure came from). Needless to say, I woke her and my dad up!

I should have figured something was up seeing as how there were no footsteps on a usually creaky floor and the "person" seemed to glide instead of bobbing up and down. Oh, it was also completely black and reflected no light. It didn't scare me back then, but it sure creeps me out to think about it now.

I've experienced other things in my house that I don't feel like putting down. Too lazy.

I never seen a ghost but many people feel my middle school was haunted 6 years ago when i was there. He/she would only be noticable during a test. It would slam doors shut and cause trouble. Michevious little rodent. You couldn't see it though.Anyways i wonder if a child died there and this child is haunting the place causing trouble?

Has anyone seen the Nicole Kidman movie, "The Others"?

That was truly awesome.

Well, I have had dreams about my family home, my family built it and I was born in this home, it was sold when I was 28 years old, and I was soooo attached to it.

I truly believe that when I die, my ghost will haunt this home. I have so many dreams, about 3 times a week for years now, that I am dead and walking the halls, living in this house, in kind of a trance, but peaceful and that there are other people there, strangers, that I don't mind, and that there are some structural renovation differences that I discover every so often,,, and it is a soothing kind of spooky feeling...

I am not a goofball at all, but I truly believe that there is no other place I'd rather be after death. ---providing that I stay on Earth, of course, I'd prefer the so called "Heaven" that awaits us.

I see shadow ghosts and orbs all the time. One night the shadow ghosts were much more active than normal, and one approached me. I think I must have blacked out from terror because I can't remember what happened after that.

I've never seen a ghost...don't really want to either. But I did watch our coffee table move about 30cm by itself once. Scared the c**p out of me.

Actually as I said some being (probaably ghost) actully kept me from harm by picking me up just before I hit the floor. I did not feel pain just the touch of hands and a knowledge of strength as it set me on my feet. There was no pain just compassion, it did not want me me to be harmed. Perhaps the ghost you dealt with had issues and pain my did not.

Odd

I've seen a ghost. Only once.

It frightened me quite badly, as you might imagine... I was six at the time. Or thereabouts.

I once read a book that was strange indeed sorry I don't recall the book but it starts out where a woman sees a child ghost at the river, they are both stunned to see one another the ghost gives a reaction of shock too. Years later as the book progresses the woman has died and it is she that is the ghost not the girl and it is merely a tear in the fabric of time as they are both seeing themselves in different stage so life.

In 1989 my father died, I was a nursing student at the time and was saddened that I had been so busy and not took time off to spend more time with him. I was having a really hard time dealing with his death as do most people when they lose a loved one. So he came to me in a dream. The dream was of me walking across a busy crowded street when a car came out of no where and struck the lady in front of me. As a crowd gathered around her I noticed my father sitting on a horsedrawn hotdog stand. He was sitting on the seat and waved to me. I debated what to do go spend time with my Dad or stay and help the woman, I decided surely there was someone more qualified than me to help and went to talk to my Dad. I knew he was dead and that this was a rare opportunity. We talk, we laughed and when I said I loved him , he acknowledge it with a wave of his hand as if to say I know why are you wasting time with this. Suddenly after what seemed a small eternity of catching up and laughing our attention was drawn back to the crowd. It was then that it dawned on me that one of us had crossed the line so to speak so I asked My Dad, "Am I over on your side or are you on mine?" At that moment the crowd parted and I had a clear view of the woman dead on the pavement, it was my own pasty white dead face staring at me and I must have had a funny look on my face for my Dad was laughing at me, suddenly I could not help but laugh too. I woke up and have treasured that dream ever since.

I figure my root of ignorance involving the paranormal is because i've never actually felt a presence or anything like it. Don't get me wrong im not a non-believer but I personally have never seen/hear a ghost. So when im skeptical about ghosts and such its a rather biased opinion I guess. I know you've all stated your stories and such but its hard to imagine without actually seeing one for yourself. I guess I have a boring life and maybe the ghosts don't like me
