Not to mention, that for a high ranking government official he seems quite liberal with information, and like he would probably have leaked it to some close friends and family (I mean c'mon, he was basically telling a room full of strangers). If it was something so serious as an ELE, he would hardly be a man i'd want keeping my secret bases and country in check...

I think the most likely scenario, is a lot of people in the US government are thinking a real economic collapse may be coming, and that there will be a lot of problems with that (civil war, whatever?).

In the advent of a total lost of communications, it would'nt be long before amateur radio can communicate, connecting their rigs to Duracell batteries, isolating the rig from electromagnetic fields etc....

interesting stuff. ill be keeping an eye on this.

Can you explain in what way magnetic fields would wipe peoples brains clean, and exactly what this would mean? Why would it only seem to wipe people to make them like zombies? Why not make them loose motor functions, or their life? I just don't see how something messing with our brains could only affect certain parts, i'd imagine if it effected our brain at all, we'd just die/go into a coma, but maybe i'm missing something?
Also in that case, why does the nasa prep video not mention lead helmets for employees?

That's why I'm kind of on the fence about the brain scrambling thing, but a few days ago the ISS had a computer failure that triggered an alarm... I wondered if it could have been caused by an approaching magnetic field, and an magnetic field would need to be powerful enough to cause a hard drive to fail.

If humanity was exactly like us for 50,000 years, and we only have about 2000-3000 years of coherent language, then what could have happened in the past?

I do believe that if Elenin is in fact some type of star, then it has an gravitational field that potentially has planets and moons orbiting this star.

I say at this point, whatever happens, happens. The government certainly will not be warning us of any kind of impending doom, that's for sure. The best thing all of us can do is be prepared, if something celestial is coming our way, just prepare your families, and see if anyhting happens. If nothing happens, hey, you will at least have a good supply of emergency food, water, and medical supplies.

I got my jager ready, so I'm ready when it comes, just let me get a couple of drinks in first before it kills me.

An out of the box guess would be when your friend heard the NASA stream instructing some to "prepare". Mabe, just maybe all these supplies are for a journey elsewhere and not supplies for actual living in an emergency on earth.

If a whole bunch of people were to be herded onto a ship and taken away, what would they ask you to bring? The preparedness list NASA and the CDC has already given to its employees?

That would be a rabbit hole worthy of a movie.

population control? maybe the higher ups and important people have a manmade vaccine for some kind of super virus that they will release on purpose to the general world population, people could really start getting sick and dying all around.
then of course whoever is in charge could very easily persuade who's left to come, and recieve an ''immunization'', but beware, thats only the first part, part 2 is secretly including a human version 'suicide gene' to specific targeted groups of peoples (ethnics)so that at the most like within 25 or so years these will bear no offspring, thuslysevering any possible branches on the family tree large scale, selective ethnic cleanings
if they had the power to cut the worlds population in half or whatever on purpose , and greatly increase the chance of who (what peoples?, what nations?) they choose to destroy. im far from smart, but even i know theres way a lotta people vs. some amount of resources.

I don't think that the fact that your (OP) friend was asked to leave the room is anything to worry about. I work for a medium sized (about 250 employees) privately held company and I often participate in meetings with senior management. The IT guys are often asked to leave when we discuss topics like salaries, business plans and even corporate parties, you name it. There are quite a lot of things that the board of directors keep confidential, and it never had anything to do with any mass extinction events, global disasters or anything sinister.

If it is something is going to happen I am okay with watching the pretty light show and enjoying the last few moments with my family...if I know about it ahead of time...well I imagine that is just more time to cherish them all a bit more than usual...either way...I doubt I will miss out on the great and last show!

Of my own vises though...I would love to have a cigarette lit when it all goes down...enjoy that last smoke I suppose!

Question: How you going to watch it with your family, when your family is like miles away, close to a nuclear plant that is spilling 10 gallons per minute due to unusual circumstances? Excuse is pretty lame to me.
