If we really want to talk about spending, burn the insurance companies, nationalize big pharma, cancel the government option, and pay the doctor directly for doing his damn job.

Trillions saved.

This is to the original post. Exactly how is wanting the full restoration of the US Constitution anti-democratic?
Do you like seeing the weekly police beatdowns, the weather modification, the gov. preventing help/disarming citizens as in New Orleans/ Katrina, allowing the continued op's of drilling by uncompliant corporate entities, the removal of citizens from their homes illegally whom never had homeloans on the call of a bank, the taserings up to death(elderly, infant, crippled/handicapped, distraught, those that call the cops), the nationwide craze of law enforcement to assassinate family pets, prosecution/persecution of videographers, unaccountability, etc.
Are you serious? Read the Declaration of Independence. It tells why we broke away. So if you can tell me you would agree that, for sake of argument, that your kids could be locked up until a debt you owed before you passed away is paid in full, I will puke at what this world has turned into.
The Tea Party organization was hijacked by Palin and few other politicians looking to direct our anger, manipulate the message. It still consists of the people who made it happen despite what the figure heads say.
And there were 40 TP supported candidates that made it to congress. Only 8 of which voted against the Patriot Act Extension.

race based. That's pretty funny. That's the hilarious garbage spewed out of DailyKos and Huffpo, the Soros machine in order to deface the Tea Party and render it useless. You got punked by the commies bud.

In fact, it's really a travesty the first Black President of the US turned out to be an anti-American, anti-Constitutionalist Marxist communist globalist One Worlder. Ok well they will be One Worlders because the NWO has such a stronghold now. You can bet I would vote for Allen West in a heartbeat. Too bad he's not running this time.

Everything you've said here is f***ing insane and not based in reality. Seriously, do you ever take a step back and look at what you're saying?

The tea party is hardly grass roots. It is run and controlled by billionaire elites. I feel sorry for the decent and moral people that have been fooled into thinking that the tea party is about their interests and not the mega rich.

Basically the tea party elite want to destroy the safety net and make sure that our money stays with the elite. A default would facilitate their goals.

The Tea party plan is to take more from the man on the street ( Medicare, social security, road repair, schools , making sure his air is fit to breathe...etc) and nothing from Wall Street and the international corporations that caused this mess. They actually have sold the nonsense that the poor and middle class are to blame for the mess we are in because we have too much and Wall Street does not have enough!!!

There will be no default...

Get the Facts!

The Tea Party is a political strawman argument for the Left to bash and the Right to lean on when they want to sound like they support the average American, when in fact they are you and me. People on the left, on the right and in the Tea Party are all the same except that they all believe they are different from one another because of the title they apply to their political views.

There will be no default because we are capable of paying all of our bills, see above link to understand this. Everything will be PAID.

~Namaste

Why my good sir, a full restoration to the constitution would mean the death of democracy. Good.

This is a republic, not a democracy.

You Sir... Are a Disgrace....

THANK YOU! You have clearly illustrated the REAL reason the Republicans (that includes those under the 'tea party' banner, of course) are holding up this inevitable raise in the debt ceiling. Because they want Obama to fail, even if it means economic collapse! It wont effect them, they have plenty of money.

At least you can admit this has nothing to do with 'spending' (Since they arent addressing any of the REAL expenditures). It's just politics.

Your candor is appreciated.

Exactly right.

The Tea Party is staying true to their stated beliefs, nothing more, nothing less.

The US is not in need of more credit. It is in need of less spending to resolve the shortfall. Simple solution is close down the all the stupid wars we are involved in, bring the soldiers home and put them to work on repairing the crumbling infrastructure here at home.

And when is it that the 'Tea Party" (Who just so happen to all be Republicans) get around to ending those wars and bringing those soldiers home, and putting them to work'?????????????

