To the poster who mentioned DreamScape... THAT was a great film, though in retrospect not as well acted as I thought it was at the time. LOL It wasn't really scary to me, but set a stage for suspicion towards TPTB in me that has carried through to this day.

I guess the movie has a cult following. When I was a kid, the dream sequences, especially at the end of the movie and the "snakeman" freaked me out so bad.

Im a big fan of horrors and love the classics such as Freddy, Jason and Halloween.

So I've never been able to understand just how Jeepers Creepers fookin sh**s me up!!

I totally had a nightmare he was tracking me down by smelling my organs :/

I actually think the first Jeepers Creepers is a little bit underrated. It has a stupid name and it looks like it'd be your typical lame Hollywood horror film but it's actually fairly creepy and entertaining. I was genuinely surprised when I first watched it.

Just remembered something.

When I was a kid there was one particular scene in Lord of the Flies where a large rock is pushed off the edge of small cliff and kill's Piggy ... While I never had nightmares about it I can still recall that horrifying image.

Lord of the Flies

On an off topic note: I too have seen Dreamscape. That's a great movie
... Same with Rosemary's Baby! Classics

I don't know. Jackie Chan scare me.

Surprised he hasn't killed himself with half the stunts he does. Specially sliding from a building.

My scary movie is totally lame! I am probably one of the more sensitive souls and so the original "Planet of the Apes" did me in! I was a tiny thing and I am not even sure how I got to see the movie but I think my parents wanted some privacy and gave each of us a quarter to go see a movie.

For eternity it seemed I would see apes staring through the windows at night and from any opened closet. Getting out of bed while it was dark was completely forbidden because of those apes or anything else was under the bed! Later I did get to see Return to the Planet of the Apes and those skinless humans in the subways did me over for good! I was sickened by them.

After that I refused to see any scary movies. I have never seen Halloween or Nightmare on Elm Street. I refuse to see anything gory! Most of the movies mentioned I have never heard of, but I do not watch TV and any DVDs are limited to a more peaceful upbeat subject matter.

I admit the Planet of the Apes is pretty cheesy to watch now, but back then I was horrified.

I do not have typical nightmares as an adult, but I do find myself trying to escape situations and in the dream it is like my legs won't move faster than what ever it is that is chasing me; I am certain I either wake up or the thing chasing me also has lead legs! I can't remember ever getting caught in my dream but I have died in my dreams several times.

I will admit that I have seen "Kill Bill" series and I found it to be quite interesting! The gore was so over-the-top that my mind was able to cope with it; especially the woman getting her arms and legs removed! The spray-off was just too unbelievable, but that Chinese school girl character was creepy as all get out!

I was 5 when Jaws came out and I think it traumatized me for life.
Even now I can't go into the ocean more than knee deep and almost have a panic attack when my kids go further out. I love to look at it, just don't ask me to go in it.

I still remember my mother piling us all in the car and taking us to the drive-in to see it. I even remember there was a Sylvester Stallone (pre-Rocky) movie playing, too.

Oh, and the original Omen movie--can't watch that either. That kid was just way too creepy, and the kid who played Tom Riddle in HP and the Half Blood Prince looks just like him.

I love question threads. It really gives a chance for us to learn even just a little about the other posters and see what makes us all different and how we react to everything. For example another poster mentioned Martyrs which I had to watch five times before I actually stayed awake for the whole thing and the super lame ending. Someone else mentioned Human Centipede which I thought was the comedy of the year in 2010. Me personally I am kept awake at night by this

Seriously though considering the fact that we are headed for doom and the world is far beyond salvaging I'd have to in all honesty say..................

P.S has anyone here seen A Serbian Film? Id put a trailer up here but I don't want to get in trouble. Seriously go check it out its just wrong on a billion levels.

I have never been disturbed by movies before until the other night when I watched The Fourth Kind. I had uncontrollable bouts of shivering and the feeling of sheer terror during some the scenes was indescribable. As a pool playing, bodybuilding 40 year old skinhead male, I am not ashamed to admit that I even screamed like a little girl.

I don't believe in all the abductee stories, but this movie has actually caused me to question my particular version of reality.

I know this is lame but mine was "Pumpkin Head." I saw it when I was maybe 15 at my aunt's house and then I had to walk back to my house at like 3 in the morning, with no flashlight, and I lived way in the country. I had to walk under a bunch of low hanging trees and I kepy remembering how Pumpkin Head was in the trees and grabbed people by the head when they walked under them. I ended up RUNNING home! Now days when I see it I think its funny but when I was a kid it was the worst thing ever!

After returning here to enjoy everyones posts I recalled another favorite from years ago. Powerful in the day, it may be more tame to folks now but I guarantee this movie will haunt you. Disturbing to say the least, full of atmosphere, and unusual. Kind of like watching The Waltons on acid, this film is set in a rural town atmosphere back in the day.

"The Other" focuses on two young brothers who are classic good twin/bad twin. One is learning to harness his mental power aided by his Grandmother.

Here is a link to a good descriptive but "spoiler alert" applies. I recommend just finding a copy and viewing on a cold and rainy night in the dark. heheheh.

I have enjoyed reading this thread

I am a big horror fan and thanks to you guys I also have a few more to add on my 'to watch' list!

Well, I have seen loads of horror movies and cannot think of one that has given me nightmares. There are a few I can think of that freaked my out somewhat when I was a child. Pet Semetary was one of them, I didn't like the look of Pascow or the woman's sister and the other was The Exorcist I saw the uncut one when I was about 12 at a friends house and I left the light on that night
. I have watched it a couple of times since and I cannot help but laugh at it.

Love a good Zombie movie also but they are just fun, I want to find a really scary movie that will leave me terrified and give me nightmares and have me sleeping with the lights on!

The movie that still gives me the night sweats is "The Tigger movie"
I know, you are probably laughing at me , but something about Tiggers energy and facial expressions keep me up at night
