I don't visit this website as much as I once did. I try to use other conspiracy forums when possible, but this website has all the users, and getting my posts seen is important to me. Besides, it's not all that often I need to post something ATS will remove or censor. So I'm all good, as long as I can weed through a sea of disinfo.

I watch the news FOX MSNBC CNN to know what TPTB are "projecting" to the masses even though I believe that I very am capable of seeing through the majority of their illusions so I see no logical reason why anyone would deny themselves any/all sources of information regardless if they perceive it to be truthful or not, ran by a trustworthy staff or not etc etc.

I am not a genius... or am I?

Thus you should also have been able to come to the same above conclusion yet you chose a different path, a path that asks an absurd question especially in the light of my above reply.

I like to see what TPTB are projecting to the masses, even those who think they are ABOVE or BELOW the normal projections...

None of it has to be true or even close to the truth for me to be able to discern a motive and a method to what seems like madness to the otherwise ignorant masses.

Okay all. What I'm about to say here may garner a LOT of blowback, but I want, no I NEED, to make my opinions on this clear.

As a Moderator here, I can personally attest to the way we do things. I've always advocated for us, as a staff, being as transparent as we can be when doing what it is we do. For those that I've dealt with, they can also personally attest to how open I am with them about what I'm doing and what's happening. Everything we do is discussed between staff before action is taken, barring the obvious (porn, excessive swearing, etc etc..). We must have a consensus of Staff in agreement before any action is taken.

I say all of this to preface a question. I, being a Freemason, have been a Moderator here longer than I've been a Freemason, and have moderated no differently since becoming one. Some of the responses in this thread have me wondering. What has Freemasonry ever done to anyone to merit such vile hatred?

Everyone talks about how bad we as Freemasons are, and how we are oppressing people. What we do is just the opposite. We encourage ALL people to think for themselves, and to seek out the truth. The truth of the matter is that there is nothing more important to a Freemason than that of making the world a better place. We do this by encouraging people to THINK for themselves, Freemason or not. We want ALL people to be free thinking.

It's funny actually because being here on ATS helped in my decision to become a Freemason. It seems to me that most of the hatred here stems from what some people have been told by others, whether through a thread here, a book, or a TV show. No one seems to be willing to seek out the answers to the questions they have on their own. They'd rather be lazy and have someone else do all of the footwork for them. Well, the fact is that when there's a question to be answered, it's going to take work to find it out. If the person asking said question doesn't have the stones to go seek out the answer, then they should live with the question until it bugs them enough to go seek it out. I've often found that, when presented with a mystery, the quest for the answer yields more rewards than the final conclusion/answer itself. It's actually one of the best parts of seeking out answers, if you ask me.

So again I ask, what has the fraternity done to deserve the kinds of vile treatment that it has received here in this thread and elsewhere on the boards? Why is it that, when people learn that the Freemasons are involved in anything, they immediately rush to the notion that it can't be any good?

Personally, I think it comes from the idea that everyone has to believe that there is a boogeyman out there somewhere looking to do them ill will. For some, apparently the Freemasons are that boogeyman. If that be the case, then I'll just have to live a better life, so as to prove to those people that we're not what they think.

In all reality, I should be thanking everyone for all of the negative attention, as it's great to have people watching us so closely, scrutinizing everything we do. It makes it easier for us to show everyone what we actually DO!

So, what does all of this have to do with this thread you ask? I felt the need to stress the point that Freemasons don't "control" anything here. Everything we do here is done by consensus, and most of that consensus is made by non-masons. Also, I felt the need to try to explain the position from where I sit on this. I hope I was clear enough. If not, I apologize.

I'll leave here with one final thought... Have questions? One answer:

Are there Freemasons who are fundamentally evil? Sure. Have more than one Freemason joined together to do things that defy ethical sensibilities? Sure.

But the same can be said for college fraternities, Knights of Columbus, and just about any large group. Just as the majority in such groups never go there.

My uncle was relatively high in the "Scottish Rite," being the first-born son of a first-born son of a first-born son back to someone important in our family history... which goes back to association with Robert the Bruce. But, it was for little more than dressing in kilts, playing bagpipes (he was really good), eating hagus, and dusting off some giant claymore family heirloom. He had a crap job and retired with little hope of comfort, not what you'd expect of someone of note in the Scottish Rite.

But, the question that should be asked is, did he LOVE what he did? Was he very involved on a serious level? I would venture to say that he was, and I imagine that he did a great many things for people that no one will ever know of, aside from those that he helped, if he even told them.

Oh, and I absolutely love the Bagpipes!! Got any recordings of him?

If I may be forgiven for indulging in a bit of ATS autobiography myself, I can definitely say my view of ATS has changed a lot over the years.

For quite a long time before I became a member, I resisted registering because I was worried my personal information might be misused or that ATS was, in fact, some sort of government front out to gather data on "dissidents". So for anyone out there who wonders about that, please know that I used to have the same suspicions.

Eventually, lurking became unsatisfying, and the urge to post overcame my reluctance to trust this strange site with my email and IP addresses. Now, just under seven years and over seventeen thousand posts later, I'm still here (lucky you), and you can reasonably surmise from that fact that I have successfully overcome my concerns.

