I think you're right, but I also think it's important to understand that the ramifications of revealing such information for the government that controls NASA are stupendous. It would to a certain degree not be up to NASA to release said information, the official protocol for finding life in space is that they must notify the government before they release anything, with that said, I don't think it's up to NASA what we know about it.

Thanks for the reply!

Seems perfectly legit to me, he hasn't written a paper or anything on the subject I don't think and it seems that these remarks were made on some sort of program in china, when asked about UFO's and his thoughts on them.

Couldn't agree more, I am noticing more and more suspicious activity from governments all over the world of late.

In Australia here, we have a prime minister who is starting to become a dictator!! think I'm joking, she has an approval rating of less than 25% and still is NOT listening to her own country... so much for democracy here

In the States, I keep hearing stories about Obama doing what's best for the NWO regardless of it's impacts on Americans.

Egypt : well aside from what has happened there more recently, I read up about how they no longer allow civilians to go near the pyramids etc.. seems pretty suspicious too

Greece : economy is in turmoil from what I've read in the frequent RSS feeds from ATS that I get..

I could go on but yeah it just seems to me that these governments are starting to become more brazen with their direct restrictions that they are placing on civilians.

AND to tie this into what you have said, I couldn't agree more that NASA may have the best of intentions or they maybe once did... but unfortunately space stuff costs money and the government stipulates terms and conditions about how their money is used .. and no doubt one of these terms would be to keep things like this out of the public eye for the reasons previously noted... It just goes to show that terms like conspiracy theorist are becoming so common place now that it will soon just mean.. Normal Citizen fearing the loss of their rights as a human being as they watch their own governments turn their backs on them.

Even a guy like my boss at work is starting to notice just how corrupt everything is AND HE is always calling those that believe the Government does not have our best interests at heart.. "crazy nutters" or "a bit touched" etc.. but even someone like him actually said, "I think you're right, we really are not a democracy any more" (which was said in reference to our prime minister making a deal with another minister to ensure that she remains untouchable until her 3 year term of "cough" leadership "cough" DICTATORSHIP is ended.

hope this doesn't seem like I'm taking this thread in a wrong direction, I just feel that this does relate to the integrity of governing bodies ..which relates to the reliability we can have on information coming from organisations that are funded by them.

first off great thread title

skeptics dont say astronomers report no "ufos" its the fact astronomers should be reporting the most but thats not the case.

I'll give you a tip - dont believe anything you read from ufo-digest.com

Didn't write it actually. There may be a rather obvious reason that you will find what you asserted to be the case, there are penalties attached to that kind of research and reporting.

Scientists cannot appear to be religious, and cannot believe in UFO's. There are penalties.

Here's a tip from my way, dig a little deeper before throwing stones, it's dangerous in glass houses. Thanks though

mr wang (smirk) doesnt really sound sane to me. Predicting alien visitation in 2011/2012? and if they invade we could beat them back becuase they have weaknesses

i wont hold my breath

hmmmm...UFOs aren't real, just like the MJ 12 documents aren't real....how do the so-called "experts" know for a fact either one isn't real? do they have solid evidence they're not real??

I personally would love to hear a discloser of professional scientists to come out, That sure is a good find even if a thread has been made about it, Would love to read more on this guy. SnF my friend

Proof that you see something in the sky

does NOT equal

Proof that thing in the sky is of an intelligent extraterrestrial/demonic/ghostly/inter-dimensional origin.

I should believe someone named WANG.

Debunkers like you have asked over and over again "Where are all expert astronomers testimony's if there are supposedly UFO's flying everywhere???" Wow.. really?

Oh, and there's more comments here that are trolling. In the same respect we don't believe in what you troll debunkers are saying... If you're not willing to ease up when we get our shreds of evidence then go away.. I'ts really easy to say "Yea UFO's don't exist" or "Yea their totally man made" but getting credible evidence that they just might be from somewhere other than earth is hard.. stop being a troll. S & F OP.. thanks for the read.

Here's an interesting article, and a great title, although I didn't write it.

One of the favorite trills of the debunkers' flute is, "If there are all these UFOs up there, why haven't any professional astronomers reported seeing them?"

Wang Sichao is a professional astronomer at Purple Hills Observatory of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. With 39 years of experience, he is someone we should take very seriously.

