Still nothing concrete as of yet. I wonder what evidence makes the police think that the two incidents are related versus being a crime of opportunity?

I've been wondering the same. Most everyone here has assumed the two events are linked, but personally I've seen nothing to discount the "lunatic with a gun" theory either.

I translated the article about the gunman on the island.

A man in police uniform to have attracted young people by saying "come here" and then usually just executed them, said witnesses to NRK reporter on the spot.

It very well could be a nut job with great leadership abilities.

So I read this thread and thought "Ooh! Let me turn on the news!"

First I turned on CNN and this is what I saw:

Then I went to FoxNews and this is what I saw:

Then I turned on MSNBC and this is what I saw:

...And people wonder why our country is so messed up?

I agree with your sentiments. Our media priorities are so messed up.

My prayers are with the people of Norway. They're going to need support.

I'm surprised it took them so long. The NATO has been terrorizing around the world for years.

Could be seen as karma catching up.

The sad thing is that innocent people have to suffer, and not the ones responsible.

Hi CNN in English reporting ok.

Anyway we both know, not good but true, this is with 95% probability forigners there done this. Please convince me otherwise.

Also, as I stated there is a big change that this is also just another sting in the fragile situation we are balanced in with 13 DKK for one liter of gash.

Trust me Norweigen is very good freinds with the states, and if the states is as bad as many people says here on ATS they will talk with there northhern allyes about revenge.

Then the states will use it as an excuse to attack yet another country.

Personelly I think they´ll get whats comming but that is problery just me.

Thanks,

Utøya is owned by the Workers' Youth League, it is the youth organization of the Norwegian Labour Party and the camp is dedicated in particular to fighting xenophobia and islamophobia.

In Norwegian

Translated to English

-To ever be mistenkeliggjort and rejected by a community do something with you, said Dagbladet debate editor on a political Marte Michelet yard on The island.

Michelet, to a full great Hall about integration and immigration policies. She used her own in-laws as an example of how it is to be asylum seeker to get to a new country. She expressed concern about the increasingly stuerene islamofobien who dominate the Government immigration debate.
-Previously, most AUFagreeing with. The dominant society must adapt so that minorities feel welcome. Today it is increasingly accepted to blame immigrants and assert that all the missing integration is their own fault.
In his introduction, she also warned against the blåbrune the right parties who gained great influence in European politics.

-After the fall was the dominant form of Islamophobia European racism. The more unacceptable form of General racism, was linked to the Muslims. "They will not integrate. They lack manners. They will only take advantage of our welfare. They are potential terrorists. " All this can be found in the debates on all issues of integration and immigration, she said.

Why would Muslim terrorists want to attack a youth group which is dedicated to helping the Muslim community and battle the right-wing? It makes absolutely no sense... unless they are not Muslims.

Ahh, Oslo...home of the Peace Accords between the palestinians and israelis.
How's that working out these days?
Could there possibly be something symbolic in the chosen Capital of this attack?
No offence, but the last time I remember a group shooting kids/singling out kids was Beslan in Russia.
Who were they again?
Granted, the US are great at killing kids and parents too (in whatever war torn country you choose to think of,) but they tend to bomb indiscriminately, rather than specifically.
Who knows...

what is the 95% it's foreigners based on? The gunman arrested by the police on utøya was a norwegian with an accent of people coming from the area around oslo. The same guy has been seen at the bombsite before the bomb went off. Think this is an attack from the inside, and the attack is on the political party AP, which the current norwegian prime minister is a part of. What the motives of the attack is just becomes pure speculation but for now it looks more like a lunatic then some terrorist organisation.

Interesting . . . how far apart was the shooting to the bombing? Perhaps they're related, but not in the way most easily assumed. Maybe the shootings were inspired by the bombing, for example? Like the guy recently executed for killing a Muslim store clerk in retaliation for 9/11. I don't know, just theorizing.

Edit: And that's assuming (which I don't ever like to do) that the bombing was related to Islamic extremism.

Oslo and Utøya is about 35 minutes apart. There is huge speculation in the local media that the same guy was seen about 2 minutes before the bomb went off.

Why would a left wing group attack a left wing organization, or a right wing group attack a right wing organization? Serves a purpose. Black Flag operation. Your tall blond white man as described by a 'police officer' is a patsy. Actually, WHO is this police officer that described the assailant? It's ironic that the 'assailant' was dressed and disguised as a policeman. How do we know the person who gave the description isn't on the same side and has now walked away into the crowds anonymously, while the police chiefs and police force go, "So, which one of us actually identified the suspect as being tall and blonde?"
Just an alternative thought.
Lets see what the innocent bystanders say.

There don't seem to be many details? Tall blonde who speaks fluent Norwegian, or was it actually 3 gunman on an island? No groups taking responsibility.

Why Norway on July 22nd?

The attack occurred near a prime ministers office in Oslo not the Stavangar airport or Sola so I doubt its al queda.
Just 3 unaffiliated nuts?

Based on the norweigen news. They are prob. the only once with resources to pull it off.

Also as I stated in the 22 world conflicts are active, 21 of them is muslim post, I belive it has to do with the Muhammed drawnings - who the # cares anyway - and that the fact is that they believe everyone must pray to allah.

There is nothing wrong with believing. But the way muslims is acting in ex. copenhagen, it is simply not possible for me to forgive burning my flag in an instant and listening to there hate against my country while they cash in my damn health insurance i pay taxes for existing.

As stated 95% properbility for, that it will turns out to be some forign organisation.

Thanks,

Agreed, you are also right on with the ongoing conflicts that are caused by Islamic fundamentalism.

Has Denmark increased security around government buildings, airports, city centers, etc?

According to the FB-page of Torbjørn Vereide, whom swam from the island, there were multiple (three ?) shooters.

I heard an interview with an eyewitness to the island shooting on the radio. She said the shots were coming from all directions. Instead of asking her relevant questions, like how many gunmen there were, the reporter ask her if she felt safe hiding under a desk the whole time. Ahh the media....

To the guy who was saying the shooter wasn't a shooter:

There's at least 15 bodies in that picture alone so I don't know why the police are claiming only "7 or 8 dead" at the island youth retreat.

Also it could be a legitimate police officer involved with the rescue efforts or looking for the shooter/additional bombs.
