It is possible to hunt with a .22...but in that case the ammo REALLY matters...maybe some high velocity Raptor ammo would work well enough...but you would almost assuredly have to put more than one round in your target.
My personal choice though would be at least a .223 round for hunting anything larger than a coyote...the 7.62 family (including the .308) is nice for hunting because the larger round is better at single shot take-downs.edit on 12-7-2011 by coldkidc because: clarification