Wang said that UFOs have appeared many times in the terrestrial space at an altitude of between 130 kilometers (80 miles) to 1,500 kilometers (932 miles). He said they have been observed to fly at speeds much slower than "the first cosmic velocity", some as slow as .29kilometers per second.(317.1 yards/sec or 216 mph). Wang said they are able to do this for more than 25 minutes, meaning they have anti-gravity capabilities. If they did not have anti-gravity capabilities, they could not stay in their positions at that speed, and would be dragged earthward by gravity.
www.ufodigest.com...

He may be one of the first to come out and confirm something of this nature and I think we can put a lot of stock into what he is saying, based on his credentials. Hopefully other astronomers will follow his lead.

Cheers

Interesting that the astronomer didn't take into consideration the idea of a lighter than air craft, or vectored thrust from a chemical engine, before jumping to the conclusion of "anti-gravity" technology.

If he has made these observations for years at the Purple Mountain Observatory, where is the empirical evidence to support his conclusions? Why hasn't he produced a paper detailing his findings?

I agree "legit" astronomers produce data outlining their discoveries.
I call shenanigans.

Then once given said footage you'll just go:
"Meh, just more special effects diarrhea without any proof of validity. Stop talking and give us the next thing we can say 'meh' to once its supplied as requested."

Yes, where is all the expert astronomers' testimony? You have one. Out of the thousands of professional and amateur astronomers out there, observing the sky every night of then year, you would expect many more UFO sightings. Outside of the one astronomer who hasn't backed up his claims, the source article requires special-pleading to explain why more astronomers are not making these observations.

Dr. Wang Sichao's testimony isn't credible, because all he has is a claim. As a scientist, he should be producing the evidence to support those claims. But thus far, he hasn't. Saying his claims are credible or that this proves anything is an appeal-to-authority, based on not any evidence but his position.

I'd have thunk the same thing to be franklin, but why have the CAS posted his comments on their site?

All I was saying was that he's absolutely not a make believe scientist, he has obviously had a lot of his work published, and I would assume he also has the respect of his peers in China or the CAS wouldn't touch his comments with a barge pole.

Shenanigans are a possibility, but of what kind? If he's a nut, why would his peers not expose him? Of course they would!!

Don't get how this is anti-debunking?

All he seems to say is he's seen stuff in the atmosphere and doesn't know what it is, ie. a Unidentified Flying Object.

en.wikipedia.org...

Studies have established that the majority of UFOs are observations of some real but conventional object—most commonly aircraft, balloons, noctilucent clouds, nacreous clouds, or astronomical objects such as meteors or bright planets – that have been misidentified by the observer as anomalies, while a small percentage of reported UFOs are hoaxes.[3] However, after excluding these incorrect reports, between 5% and 20% of the total remain unexplained, and so can be classified as unidentified in the strictest sense. Many such reports have been made by trained observers such as pilots, police and the military; some involve radar traces, so not all reports are visual.[4] Proponents of an extraterrestrial hypothesis believe that these unidentified reports are of alien spacecraft, though various other hypotheses have been proposed......

Astronomer reports The United States Air Force's Project Blue Book files indicate that approximately 1 %[66] of all unknown reports came from amateur and professional astronomers or other users of telescopes (such as missile trackers or surveyors). In 1952, astronomer J. Allen Hynek, then a consultant to Blue Book, conducted a small survey of 45 fellow professional astronomers. Five reported UFO sightings (about 11%). In the 1970s, astrophysicist Peter A. Sturrock conducted two large surveys of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and American Astronomical Society. About 5 % of the members polled indicated that they had had UFO sightings.

I don't know why they always maintain that professional astronomers don't see them.

Its an outright lie. They maintain an official lie.

Repeat something many times and its supposed to be true?

They've even done studies on the amount, apparently up to 11% of them do.

For a start it's from Puprle Mountain Observatory, not Purple Hills. Let's get the very basics correct.

www.pmo.ac.cn...

More about Wang Sichao here -

en.wikipedia.org...

That article appears to have been 95% written by one user - Nima Baghaei.
en.wikipedia.org...

All the references, 12 of them are from People's Daily, only one of them is anything to do with UFO's and only two of the references are actually used in the Wiki article.

Hardly astounding credibility to this 'story'.