Yet even now, after five years on the staff and the self-assurance that I would have noticed something by now, there's a part of me (I am a devout skeptic, after all) that always leaves open the possibility that somewhere, behind the scenes, some mysterious Hidden Hand guides all. I mean hey, you never know, right? But the problem is, if that were true, there is no practical effect that I know of.

Nobody on the staff has ever told me what to post, every moderator gets to see what other mods are up to, every staff action is logged, we all monitor the Complaints forum and constantly consult each other about what action to take or whether an action was justified. Although all that goes on "behind the curtain", what actually happens back there is so open to everyone involved that I just can't see how anyone could be pulling strings.

Which is sort of ironic, because when I first became a mod, I thought "Oh boy! Now I get to see all the dirty details, where all the bodies are buried!" Well, we aren't allowed to talk about what goes on in Cosmic (our secret forums), but let's just say the reality is a lot less glamorous than the fantasy.

What actually goes on is that we talk about moderating (surprise!), problems with the board, problems with some members, issues related thereto and a lot of jokes to blow off steam. No Machiavellian schemes, no trying to trick people into being obedient government slaves or dancing in worship of horned gods beneath the silvery moon. Just mod talk. A lot of mod talk.

What's more, what the Amigos say behind the scenes is basically what they say in public. There's no duplicity there. They are, to a man, straight shooters. Indeed, I've learned a hell of a lot from their examples and consider myself a better person for it. I'm confident that if you knew them the way I do, you would wholeheartedly agree.

So does that mean I think ATSers should blindly trust us? Nope, not at all. While I don't think the cloud of suspicion surround ATS is warranted by the facts, and have no truck with those who deliberately spread lies about us, I firmly believe healthy skepticism is a valuable asset here just as anywhere else, and encourage anyone reading this to always be skeptical and avoid the false trap of certainty.

It's okay to question us, okay to be suspicious of us and okay to challenge us when something seems wrong. But please don't lie about us, be rude or hassle us because of bogus rumors, flights of fancy or Psychological Projection gone wild.

After all, mods or not, we're ATSers too, and deserve as much as anyone else to be here and share our opinions with you, right, wrong or in the surprisingly wide gray area in between.

Anything less wouldn't be ATS.

My initial post used a popularized (sort of) American spelling, it's haggis.

It's a horrific-sounding dish of sheep "inards" (minced lungs, heart, liver) with aromatics (onions and peppers, if you're creative some fresh garlic and shallots) in a lamb stock that includes the darkest beer you can find... all stuffed into a cow or sheep's stomach, and simmered to perfection. Ideally served with neeps and tatters (sweet sautéed turnips and rough-mashed potatoes).

While it sounds horrible, when done correct (especially with garlic), it's amazing... in fact, it's damn near the most ideal "meat pudding" you can imagine.

The barbaric Scots of long ago had to make due with what was available, and Haggis was traditionally something that either pissed off the troops so they could hack the British with anger (if you can't find onions, it's gross), or a celebration dish (what they saved the onions for) when you've survived the slaughtering of scores of British. Take your pick.

The best way to start your Haggis journey is to find a local Scottish festival and stop by. There will always be at least one "Scottish Meat Pie" vendor who's using real Haggis. Grab one of those, a little HP sauce, and (hopefully) a Belhaven St. Andrews ale and you will find a brief moment of highland heaven.

you have to understand it from skeptic overlords' point of view though, he works this site to inform others and expose the truth, and expose the disinfo agents, so to assert that Him or His Site isa disinfo or inside job, man that would make even ME furious! i think i really hit home with this topic because it's basically like calling 'the good guys' and saying you think they might be 'the bad guys'

Just try talking about FEMINISM. A certain MOD here closes down everything I say about feminism. Apparantly, the government isn't the only ones "protecting" the woman's right to crush all men and make them obselete. just try talkig about it in a negative light and see how fast your post gets removed. I have had at least 20 threads removed that discussed feminism from a man's point of view. Associated with the post or not...the thread get's removed. I know I have tried both...talking about it in threads not associated with the topic......ok, I understand, it gets removed. So I talk about it, in an associated thread...it gets removed...whats going on? I even CREAT the thread and discuss it.....it get's removed. In one week I had something like 5 posts removed on feminism which IS A CONSPIRACY AGAINST MEN. I wish ATS would monitor their MODS a little closer,........there is at least ONE on herre that is suppressing free speech, at least for me. This MOD may not like what I say about feminists, but that's what free speech is all about right? Saying what you want regardless of who likes it...as long as it is within a boundary of non-threatening context? Not here man, speak of Feminism....YOU GET SHUT DOWN! It's not trolling if it's true and you're just frustrated because a certain MOD keeps removing your content, thus, controlling your right to free speech. I have saved most of my posts that have been removed. I started saving them so I could see just how many he would take off of the site. I have quite a few saved in my folder.

I must say i read all that and i just wanna say that it's good to hear from one of the site owners who is just a regular joe like a majority of people on this very good site.
I may not agree with some threads and i often try to voice logical, common sense thoughts to the debates and i love being able to debate topics with others and try to see their points of view.
To the site owners i want to say thank you for creating a great website like ATS and just keep the good stuff coming

You are not searching very hard.

My 2005 thread titled Could ATS be secretly run by the NWO? was never closed. Does this mean I used a time machine to go plant disinfo 6 years ago? Possible.

I bet that now that I linked it, there is a chance that some ill spirited person will try to get it closed.
