I was startin to get angry, but also not surprised at the actions either, until I also looked at the source and the story is just under 3 years old...

Maybe its just on the back burner, just waiting for "a catalyzing event, like a new 9/11"... hmm where have I heard a similiar line

Wanna bet?

The dumbed down Kool-Aid drinkers are allowing strangers to fondle their junk. But I guess that's nothing compared to a dog collar.

sign me speechless.

That's not a bad idea. The solution to dealing with these hassles of flying is to, not fly...

Not flying doesn't change the fact that an idiot somewhere wants to make the flights "safer" though.

This excuse for them being needed was pretty weak, too.

Because there simply aren't enough air marshals to defend every flight, Hahne envisioned a way to empower air crews to better defend their planes.

Why not add more air marshals? Homeland Security budget not big enough?

They could easily have an air marshal on every flight if they wanted to...

Well, this is an incentive not to try hijacking a plane. Not that I agree with it but it is an incentive.

Can we just require these for peoples children when they are out in public places such as the mall, the bank, or even the grocery store?

I mean if they are being considered for use pon me, I know of some actual uses that will benefit everyone.

Good idea! Start with the fugly and smelly people who dress funny. No bracelets for grannies, babies and beautiful models.

As mortifying as this idea is and everything, are there are any other sources to confirm it is real possibility?

I'm no fan of the U.S.A., but even I think it will not be as stupid as to even attempt to implement these things. The backlash would be simply astounding, and would probably incite even more terrorist attacks - this time from its own citizens who have simply reached the disillusion with their government, and will begin to fight for their freedom.

I think it glaringly obvious that such a strategy would only weaken the nation from the inside out, if they really are THAT worried about a terrorist attack. Or are they just truly afraid of people have a verbal altercation in public?

Bzzzt Bzzt Would make for a very interesting plane ride.

One should realize that three years ago Homeland Security had solicited a proposal to develop and manufacture a stun bracelet. Three years actually isn't a very long time to complete the contracted bracelets. It is also note worthy to mention that it was seen as a potential for detainee control, prisoner transportation. military security forces in addition to air travel. Sounds to me they actually intend to use these for almost everything. There was also a concept for belts to be worn with the ability to disable by electric shock. These things are going to be much stronger than stun guns. due to the ability to over ride the nervous system on a continuous basis. I have a feeling our hell hasn't started yet.

Disregarding the fact that this article is outdated and the idea outrageously idiotic and unacceptable.

What concerns me here is that US taxpayer money is being spent on these outrageously idiotic ideas.
Do US citizens realize that their own money is being spent on programs that are basically meant to enslave them?

Just say these collars came in & we all had to wear them:

Terrorists would find another way to cause disruption because they wouldn't try planes because they'd know they would just get shocked if they tried anything.

what would happen if all the collars went off on innocent passengers through some kind of computer failure ? would we all die from continuel prolonged shock ?.

i'm all for new idea's to protect but sometimes these people should get in the real world & realise we're not cattle, animals & have brains.

I don't know why anybody is even debating this...

We all know that Firstly Americans, then some other nations will not do a damn thing beside
bend over and unclench before sticking out a paw and donning the bracelet.

Although, if they got it made by say Bulgari or Versace I could see women loving it!! And men using it as a double surprise for their girlfriends, wives...a trip abroad a lovely bracelet!!

There's no way this is real, nobody could possibly think these are a good idea. How does having the ability to shock everybody on the plane "enhance the security of air travel and help manage illegal immigration"? Especially that last part, forcing people to wear shock-bracelets on airplanes helps to manage illegal immigration? That will in no way help to manage immigration, can illegal immigrants just hop on planes? Will they shock the mexicans on the plane and check their passports?

There is no dang way they coud possibly make people wear a shock collar legally. This post is insane, i really cant see even them looking into doing this.
