Im not a homophobe, i have a lot of gay friends.

Its just a serious question. kinda.

On Socrates: It is indeed tricky to talk in terms of modern terms like "gay" about the ancient world, because the notion of being gay was also a political concept in opposition to discrimination. That discrimination based on sexuality did not exist in the ancient world, and the expectations were very different.
However all the writing we have on him by his students and contemporaries suggests he was attracted to the same sex. His main attraction seems to have been to male adolescents (pederasty), however, he elevated his "Socratic love" to spiritual levels, and doesn't seem to have physically partaken in the dominant sexual practices.
It is likely that one of his lovers was the Athenian general Alcibiades.
It would be quite a stretch to argue that he was straight in out modern understanding.

On reproduction: I don't think we'll ever reach a point where the majority of people are exclusively gay.
That fear seems to be based on the idea that everybody is latently gay, and when confronted with gay visibility they will all turn gay.
In the past (and still in many traditional societies) marriages were arranged, and men could pretty much discretely do what they liked once they had fathered children. Some gay men have children because of social pressures, while others choose to have children and found families.
In fact, with legal equality and social acceptance more gay people will found families and raise children.
On the other hand, many straight people are having fewer children and later in life, especially since women have more options and education.
I know gay people with kids, and straight people who choose to have none.
Some gays adopt children (and we sadly have lots of unwanted children and Aids orphans in SA), while others presumably got them naturally. There are options these days, and having a gay orientation is not going to stop anyone from having children if they really want them.
So we're never going to have a situation where everybody stops having children because of homosexuality, just like not everybody is going to become a celibate monk or nun.
Homosexuality is a natural variation in sexuality, but it will never become dominant on the basis of gay rights and visibility.
What I find really sad is a straight couple who wants to have more children, but they simply cannot afford them, while others couldn't care less about having them with multiple partners and continuing the cycle of poverty.

I wish so called Christians would open their minds. Jesus affirmed a gay couple in Matthew 8:5-13 and Luke 7:1-10. So it seems the J-Man was cool with gay couples.

The Greek word that the Roman centurion uses in this passage to describe the sick man – pais – is the same word used in ancient Greek to refer to a same-gender partner.

Source: Would Jesus Discriminate

The passage in case you don't remember (in English because I don't read Greek and didn't want to dig around for the Greek text when others have already analyzed it)

Matthew 8:5-13

King James Version (KJV)

5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him,

6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented.

7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him.

8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.

9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

you say it is, others will say it's not.

who knows.

Bible and the other Holy Books are sure not a valuable proof of anything.

That we can 100% agree on.

Now if we could just convince others.

These threads are great to watch the homophobes and the Jesus-grovelers operate

With the men's, Guns n Roses, Britney spears and dancing to the stars made worse.
Then my tv broke and I got better, the pink panties and boyfriends no more.

Feeling excited, leave the wife and stop liking the woman's! You can stop liking the
Men, no more of tv ! No more secks ok???

How could this be a serious question if there are no circumstances of any species ever becoming exclusively homosexual? This question is about as serious as "what if everyone was Superman?"

Furthermore, how could any forces within society change your natural sexual orientation from a heterosexual into a homosexual? What mechanism would render all people homosexual?

of course you will not become homosexual just like that, from watching TV or something but nobody can tell me that the extensive pro Gay propaganda (among others kinds of propaganda) will not influence the mind of a child still shaping...

Nobody can tell you?

Anyway, that "pro-gay propaganda" might have an effect after all. It make actually teach children that gay people are real human beings just like they are, and don't deserve to be discriminated against simply because some people and their gods don't like what the homosexuals do with their peepees.

that is what parents should do, not the TV.

you know, parents raise the children and they should teach them about the life and the right things in life, respect for all.

the problem is today on the TV and elsewhere you can only see sex, violence and materialism.

pro gay propaganda is just a part of it.

you've been blind.

I guess so. I don't see that pro gay propaganda is part of sex, violence and materialism - the only things to see on TV and elsewhere according to you.

It seems to me that what's really going on is that a lot of parents simply don't want anyone to interfere with their "right" to inculcate their children with the same anti-gay bigotry they were brought up with.

Anyway, until someone presents some evidence that something on TV can magically turn people gay I'm going to have to dismiss such a notion as being ridiculous.

Pro gay propaganda?

Personally I think its about Damn time.

And don't use children as an excuse for your own difficulties in accepting people that are born different.

why do you think I have difficulties in accepting different people?

I don't have.

I have difficulties accepting shameless promotion of one (wrong) way of life (complete materialism) which "gay rights" is just a part of.

It is out in the open and you will see it, realize it sooner or later.

Surely it's the "straight" agenda that has been on the rise. Look at the sexualisation of our children, Padded bra's for pre teens, tops with "future porn star" for young girls, the first introduction for most kids to sex will now be the unrealistic world of internet porn. Hetrosexual sex is everywhere. Look at those video's on MTV or the Concerts of some of the pop stars, basically soft porn for the masses.

Anyone who uses the term "Gay agenda" probably has some issues with their own sexual identity. If you are straight and happy with that, why in the world would you care what other people do in their bedroom?

India is becoming more wealthy, with more wealth there will be more freedom, with more freedom, more homosexuals will feel free to come out.

To do what? A gay man can not influence the mind of a child to be gay. He may make the mind of the child more accepting of different sexualities, which in turn may make the child more accepting of others which would be a good thing.

This Tuesday the Indian Health Minister claimed he was misquoted, and clarified that what he said (or meant to say) was that HIV was a foreign disease: www.nytimes.com...

As in SA, some of these ministers in post-colonial countries are sometimes appointed due to personal or party loyalties, and are not the most qualified or brightest of people.
They may also test the political waters with certain remarks, or send out divergent populist signals simultaneously, and backtrack when they get it wrong.
