Indian health minister statements caused loud reactions from Indian gay rights groups and the other activists who said these kind of statements return India to the past. Activists say that the homophobic comments do not help their country in the fight against AIDS. 2 and a half million of Indians are infected with HIV, that is the biggest HIV positive population in the Asia. Opinion that homosexuality is a disease imported from the West is very common in conservative India and I don’t know why this statement comes as a big surprise.

it is basically pointless and a waste of life to be gay, so I just dont understand why they do it.

This is so silly and people who don't understand homosexuality are hilarious.

It's ALWAYS been here. There have been homosexual people since the beginning of time. But they were outcasts and they knew it. They hid, lied to themselves and others to cover their secret (made taboo by the puritans among them). Today, they are coming out. They are tired of hiding and faking. All over the world, homosexual people are staking their claim to this life, which they deserve just as much as the rest of us.

It SEEMS like there are more gay people today because they are not hiding any longer to please you. They are not keeping themselves hidden away in a dark, quiet place so people won't laugh at them, ridicule, hurt and kill them. They are taking a stand for their place in the world. Claiming it. And I support them 100%.

It may look like the gay population is growing or that there's a 'movement' of some kind, but it's just their refusal to fake it that you're seeing.

What you're seeing is a continuation of the mantra: We're here. We're queer. Get used to it! Or don't get used to it. But it's happening whether you get used to it or not.

The same comments may more reasonably be made of ignorance, but at least that entails a choice.

if your comftable with your sexuality there why give a toss what others are doing

I'm not trying to troll or derail thread but when I read the title I momentarily pictured a Chato (Charles Bronson) and a Toriano (Jack Palance) like Apache warrior characters riding bareback together. Are you serious about these ridiculous statements? "Coming out"? Or being manipulated to think they're "gay"? How much does television affect the mind of a child? Or, does it have absolutely NO effect? I mean, we all know what it does to adults, how it brainwashes...so...what does it do to children?

If a child is glued in front of the TV; being bombarded with these, in your face, gay acts...can the child just brush them off and "forget" about them? How much does that play on that young brain's psyche?

Here's the BIGGEST problem i have with the 'gay' community.....THEY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR PEOPLE THAT AREN'T GAY. They feel, as though, EVERYONE should be gay. They feel it's ok to VIOLATE your space!

I'm a straight man, but MANY of my friends are "gay" (which is a play on words) and what i hate most...is they feel they have the RIGHT to put their arms around my shoulders, as we conversate. It makes me VERY uncomfortable! I guess they feel that...we're "homies" so...it's ok to do such things. These are not isolated events...they're CONSTANT. And it doesnt matter where they come from.....THEY'RE ALL THE SAME!

What makes it even worse is the fact that if you speak out, they scream...'HOMOPHOBIC'. But, how would the ladies like it....if i wrapped my arms around their shoulders, as we talked? How would that make you feel....ladies...if i was drapped all over you...without your consent???

And you know what....homosexuality...or, as it's really called..."SODOMY" should be shameful, just like LYING, CHEATING, STEALING, SLEEPING AROUND, etc, etc... It's not something that should be celebrated...and given permission to do...it's something that needs to be dealt with; just like "men" that have upteen babies by upteen women. SIN IS SIN!

In the beginning, God made them MALE AND FEMALE! IF God wanted to...HE would have made it POSSIBLE for men to have children, without the help of WOMAN. What i have seen, over the past 20 years, is a rise in single moms...and gay people. When i was in high school...there were hardly any "gays"...and if there were, NO ONE knew. Not because they were 'in the closet' but because they didnt PRANCE AROUND...like little girls. IF someone in school was 'gay'...it didn't show. Now-a-days...it seems like EVERY guy has that 'sweetness' about him....especially the younger generation. These boys have a STRONG girlie side to them...and i'm CERTAIN...they weren't born that way! How do i know? 20 years of observation. Anyone that grew up in the 80's can look at their yearbook, and see how many guys were 'gay' or even acted 'gay' or how many girls were lesbian. I can only recall 1 maybe 2...and that's MAYBE.

I was also raised by a single mom...which was a rarity....back in the 80's and now...it's all too common. Look how many single moms there are these days. Look at how long marriages last, these days. Look at the lack of commitment people have, these days. Look at how many CHILDREN are pushing strollers to high school.

The real problem is.....Generation X....is allowing way too much to be passed off as "Good for Society"; when in fact, our parents raised us better; and it our SIN is not "Good for Society"...it's DESTRUCTIVE!

We ALL should be ashamed of ourselves....especially the 50 and younger crowd; whether you be straight, gay, or in between.

And please, get out of the game of 'deny ignorance' when you're still plugged up into the matrix....aka...television. How can you say, 'deny ignorance' while watching the most ignorant form of entertainment ever created? Give it up already! You sound like a brainwashed NWO puppet!

How about people go about their own bussiness. Don't like the "gay" tv - don't watch it. Don't want your kid to watch "gay" tv - start bringing up your kid by yourself.

But people - please grow up. Everything that exists now exists because there is a potential for it. And the potential exists because the universe is a complex system. And our little human universe gets more complex each moment. Thus more potential for different things arise.

Gays have been treated with disrespect in the christian tradition for so long - it's only natural it unfolds this way. Karma people. Action-reaction. It just takes time. You cannot escape your actions and we as humans cannot escape the sins of our fathers.

If we continue to treat people as our progenitors did - we will make the future harder for future generations.
