we knew that forever.

water, plants, life, walking around life. piss me off nasa takes so long to say it.

why so long?

ya, take rock pictures you idiots. i want to kill geologists.

everyone kill geologists.

lololol!! joking!

just imagine.....a world without geologists.

eta; it's a frikkin rock, lololol!!

www.nasa.gov...

Zoom in that picture and you'll see something flying by on the both sides of the image (left & right) : birds or insects?

Wow, Clouds on Mars, liquid water. water vapor, And ya think they just found it? How many probes and landers have we sent to an ( empty barren planet). How much $$$$$$ has NASA spent in space? For what? Name one find or one mission that benefeited ALL OF US and not just DOD & Pentagon.

Yea, we have spent billions in space to learn that bean sprouts grow in zero gravity, WOW. Wake up people, they have not spent these billions just to learn bean sprouts grow in space, they have not spent our tax money going to mars to find water or the moon to bring back some dirt. Bottom line is WE HAVE NO IDEA what they have been doing in space or on the ISS. NONE OF US DO.

We have telescopes in space that can read your cars license tag, and we send probes and landers? Then what are the telescopes for? Oh I forgot there to look out into space so we can find out about our past? Why we are here? are we the only ones? All are questions we all ask we all want the answers to. After all those billions we,ve learned what? One of the previous poster said it best, You will never know unless they want you to know.

Two thirds of the Shuttle missions we're for the Pentagon & DOD, makes me wonder why, how about you all.

NASA confirmed that there is indeed liquid water on Mars but they believe it to be highly salty. We need to find a way to warm the planet up and make it hospitable to humans. Perhaps AL GORE can help? He's the expert on hot air.

Anyway, if we can get Mars warm enough, the human race can move there when the Sol goes nova at some point in the future. No, wait..that's not far enough. Maybe we should scratch Mars and begin work on inventing warp drive. Shouldn't cost much more than a few trillion dollars?
-cwm

Just a little nitpick...Sol will not go 'nova' (assuming you mean supernova) as our star is not massive enough. If it did, Mars would not save us...we'd basically have to leave the solar system. Sol will expand into a red giant as it starts to run low on hydrogen in the core. It's estimated that it will expand to just beyond Earth's current orbit before it starts fusing helium. Sol's Lifecycle

The Earth will probably be devoid of life (or at least all life as it appears today) long before the Sun gets anywhere near it's giant phase...especially if we keep helping it die like we are.

exactly...under national security and secrecy, billions have been spent on...? do we have a clue on what? not really... As i mentioned earlyer, tech developed now will reach us in 20 maybe 30 years.. if now we have LED screens, touch cell phones, HD video on cells and webcams, they were all invented way back.. I can state without a shadow of a doubt that there are cameras that can take HD photos on Mars without tens of filters, probes that can tell us exactly the conditions on mars without giving absurdresults, and so on.

For example...What do we have to benefit from the space program? No new tech has been released regarding space travel..at least not from NASA. We are actually back to slingshot launches from the russians. I wonder why. Where have all the money gone to for space travel? As stated before, we have satelites on the orbit that can read license plates on earth, what else can they do?

regardin the previous post where the photos of ice evaporating were. If you put a sheet of ice in sahara, take e picture of it now where u can see it, then take another photo of it 1 hour later you will find out it's gone. did it melt or did it evaporate? my bet is it melted. of course part of it evaporated, that is simply normal in certain conditions. the truth is i have no real clue of what the weather is really like on mars. could be like in sahara or could be like on the russian tundra. untill i will be able to scope it with my own telescope and see for certain that there is no flowing water, there is no fauna or flora, things will always be controversial.

I've always had trouble discerning the amount water in a given area, location, etc.
based on the amount of vapor. I always get that wrong.

Regarding your third pic , I happened to grab up all that show the particular object and did some detailed evaluations from image to image and objects that were in view have disappeared totally . Not behind other rocks but have completely gone . 2N289363474EFFB0A1P1985R0M1.JPG and 2N289976994EFFB0EOP0675L0M1.JPG . For what ever reason Nasa continues to evade , misinform , or with hold till later dates is unknown . I believe that Nasa still feels like we cannot handle the truth and further criticism towards them has left a bad taste in their mouths which they CANNOT get over it . Since they are supposed to be the pros in all of this space exploration .

They need to take their lumps like the rest of us have to when we mess up . Their not GODS and need to stop believing they are . Egomaniacs perhaps but not GODS .

Just because Mars has clouds doesn't mean its water, Venus has clouds that are made of sulphuric acid it also has rivers of methane that to us would look like water...

I guess that saying "Men are from Mars & Women are from Venus" is starting to hold true. Myabe it's time for us to go home in a bit. It could be this billion year cycle where we need to hop on over to Mars while Earth rebuilds itself.

Actually, the news about water on Mars is regarding Liquid water. That is what they've been looking for when you've heard about searches for water on Mars. Mars also frequently has periodic dust storms, which would help with cloud formation, but any water in them would be ice crystals.

Did you think that they were saying there was no water at all on the planet? We've had images of the polar ice caps on Mars for a long time and it is even believed that there could be a lot of ice underground throughout the planet. The problem here is the atmospheric pressure and temperature, not so much a lack of H2O. (it also doesn't help that the planet has practically no magnetic field to protect it, which is a good bet to why the atmosphere has gotten so thinned out)

Parotting mainstream i see?

If there is water ice

And there are water clouds

What was that state again between solid and gas?

Under low pressure there is none.

Yes.. and is pressure on mars low enough? Are you so sure about that?

Because so far all else we've been told has been a lie too (what a surprise aint it?)

For there too be clouds there has to be an atmosphere to hold those clouds, who knows airpressure on mars is just as high as here?

As Phage said, there is no state between solid and gas under low pressure, which is what I believe I said already in the text you quoted. If the atoms get excited enough (in this case warm enough) to break from their rigid/solid form, they will push out to the limits that their excited state can achieve. Without any pressure from the outside, or just not enough, it will go straight into a gaseous state.

But I appreciate the condescending tone nonetheless.

You can see it happen everytime a comet flies by...or perhaps you've heard of Dry Ice? There isn't enough pressure in Earth's atmosphere for Carbon Dioxide to have a liquid state, so it goes straight from its frozen/solid state into gas. Dry Ice

The air pressure on Mars is no where near as high as Earth's. It simply does not have enough mass , plus it has no real magnetic field (parts of the crust have been found that are polarized and there is evidence that it possibly had one in the distant past) to help shield it from being stripped away by the solar wind. Because of its lower mass, the atmosphere it does have actually extends higher than Earth's, which makes the overall pressure even less.

Mars is about half the size of Earth and only about 11% of the mass (because Earth is the most dense planet in the solar system, with Mercury coming in 2nd)
