lmao so because somebody copied and posted this guys message on another forum that automatically means the original message is somehow disingenuous??? You obviously didnt even click the link as the blogger clearly states that it was TAKEN from ATS. Which means it was posted here first.

This was all a successful trolling. The tossing of a match on some extremely flammable subjects. The opening story about Universal Studios made me think it was a joke from the start. And comparing christian extremists (a guy who burns a book) to islamist extremists is just laughable. How did anyone take this guy seriously?

Yep. And I got a 'warning' on page one for supposed 'hate speech'. All I did was turn the guys' questions around and ask him the same damn thing he 'asked' us (accused us of). It was an introductory post, not something to debunk. Relax, there are plenty of threads to debunk ( Look in the ufos and 9/11 areas).

At the end of the day it doesn't matter how genuine the actual poster was, I think most people responded to the gist of the message which was..

To the poster who said the ME was a hell hole where no American is safe: I have travelled extensively in the Middle East ( as a white woman) and have never felt in danger. I felt safer walking down the streets of Damascus then the streets of London and LA.

One day I was walking down a market in Cairo ( not the tourist market) when a man made some rude gestures at me. Several people immediately leapt into action, berating and chasing off the offender and then inviting me for tea and making sure I was alright. Recently, on a trip in London, on a cold Saturday night, I was hassled on the tube, some young punk, making lewd remarks and saying he was going to "**** me" whether I liked it or not...The tube was full of people, not one single person stood up to him or tried to help me in anyway. They all looked away...and pretended not see what was happening.

I am planning a trip to Iran next summer and suspect that I will find a most hospitable people, as is common in the ME region in my experiences.

And that means....what, exactly? A trip to most countries will find " a most hospitable people", and the US leads in that category.

The common people are not the problem, not in Iran, not in most countries, esp. the US.

Their goverment hangs homosexuals from lightposts in the middle of the city, and sponsors several terrorist groups. This guy seems to think his gov is superior to us. If you buy that, good luck. I never understood how someone could defend that anyway.

Had you been raped in the UK, the rapist would be arrested and prosecuted. Had you been raped in many ME countries, you would have been accused of adultery and required to produce several male witnesses on your own behalf.

The fact of the matter is OP has some valid points but when Islam tells him to raise his sword in Jihad aginst us infidels I am sure he will do the bidding of his god Allah and more than likely with a zeal.

Wow. I understand what you're saying completely. In turn I hope you and other Muslims don't judge all white people by the majority of ignorance in this thread. In my opinion, people who stereotype for better or for worse are jus as bad as ignorant masses who turn a blind a eye.

Sure, I have nice things. But I work hard for them. People in other countries could easily accomplish what the US has in a relatively small period of time, but first you would have to change your whole outlook on what is important.

Believe it or not, even so called rich countries with material wealth can have people suffering just as third world countries do.

I feel anyone could construct such personal story to gain sympathy.

Are people starring this because the OP is against ignorance, prejudice and hatred? What's his point? Is this being directed at Americans or the whole world? Most people are against those concepts on ATS....

I didn't read that he thought his government was superior then ours, but maybe that is just my interpretation.

look I'm not saying that things are perfect in the ME, or Iran..anywhere really. What I am saying is that, universally, people just want to be happy and live a life filled with good things. The bad people, in any country are not the majority.

Furthermore, as we are witnessing first hand, the people in a lot of these countries are getting sick and tried of their religion, their culture being hijacked by the elites in their countries for what are selfish, and downright evil gains.

This isn't about how Islam is bad, every religion is based on fear and hate and obeying some higher power in order to make it to some mythical promised land. I can sit here all day and link examples of many different religions in many different countries doing bad stuff, and then, using their various holy books to justify it.

Iran is a beautiful country, sadly ruled by greedy men. Kind of like America and the UK.
