I believe you just proved our point. You are correct about California, plus Illinois, and New York. All are progressive, liberal controlled states that bought into the Keynesian theory of spending your way out of debt and all inclusive socialized government, and look where they are. Texas legislature meets every two years. Perfect example of the benefits of small gov.. Most states have balanced budget amendments in their state constitutions. Texas also accounted for one third of new jobs created in the last 2 yrs. That balanced budget amendment is exactly what the Tea Party members are pressing for and the main reason that the Dems and Obama will not "compromise" on the debt ceiling debate. If they were serious about doing something this is their opportunity to show it.

Amen!! The left would rather see the Dems turn this country into a socialist state.Republicans into a fascist state. Sorry people, America was not founded as such. It was not founded as a democracy. It was a Constitutional Republic, and there is strict set of guidelines as how it was to be run. Politicians on both sides have perverted it and change things to fit their needs and greed. Our money was supposed to be backed by silver and gold, not credits on a computer screen. Politicians have sold us all down the river and we need to give DC an enema. I hate to say it, but the chaos to come may just be that enema.

In 2008 (and since then) The REAL nazi party & it's members & supporters have been in power using gestapo tactics to attempt to silence dissent. There is nothing in the Tea Party that resembles the nazi party & much on the socialist left that does. The nazi's strongly believed that Gov. was the solution, so do the socialist liberal left. The nazi's believed strongly in Gov. run schools (the "public" school system) so as to control what the children were taught. Most on the socialist liberal left decry tax breaks or anything that aids parents using private schools while pouring billions@ a public school system that's among the worst. The nazi's did TOTAL gun control, The socialist liberals want to do the same thing here in America. The nazi's called anyone that spokeout aginst them unpatriotic and dangerous enimies, a common tactic of the socialist liberal left in America today. The nazi's wanted to control the media and did. Current bills before congress want to silence or controll talk radio(which is a PRIVATE corp. endeavor) and force radio stations to give time to liberal shows as well, even though they are so unpopular that w/o taxpayer funding thru fed. grants they would go off air. The list goes on & on & on. As a simple mater of historical fact it wasn't the nazi's that brought down the Weirmar "Republic" (it really wasn't a republic so much as true republics go) it was typical liberal ideas of tax, spend, print more money, tax spend, print more money. It caught up to them as it is us. There's alot of similarities as far as Gov.'s go between obama's administration and bush's. Massive gov.bailouts of private corp.'s, still at war, still no border control, still spending way too much, still taxing way too much. The only BIG difference is that the bad stuff bush did @ 60 mph this bozo is doing @ 6000 mph. Sorry skippy, you're the nazi, keep on goosestepping in line w/ the rest of the socialist.THAT is the fact's, they're there & we're NOT going to be silent about it any longer. Do try to brush up on your fact checking skills so you dont look like such a pre-programed left wing socialist fool. Have a nice day!

85/435 is 19%... not "less than 1%", like you claim. That's nearly 1/5th of the country. However, if you figure these people won by a simple majority of 51% (which i'm sure some of them won by a landslide) that's still 9.5% of the country or 1/10 people, which is still 10% of the countries views. Your argument is invalid.

FROM WIKIPEDIA The Tea Party movement (TPM) is an American populist[1][2][3] political movement that is generally recognized as conservative and libertarian,[4][5] and has sponsored protests and supported political candidates since 2009.[6][7][8] It endorses reduced government spending,[9][10] opposition to taxation in varying degrees,[10] reduction of the national debt and federal budget deficit,[9] and adherence to an originalist interpretation of the United States ConstitutioN it goes without saying but here is there agenda Peace

Their promise was to try to get our fiscal house in order by reducing the size and scope of the federal government. When the debt reached 14.4 trillion,( an untenable and unsustainable number), I suspect that they saw the handwriting on the wall and pushed for some sanity by demanding that congress quit spending money it doesn't have on programs we don't need. Currently there is enough money coming in to take care of SS and pay the interest on the debt. Without a drastic cut in federal spending, that won't be the case for long. Most members would agree to raising the debt ceiling (temporarily,)(IF) and only if congress agrees to act responsibly by reducing spending to manageable levels. Now what is wrong with this idea??

Interestingly enough, the United States is not simply or technically a democracy either. So worrying about the democratic nature of things isn't exactly worrisome.

What about Obama? He can veto bills and budgets we the people are demanding. How democratic is that?

Congress is made of two legislative bodies. The House of Representatives, who represent the people, and the Senate. Only the House can initiate revenue-raising and appropriation bills.

The House keeps sending budgets to the Senate and President, and the budgets keep getting rejected. Fine, but the House of Representatives represent the people. We're only giving government a certain amount and they'll have to live within their budget. If they can't, too bad.

