LAUGHABLE list.

Who the hell are Globalfirepower? What a joke.

How in the hell can anyone rank France as 8th in such lists is beyond me.
How is the UK below India as well?
France would wipe the floor with India, Turkey, and South Korea.

An undeniable, logical, sensible top 5...USA, Russia, China, France, UK.

What this crap list takes into account for some stupid reason is populations and man power.
How is Turkey though, going to beat France? France is a nuclear power. Turkey is not. Turkey is still at least 75% reliant on foreign powers to arm its armed forces.
How is it even ahead of Japan? The Japanese navy is huge compared to the Turkish navy.
Japan produces it's own tanks and other weapons platforms, and has serious intentions about buildings it's own fifth generation fighter. Turkey is only now just developing turbo prop trainer.

These sorts of lists are absolute rubbish. I bet you can find half a dozen other similar lists with different rankings. What it comes down to is what criteria is used.
And in this list, some pretty pointless criteria is obviously used when you have France down in 8th behind third world places like India and Turkey who only have cannon fodder going for them.

Indonesia, Thailand, Ukraine? WTF?

Where is Spain? Where is Greece? Greece is one of the most heavily armed countries in the world.
Both are part of NATO and employ the latest western/NATO tactics and so on. They would eat Indonesia, Thailand and Ukraine for breakfast. Sheer man power is not the answer to everything. Technology has surpassed that hurdle.

How is Egypt ranked ahead of Italy? Italy is the second strongest military power in the Mediterranean after France. It has aircraft carriers for Christ sake. It produces it's own weapons. And again, the same western/NATO doctrines etc as Italy and Greece. What's Egypt got going for it? Some dummy version Abrams and F16's?

Are Germany restricted when it comes to military?

I would have thought they would be above UK, Turkey and France.

The Wehrmacht of WW2 would take out most armys on that list.

Went through the list of the top 20 and some deletions have occured on firepower and military strength. Can't say who or what but I picked some of them up.

I disagree with that list, India should hold a much lower position, I can't go into detail as to why but trust me on that.

There are many in positions on that rank table I strongly dispute ie Turkey being higher than France or iirc Japan being above Israel, who compiled it???

I'd say the UK has some of the best all round soldiers in the world. Maybe not the numbers, maybe not the equipment - but by god we're expert strategists, have balls of steel and we've been doing it for a hell of a long time.

This may not contribute to the maths of how it is all worked out - but in any situation I'd rather have a Brit soldier at my side than any other bugger.

Are we to assume that your capitalising Israel is some subtle form of pointing them out? If I were surrounded by people who want to wipe me off the map, I would have a larger military as well.

What I think you mean to say is that if you invaded someone else's country (Palestine) with the intention of exterminating and displacing their population, it would require a large military.

USA with Britain is suppose to be number one right now according to the Daniel prophesy of the image.

But democracy and political upheavals make them a weaker #1 compared to other world powers through history.

I am VERY surprised to see UK so high up the list, especially if as has been stated this list does NOT account nuclear strength as a factor (by the way - how on earth can it be in any way realistic or accurate if it doesn't?) .

The UK have just made ourselves 'carrier-less' for several years, can barely afford to continue in Libya, or anywhere else for that matter, have a few Eurofighters and ancient jets scattered about, and way too few helicopters. We have a few good naval vessels, but, taking for instance the subs, they are primarily nuclear deterrant - so again, that may not afect this list. I just don't see it.

I would not have been surprised to have seen France above us for instance?

Interesting. The countries that we are screwing with right now don't even come in to the Top 30. What a bunch of pussies we are. It's not, "Make love, not war" anymore. It's "Make war, only with those with a marginal military."

What's even more amazing is those marginal military are kicking the behind of those in the top 10.

The people who set up the list most likely just looked at hardware and personnel. They did not take into account the culture nor the willingness to fight. Worthless list, only serves masturbatory discussions amongst Westerners, while their armies are being caned in Libya.

The real point of this list is of course, to show the US above China. As if it would go over our heads
Gotta cling on to that superior image for as long as you can eyyy...

this list is largely incorrect.
most governments dont give their full military details out to the public so most of this info is either guessing or lies.
i think china are no1 or very close to it.

individual might means nothing in a world of alliances.

They don't need to wait that long. The moment the nations of the EU hand all sovereignty to Germany through a new economic unity, all obstacles will be clear for a ginormous European army with nuclear power. But if Germany wanted it faster, they could. They have just passed a new law enabling foreign nationals to serve in their defense forces. Read my previous post. And as we all know, Germany by now has more money than it knows what to do with thanks to the financial crisis.

Excellent image. Wrong conclusion: the legs are the two pillars of the Eastern and Western Roman empires through the ages, with a final resurrection of 10 nations or regions (the toes) that stick together like iron and clay. We have yet to see this final stage - the EU is still evolving into a monster that has yet to make a stunning and sudden appearance. No one sees this hidden empire as a serious danger to world peace yet. Not even on ATS. But we will see it when an emperor is crowned by the Pope, and Rome will be its religious capital next to Berlin the temporal capital. Right now, virtually no one will agree with me. But you will see it in this lifetime.

Russia is number two, because of the following.

1. Logistics
2. Its Air Force
3. Its Navy
4. Its tanks.
5. Its gunships.
6. Its long range bombers.
7. Its anti aircraft systems.

a country's economy fuels its military budget.

china has the advantage in this.
so what ever one country has, china can make twice as much in half the time.
they have the man power and industry to own the list.

weapons are meaningles.
germany out gunned the world but got its arse handed to it in the end.

in a state of non world war the list is meaningles as everything will change if the needs declare it.

France and especially the UK shouldnt even be in the top 50. Look at how retarded they are performing in Libya right now. At this point its only the United States navy preventing Libya from invading and occupying both of those weaksauce countries.

Seems the UK is 'performing' far better than the United States has done, what with the F-15 rescue farce. The US Navy? The last time I checked the UK has it's own navy, with more advanced ships I might add. The remains of the US Navy that tried to engage the British now makes a lovely dock house in Portsmouth as of today.

The UK currently has two aircraft carriers with two building. It's military has 400 combat, transport and utility helicopters. It has one of the largest navies in the world, by ship number and by gross tonnage; it's Vanguard-class ballistic subs are actually a minority of the UK's submarine force, alongside a Swiftsure, Trafalgar, and Astute-classes. It has 160 Eurofighters and as many Tornado GR4 fighter-bombers, which have more than proven themselves against the likes of F-16s and F-15s during Red Flag.

Your pessimism aside, the list is sort of accurate- the one world corporate shadow government and the imminent financial situations of some of those top countries not withstanding.
