Right, off to work!

Let's hope tonight is better. To anyone living in the major urban areas of the UK, good luck and stay safe!

Remember property can be replaced, lives can't. Look after your family and friends.

Apparrently theres reports of riots, or fear of riots in Northampton and Milton Keynes and police are telling shops in Wellingborough to be shut by 2PM. With some places already closed or closing, and reports of police all over the area.

Looks like it's making it's way out of the cities and into smaller towns now.

Yeah I think the water cannons and plastic bullets won't be enough if this spreads to the whole of the UK... and that's what it looks like is happening... slowly but surly each town and city is having more reports of riots and unsociable behaviour.. this is yet to hit the main stream press....

They are extremely slow to report the news, I am switching between 5 news channels to keep updated (ALJazeera, CNBC, CNN, Journaal24 (Dutch), BBC).
On the Dutch Channel it's more about the financial crisis, than it's about the riots!
edit on 9-8-2011 by KhaliWitch because: (no reason given)

I think it was a stupid mistake saying which police forces had lent officers to London, it let everyone know which areas would already be understaffed. Now if they use the same tactics as in London by being spread out, these areas will really struglle to do anything about it.

I can guarantee that the towns that have lent police officers are going to get hit the hardest

Slap him with a curfew

I'll slap you in a minute. I'm trying to make a half hearted comment given what's been going on. I work literally 2 mins walk from where it all happened in Liverpool so jog on...

Agreed… it does seem to be very short sighted of the police to inform the would be rioters where to hit next...

Haha, there is no chance of it spreading across the whole of the UK. Not going to happen.

South of England is safe, no reason for residents to get tetchy down here!

Mate I was trying to make light of it as well by saying they should slap the seagul with a curfew considering all the police will do to 99% of these yobs is give em a slap on the wrist. Wasn't meant to offend