You are so wrong that you even think the U.S. is a democracy. That's how brainwashed people like you are. The U.S. is not a democracy, it is foremost a Constitutional Republic. In a democracy that mayority can take away the rights of the minority, and sorry to tell you but the Tea Party is not trying to take away the rights of the minority, but instead are trying to bring back some sense to government and these United States.

What Ronald Reagan did back in the 80s would not work now. You can't keep raising the debt simply because it will keep trickling down to the consumers, which means the citizens/legal residents, and we will have to pay more taxes, the prices of everything will continue to increase, we will have to pay higher mortgages, etc, etc.

What the government needs to do is stop paying aid to other countries, and more so when those same countries own a part of the debt of the U.S. but they will not pay back this aid we are giving them. This is just stupid and I can't comprehend why Americans haven't realized the stupidity of lending aid to countries who won't forgive our debt when we have been giving them free money for decades. All the companies which received "stimulus" and including the executives should pay all that money back, and RETURN THE $9 - $13 TRILLION DOLLARS THAT WERE STOLEN FROM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE...

That alone will solve most of the problems of this MADE UP CRISIS...

Short and sweet ---

The Tea Party is simply a group of folks funded by the WEALTHY to do the bidding for the WEALTHY at the expense of the middle class Americans who work a million times harder than the wealthy while making a million times less. They fight to keep the wealthy paying little to no taxes while they fight to strip American workers and American soldiers from getting benefits that they PAID for either via TAX money or RISKING THEIR LIVES in combat.

Its not hard to see who the TEA BAGGERS and CONSERVATIVE RIGHT WING-NUTS represent. And it is CERTAINLY NOT the American working class nor the American soldiers.

BUMS AND RATS!!!

The choice is plain, action or inaction. The history has been do nothing, and hope, that has been what has been seen on both the Republicans and the Democrats. There really is no model that can encompass what will happen if the country defaults. We can make educated guesses, but the question is what will happen if the budget is not reached? Who is affected and who is left unharmed. While we all sit and debate at who is bad for the country and what is going to happen, care to guess what the bottom line is going to be if a budget deal is not reached, well according to some Grandma will not be getting her social security check, however, there is one group that will get paid and we should be more upset at that, and that is the federal government. Congress is going to get their paychecks, the President, his cabinet, their aids people in DC are going to continue to get paid, and ultimately that is what should be the focus, on those people.
85 freshmen have halted the congress from doing its job, using political power to demand something. And yet is it a bad thing? After all, what would have happened if that many said wait a minute on say the patriot act, or the department of Homeland Security, or any other bad laws that are affecting all of us these days? Maybe the country needs more congressmen to stand up and say no, to hold up the system to look at what the long term effects are going to be. The republicans and the democrats all have had their chance, both parties have had their day, where they held the majority in congress and the executive branch and NEITHER DID ANYTHING TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. And the bottom line from that who is responsible, We the People. Every single person who voted to keep the same guy in office for years, that is who is to blame. Maybe we should take a page and look and say, if they don’t clean it up, replace them till we get a government that works for the people instead of this petty political bickering.

Just out of curiosity, do you know what a balanced budget means and it's implications? Before you Google it, do you really know what it means? I'm not interested in any philosophical stance you might be taking, it really doesn't matter to me. I'm really asking you a simple question with no strings attached. A simple yes or no will suffice plus a required 2nd line. Thank you in advance.

It’s anti-democratic and an abuse of power for 85 fanatics who have gained influence with the Republican Party to use their voting power in congress to blackmail the country by threatening to make the country, already weak economically, default if they don’t get their way.

I have refuted you “ republic” guys twice already. If you don’t know that tis country is a democracy, because you read something about a republic, then you know little about history and the philosophy of government, not to mention that my OP said nothing about America being a democracy or republic exclusively. The fact of the matter is that technically this country is a democracy and a republic and not one over the other.

No country is entirely a democracy or republic, a country uses democratic means
[ majority vote] and institutions to maintain a republic.
