Often people romanticize the past. The perfect pious noble people of the past of your imagination don't exist. The people of the past weren't marble statues, they were real living breathing people, with many admirable qualities and shortcomings.

If you don't like how things are NOW, don't try to saddle it up with your fantasies of the past. Look at it for what it is. Take what you see as the good, the bad, the indifferent, express those ideas as objectively as possible and what you think are good ideas to change those things that are wrong.

If you don't look at the present and past objectively, honestly it makes you sound like a whiner. Be intelligent, be clinical, be passionate, but do so with facts as accurate as possible.

Our system has not been hijacked by the marketplace, it is/was/has been the marketplace. Let it also include the marketplace of ideas as well.

Our federal goverment is essentially a criminal organization, fronted by politicians bought and paid for by American corporations. We should work at turning our corrupt marketplace into a fair marketplace. It will only be achieved by intelligent objective people willing to invest some time, energy and money.

Next to middle eastern countries, we are under some of the most strict religious oppression in the world. You say that you call for those who are righteous, and those willing to judge, But My lord has said that none are righteous and that none may judge lest they are without sin.

You cast stones saying that we are the "children of shaitan" and in so doing show yourself to be breaking the scriptures, For to judge is to be judged and none of us can through our own righteousness gain entry to the gates of heaven. For all of us have the seed of sin within and only with the love of the lord may that sin be overcome.

I am not righteous though I try to live in a way that will please god, I will never be righteous for I am human and not god, I do not have the right to judge others because I am not without sin. So tell me Ark, what gives you the rght to judge? what makes you righteous when only god is righteous? Are you saying that you are God? re you saying that you are without sin both in thought and deed?

There is a proper way to have a discussion, and this isn't it.

As for threatening people, no, I certainly am not. I was saying (in mostly joke form) that this type of thread caused the distruction of the Pit we all loved. I was also talking about how I was the one who put the last straw on and made it a no insult zone (I think so at least).

Arky doesn't want dialog, he want's to preach, and what he's preaching is beyond me because he never says anything. KJ's saying leave this thread alone, let it die. I'll add to that, when Arky starts another thread about leaving, don't reply, attention NEEDERS are not needed.

Dude, I know, there's not point in kicking a dead horse... Now this thread has become a chit chat thread among ourselves, i'm on a coffee binge right now so i'm alittle grumpy... There is no such thing as good and evil without God.

Without God you are left with moral relativism.

Suppose exactly 50% of the population of the USA decide that cannibalism is OK and the other 50% decide it is not OK.

If there is no God then the 50% that are for cannibalism are perfectly justified in their own eyes in viewing all forms of life as just animals and its a case of survival of the fittest just like evolution has shown in the last million years or so.

There is no justifiable reason why anyone shouldn't do exactly what they want to do in the world whether anyone else in the world disagrees or not.

Now if a majority agrees on a certain principle then they are able to more easily impose that principle onto the minority and the larger the majority the easier it is to impose.

It's like the whole homosexual debate. Without God there is absolutely no reason at all why people should be denied the right to do exactly what they want and any move by the majority to restrict them is simply because they have a differing opinion and can impose that opinion because they are the majority.

If God created the universe then He makes the rules and is at perfect liberty to do whatever He chooses with his creation. He is therefore free to impose whatever rules and ideas he chooses onto his creation and ultimately if his creation does not obey then they better Beware !

If God created Man and Woman to procreate in only 1 way and that any other sexual relationships amount to disobedience to Him then that is an ABSOLUTE reason why homosexuality is wrong, not a relativistic one.

Of course then theres the whole issue of whether God did actually create the universe but without God we are certainly left in a situation where nobody can say their choices are right and someone elses are wrong because it all becomes relative.
