Some people are realists and would like to hear about it if something ever does come up. Or at least have been aware of it's existence before it goes national or world wide because once that happens the lies and the hyperbole will likely jade the original truth.

There are very few skeptics here who say they outright "don't" believe in aliens or UFO's.
Being a skeptic does not automatically make you a none believer. It simply means you need evidence in order to prove a hypothesis.
Once you remove all mundane explanations then you can say you have something.

first off great thread title

skeptics dont say astronomers report no "ufos" its the fact astronomers should be reporting the most but thats not the case.

I'll give you a tip - dont believe anything you read from ufo-digest.com

Do you think UFO Digest would just make all of this up? Really, you're just going to assume that? Well if you actually read the posts on the 1st page you'd find this link stating the same thing that isnt from UFO Digest, english.cas.cn...

Your source is wrong on the speed. 29 000 meters per second (equalling 29 km/hour) is ;

29000 x 60 seconds, x60 minutes, equals 104,400,000 meters per second or divided by 1000

it equals 104,400 km/hour which in US translates to 64,871.15 Miles/hour (mph)! Now that sounds like real UFO speed!

The author seems to not know basic math. How reliable can he be?

I remember reading about this when it was first released. I avoided posting it on my site as it was a circular reference between wikipedia, the original poster and a few non mainstream news outlets. It's now 6+ months on and there has been no further detail or information. Why aren't others seeing these UFOs? My excitement over this "revelation" has completed died now. Another internet "non-event"

Look at the . before the 29000, I think that makes a difference.

Still I'm not sure how that goes to 216mph, maybe I'm not good at calculating(with a calculator of course
)....

the clue is...

Extra Ordinary Claims needs Extraordinary EVIDENCE...

Something an astronomer would certainly die to bring on the table...

Either CIA Came and took the video...Either CGI...

cool i wanna be on ATS that day!!
come on...

I BELIEVE 100% there is intelligent life in the universe..

but I will not state my position on Earth visitation until good evidence is produced

we are in a UFO forum waiting for that evidence..someday

Thank you for the wonderful display of the mental deficit required to make a leap from "Thing in sky" to "extraterrestrial."

An "Astronomer" (a person who's occupation it is to observe stars and celestrial objects) does not have the qualifications or the knowledge to state that the objects he's seen in the upper atmosphere (Unidentified Flying Objects) are technological, using anti-gravity engines, and are extra-terrestrial.

A person with the qualifications to make that leap of logic would be an aeronautical engineer, one who specializes in the specifics of theoretical astrophysics that is required to know what "anti-gravity engines" should look like.

And even then, we have come no closer to understanding this phenomenon, for we would only have the word of an expert who (if being truthful) is recollecting what his subjective memory holds.

If what came with him was several clear, non-blurry, comparative footage/photograph, and with the applied physics calculations to back his assertions, then you'd have the first step in possibly the greatest discovery of the human race.

But all you are jumping on right now is the word of a man who only knows that whats in the sky sometimes isn't a normal celestrial body. Whoop-de-doo.

and I think we can put a lot of stock into what he is saying, based on his credentials

As a skeptic I have never once argued that astronomers should be seeing more UFOs, that doesn't even enter into my thoughts when the subject of aliens comes up. No one disbelieves in UFOs, since they're just unidentified, what they disbelieve is that these unidentified objects are best explained as alien spacecraft. So your appeal to authority is worthless.

I've seen a UFO before and yet I don't believe aliens have ever visited the planet. Filling in the "UFOs are BLANK" with alien spacecraft is a bit premature given the lack of evidence don't you think? Should we not wait for evidence more than reports of people seeing things?

The article doesn't provide links to any evidence, at all, just the unsubstantiated claims of an astronomer.

Taking it in the teeth?

Ah yes, those evil, vile "debunkers".....lol. Yes, they are the ones that make this subject out to be the laughable joke that it is. Nice to see them getting kicked for a change. Thank goodness, Now we can go back to embracing the complete idiocy that the believers have saddled us with instead of focusing on making this subject mature and debatable.

Ah, how typical of the believers to take everything at face-value. Classical appeal to authority. If all astronomers and astrophysicists unanimously came to the agreement that the UFO phenomena is of extraterrestrial origins without any form of evidence, they would still not be taken seriously and rightfully so. After the passing of many decades, there is still not any tangible evidence of alien visitation. Also, if you were paying attention, the astronomer did not mention anything about an alien presence. Just coming to conclusion of the vehicles he observed, which can have much more logical explanations than to be of alien origins.

The gullibility of the believer never ceases to amaze me.

Toss out the crap and we can all relish in the truth when it comes.

Again, you are using an appeal-to-authority. It does not matter if WolfofWar is not an astronomer or that Wang Sichao is; the strength of their arguments relies on the evidence to support it, not their positions or perceived authority.

I just can't fathom what is so stupendous about any astronomer "disclosing" that they have seen something in the sky they could not identify. Sure, they are professional observers but they are still subject to the same human inadequacies and data collecting shortcomings we all are. They are fallible observers as well.

Wang, like a lot of other people, are making claims wildly without any proof. This is a self admitted belief of his not something waiting to be published in Scientific American. But hey, its good to know he is having a problem identifying this stuff like the rest of us...

And the article is almost a year old. Why have we not heard more about this? Why are dozens of astronomers not presenting their evidence? Surely if they have good evidence of alien craft there's a Nobel prize in it for them. Proving the human race isn't alone in the Universe, supposing they actually have conclusive evidence, would change the world and likely catapult the scientist who presented the findings into the history books.

People are always claiming scientific or government cover-ups but if there were conclusive evidence visible to astronomers it'd be impossible to keep under wraps even if they tried to do so. Not all scientists can be government employees or sinister shills willing to sell out to keep their mouths shut.

Flippant racism and xenophobia....nice one buddy

It was a joke.

Did you happen to notice all of the laughing faces?

Some of you really need to lighten up

I am really disappointed in the mods taking my comment out, that really was not that bad. Yet they leave other rubbish to play.............I could care less if he was purple.....It was not a racist remark.......It is a funny name...

To tell you the truth.

There is nothing more that I want than to have "disclosure" happen (which I believe is a myth)...The problem is all of the "experts"(such as MR Wang) have not one piece of undeniable evidence..........It all can be explained.....

Forgive me for not jumping on the gullible boat....I still click on these threads because they just maybe one day have something.

I have not seen it yet.