People voted the tea party in as a gut reaction.
It was like getting pissed and smashing a vase.
Now you have to pick up the pieces, and your vase is broken.

I'm sure the states who sent these new congressmen to Washington, now see they made a terrible mistake. You can tell the most competent congessmen are ready to stangle them. Most certainly the states do see it as they are the ones keeping even the Republican party from doing their jobs. They've been holding the whole country hostage with this most unreliable and unintelligent game.

Can those states begin some kind of impeachment process, or reel them back home by outright firing them; not allowing them to finish their terms?

That is a very good question. I think they have to be voted out unless they are found guilty of some wrongdoing. I never thought I'd feel sorry for John Boehner...but I do.

".... You see we can see the Tea Party viewpoint and in better times might support it But in the current economic climate to cut back significantly on government when [good or bad] the government is the leading employer in the USA is like playing with fire in dry forest - everyone will be burned and no forest will remain!"

As we remember history Ronald Reagan appeared as the right man at the right time - and times and the economy improved significantly and whether it was because of his policies could be argued. But NOW the fact is times are bad with high unemployment and do you know who the leading employer in the country is - you guessed it The United States Government. Is this good? Maybe not and maybe the Tea Party and Conservatives have some valid points - but this is not the time to cut back significantly on government spending cause it will lead to more unemployment [ govt. workers you fire will now be collecting unemployment insurance]. And the less money the government hands out, the less of that money will be spent - what the anti-government crowd does not want to accept is the good side of government spending: Creates jobs and has more people spending money and putting that money back into the economy. And if any of you think there will be a sudden renaissance of capitalism because of extra money caused by govt. cut-backs, you are living in a dream world which could rapidly turn into a nightmare. Remember the only event which finally ended The Great Depression of 1929 was WW II and the corresponding massive government spending to fund it - Let's not let it get that bad this time. If nothing else The Tea Party is pushing their cause at the wrong time.

First of all the Tea Party is just a Grass Roots Movement. There are still just Democrats and Republicans. The Tea Party Movement was born in the Bailout era of the Bush Administration. The Republican Party hijacked it because they got their buts kicked in 2008. The Republicans were reaching out to anyone at that time. I have always been against any kind of Bailout by the Federal Government, by Democrats or Republicans, so is the Tea Party. You will find most all of the first Tea Party members voted for Obama because they were sick and tired of the over spending and bailouts of the Bush Administration. I voted for Obama for change and I got more of the same. I was one of the first Tea Party members. This movement didn't appear when Obama got elected. It was actually an anti Bush movement. I know I was one of the first members. When the Republicans hijacked the movement I left.

We really may be going into a deeper recession with all these stupid cuts and obsession on debt and deficits.

Eventhough economists know that to cut spending now is deadly on the economy, nevertheless the country is being led under an enormous amount of disinformation by the tea party fanatics and the traditional anti-human philosophy of conservative republicanism [ lovers of the rich and powerful].

Unfortunately, either Obama is the worst leader in history or he is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He has not led the country in educating them on the truth of economic realities, he has lamely accepted the falsehoods of the republican tea party propaganda and hysteria about deficits and debt. Indeed, there is no debt crisis in America. Interest on Bonds are very low, and is indicative that the world before this tea party republican manufactured fake crises, had great confidence in the American economic system. Obama has refused to educate the populace on these facts and has, as usual, folded and succumbed to the republican and tea party fallacious propaganda of fear and anti-human policies..

When is the right time? The Private Sector has taken a big hit. If we depend on the government for all employment then we are not a free capitalistic society anymore. The problem is government is too big, corrupt and controlling. We need a lean and mean government staying within the confines of the Constitution. This is possible today with the technology we have. The Private Sector should be the number one employer in this country and that doesn't mean private sector jobs under government contracts like the Military Industrial Complex.

“Where have all the men of vision, the true leaders and men's men gone? All we have are these dwarfs and gnomes. Even Ron Paul who I greatly respect and admire for his thinking is far from the man and leader we need. I am not sure what it is, those who survived the Depression and WWII had so much more character, vision and knew what it was about our nation that was worth loving and defending. Now, we have these who are so corrupted, a generation corrupted, that I am certain our ancestors would consider many to be sub-human....I include Reid and Obama and most of these politicians on that list and truly fear for the future of my children and their children if they survive. Many are trying to say their is no God and I will concede here that I know of no organized religion where God lives but their is a Creator and thus this must all be some kind of gleaning process through the generations to find those who are fit to inherit and inhabit the future. If you sleep well with yourself, I suspect you know it is not you I am talking about but the rest of you know...you know and you know your time is running out.
