THAT WAS A JOKE RIGHT??????

it would be over pretty fast, as in a weel or so. no one has guns that would be willing to fight and those with guns would be busy screwing the population over to notice the invasion.

Not to mention how well the AMERICAN PEOPLE have been trained to lay down on command!!

Ohhh yeh it would be a turkey shoot.

Having the largest Naval fleet with all them cool and super expensive Aircraft carriers will do no good to you at the bottom of the ocean!!

Just to remind you of the US Navy skill ...... The uninvited guest: Chinese sub pops up in middle of U.S. Navy exercise, leaving military chiefs red-faced Read more: www.dailymail.co.uk...
Going around an kicking the crap out of countries unable to defend themselves, doesn't showcase skills, especially when in some of those countries they have successfully keep you tied up for years with no clear victory...... just saying

I'm surprised Turkey comes in before Israel because Israel could pop Turkey off if it ever comes down to the two. Turkey has the numbers but Israel's technology and highly desciplined/better trained military is way ahead and thats without ever having to use nuclear weapons. When it comes to urban warfare...Israel are the champs.

The problem with the USA is they have the best technology on the face of the planet and no country comes even close, however their soldiers are not well trained nor desciplined enough like that of Israel, Australia & NZ (ANZACs), South Korea or even China.

The Russian military are a proud lot....sometimes too proud that blind sights them, however I would'nt underestimate their technology. They have afew surprises up their sleeves no doubt.

Japan are a no brainer. Their economy is finished and in time their military will be of "yesterday" through lack of funding.

In future, the militaries I'd be watching more closely are Germany & Israel and perhaps India.

Australia 24th Indonesia 18th not good,I think we were closer to the Indo's till we retired or F1-11's last year, replacing them with FA18 Super Hornets has cost us air superiority in our region

The recent plan by the Defense Minister to introduce Super Hornets, reportedly to fill the capability gap that will result from the unnecessary early retirement of the F-111 and the entirely foreseeable delays in the delivery of the JSF, are representative of entrenched problems caused by a fundamental lack of appreciation of Air Power and an inability to conduct rigorous force structure and technical analyses capable of withstanding review. Both seem symptoms of a poor organization with inadequate technological and management skills. The introduction of Super Hornets is not a defensible policy as they will not provide the level of air superiority that Australia needs

www.ausairpower.net...

Super Hornet
Maximum speed: Mach 1.8+[12] (1,190 mph, 1,900 km/h)
F1-11
Maximum speed: Mach 2.5 (1,650 mph, 2,655 km/h)

Super Hornet
Combat radius: 390 nmi (449 mi, 722 km)
F1-11
Combat radius: 1,330 mi (1,160 nmi, 2,140 km)

Super Hornet
Service ceiling: 50,000+ ft (15,000+ m)
F1-11
Service ceiling: 66,000 ft (20,100 m)

Super Hornet
Hardpoints: 11 total: 2× wingtips, 6× under-wing, and 3× under-fuselage with a capacity of 17,750 lb (8,050 kg)
F1-11
Hardpoints: 11 in total (8× under-wing, 1× under-fuselage between engines) plus 2 attach points in weapons bay with a capacity of 31,500 lb (14,300 kg)

The Super Hornet is more maneuverable and has a much better rate of climb, and would be better in a dog fight,But we have FA18 Hornets for that,we need a fast long range bomber,

Having agreements with countries is not the same as being their slave.

If you were to look at it like that, you could say any of the nato countries were the proxy of each other, but you choose to point to Israel.

Why?

There is a difference between being in agreement than being a slave. US has never taken action against Israel even if US is in disagreement with Israel. I mean US politicians talked a lot of trash to confuse the American population, claiming they are against the colonial expansions, then turned around and offered Israel billions of dollars worth of military toys just to freeze them, (note - not to stop them, but only to freeze them for couple of months). This is the reality, US government can't do anything against Israel, and evidence is there that they never have.

All US presidents have to declare their allegiance to Israel, and they have, even Obama did, why do you think that is?

Regarding the world military strength, I agree that proxy forces should be also taken in to consideration, and the intelligence services like CIA.

The Americans can sell just about anything militarily to Israel and Israel will break it down and improve on the design and add their own technology.

I have to agree with you there. It would be great if both Australia and NZ shared the cost of an aircraft carrier for the South Pacific.

I would just like to say that in my army, I would much rather have volunteers who are willing to fight, than conscripts who have no choice.

On 21 April 2009, media reports, citing Pentagon sources, said that during 2007 and 2008, computer spies had managed to copy and siphon off several terabytes of data related to the F-35's design and electronics systems, potentially enabling the development of defense systems against the aircraft.[32] However, Lockheed Martin has rejected suggestions that the project has been compromised, saying that it "does not believe any classified information had been stolen".

India ranks #4 .....i don't think it should be in top 5,maybe its a #6 or a #7
i live in India and we really really need a modern army with all the modern hardware, our armed forces have the right attitude but not the wares or the right amount of autonomy to procure military hardware without the excessive delays caused by our political structure , i honestly think being in the neighborhood it is in ,we should have an even more active military R&D and consequential rapid deployment of the goods.
i don't worry about Pakistan one bit.....its china that gives me the goosebumps.

You might like to read some Franz Josef Strauss comments from his book 'The Grand Design' when he set out his ideas for Europe, which is not mentioned in this list. I've posted them here: www.abovetopsecret.com...

I also read a book on superpowers once, and how you measure/identify a super- or even hyperpower, but gave it away so I can't quote directly from it. But the gist of it was that the greatest military power on earth today is Europe when you combine all their nations. The only thing holding them back is a common economic government (which the Germans are pushing for by means of the Greek and other crises) which can then lead to a European army, the preparations of which are far advanced and waiting for the final rise to power of this seemingly slumbering behemoth of an empire.

those people you speak of that would just "lay down" would mostly be the ones without guns, i am sure MANY of the gun owners would fight if their country is invaded and people without will pick up whats on the ground, don't underestimate a situation, in fact i am sure there is some out there just itching for a fight, a revolution if you will

Reuters

(Reuters) - The United States has 90 guns for every 100 citizens, making it the most heavily armed society in the world, a report released on Tuesday said.

edit: oh and ^ thats just the legal ones
