Funny how before the invention of aircraft there was commerce, business and pleasure.

Flying is a convenience- one that saves time. There is no Constitutional right to board someone else's aircraft. PERIOD.

So on one hand you are justifying what the TSA does, and on the other you are saying they are not normal. But private security firms act normal and with conscience...

Please state where I justified intrusive searches. You can't because I did not.

TSA is ineffectual, hamhanded, overly intrusive and poorly managed. I can give you horror stories about these boobs- I was a cop at an airport for 6 years. They've threatened to arrest people (and went to jail for impersonation of an LEO), had blue lights in their vehicles (same result) and one nincompoop (TSA supervisor whose previous job was the night manager for WAFFLE HOUSE) shut down ILM because the explosives detector K9 ran down the exit lane of the checkpoint... the EFFING DOG!!!!!

What I am saying and outlining is that the searches performed are with the implied consent of the passenger in accordance with the Contract of Carriage.

I am further saying that nobody has the right to use another's property without complying with the wishes of the owner. I cannot demand you drive me somewhere, demand to use your home, your refrigerator or any other piece of your property without your permission and my adherence to your conditions.

Airlines can opt out of TSA and hire private security. Most security firms are "at will" employers and the employees can be terminated for any reason at any time. As such they tend to behave like normal people and screen passengers effectively without the need to go "hands on".

TSA is civil service and as a result of 60 years of unionization and civil service rules it is about impossible for them to get fired. It's no different than the PBA or FOP standing up for an abusive police officer.

DHS propagates nonsensical rules to desensitize us to being stopped and having our stones juggled.

People with little/no understanding of the legal system, contractual laws & obligations, criminal law and it's application and the US Constitution prattle on about 4th Amendment issues and sexual assault while TPTB laugh their collective asses off at our ignorance because that is what they want. If people woke up and realized HOW to change the system, that there were options to TSA intrusiveness and stopped being lazy prats and took the time to educate themselves... then they'd be shaking in their boots.

But keep playing THEIR game by THEIR rules. Keep going on about 4th Amendment issues that don't apply and sexual assaults that aren't. DON'T take the time to educate yourself and prattle on and on while not making any effort whatsoever to change the system by the sole means it can be changed.

I choose differently.

A certain level of security is needed to prevent the continuation of similar threats, but using isolated incidents as an excuse for creating a level of security for the purpose preventing those isolated incidents is complete overkill.

9/11 was an isolated incident, however over-the-top it may have been. How many times has someone else taken a plane into a building since then, or a football stadium, or a concert? Did you know, not all plane owners are required to go through TSA, nor are their passengers? And guess what, there are some pretty large private planes out there highly capable of doing some real damage. Does this now change your argument to "Don't want to get groped? Buy a private jet."?

Oh, so the security is in place to prevent "hijacking" in order to protect the 'other passengers'? Right. Well, it's pretty safe to say no one will be 'hijacking' their own plane since they already have full control of it, so that argument is out the window, which makes the only other reasoning preventing the large amount of people on the planes from being put in any danger. By this logic, the TSA level of security we currently deal with to fly should be used by any and all mass transportation systems. You know, the city bus, Greyhound, trains, subway, light-rail, ferries, etc.

Better yet, why not just have TSA wherever they may think any large group of people may congregate? You know, buildings, cruise ships, rock concerts, festivals, churches, holiday events, etc.

Need I go on? If so, please grab some rope, and find your preferred route into the afterlife.

Every day, isolated incidents are now stripping away our freedoms and our privacy. We must put our foot down before this diseased logic spreads into other aspects of our lives or soon we won't have either freedom nor privacy.

I starred your post and I agree with a LOT of it.

The point where I digress is that airlines have had security procedures in place since before I was born. TSA has taken these procedures to ridiculous extremes. My point all along has been that flying is a voluntary exercise. Nobody is rounding people up at gunpoint and forcing them onto aircraft. Part of the voluntary exercise is giving consent to searches to your person and possessions prior to boarding the aircraft. If you do not consent you do not fly.

The owner of the aircraft can set whatever rules he/she wants. If Delta wanted everyone to fly butt naked it is their right to do so. The airline would fail since very few people would wish to do so- and THERE is the solution!

How does one change the role of TSA and their procedures? By hitting the airlines who allow TSA to conduct their screening by refusing to fly or taking alternative transport. The time to so so is NOW. DHS wants to expand the roles of these fools into other venues. As long as people pony up the cash to fly commercially for their own convenience things will not change. Matter of fact they'll only get worse.

My understanding is that people who make comments are subject to further harassment.

I'm thinking back to that woman who wanted the police after she was groped and everyone stood there like zombies. It was as if no one had a clue as to proper procedure - get a police officer, officer takes complaint.

That's how ambiguous this policy is. No one knew what to do other than to further scrutinize the passenger as if SHE was the source of the problem.

Exactly. How can they call this felony sexual abuse but claim what they're doing is just routine security. It'd be nice if she had told the lady before grabbing her that she was just trying to protect her country and thought the TSA agent might have been concealing something dangerous.

You really think there is such thing as a "hot" TSA Agent? You'd probably have better luck finding something more attractive at a maximum security prison.

Revolution requires sacrifice and every one starts with individuals getting fed up and taking that first step.

Nobody is asking anyone to lay down their lives- just avail themselves of other transport. I'd rather WALK than knowingly and willingly subject myself to the undereducated TSA goon squad.

What have they done to America? This is NOT leading by example and it creates a clear picture for anyone interested in Equality, Freedom or "respecting your person". This is totally contrary to the Constitution and should be considered an attack on human rights. This woman should be able to do it to one TSA agent....if they do it to thousands every single day! What Hypocrites! America won't take this much longer. I would hate to be TSA or any other governement agent in the near future. They are just begging for an American revolt and it will happen.

I think the majority here has no real sympathy for the TSA Agent. Personally I am happy this lady grabbed the TSA Agent. What comes around goes around... the problem here however is that this women has been charged with Felony Sexual Abuse. So now the question has to be, if it is sexual abuse for a person to grab a TSA agent in the manner in which they grab us, then why is it NOT sexual abuse when the TSA does it? Let us be realistic.... this women will more than likely be convicted and rightfully so.

Interesting to note, for those who actually watched the video that comes with the news story, the News Reporter does not say she was charged with "felony sexual abuse" he simply calls it "felony abuse". I find the choice of words interesting, or lack of words.
