That is exactly why I can complain about the Nanny state. I am reasonably sure that what I have done to help a person in need far exceeds anything you have. Your assumption that people opposed to the Government handouts has any correlation to their charity is way off base. You don't know me.

Families, friends and communities come together to help someone in need. They do it of their own free will. It is human nature.

What seem to you not understand is that forcing people to contribute to a Government program is not charity, it's robbery.

The simple concept is taking personal responsibility for oneself and their offspring.

What is more complex is that the Government is broke, It can not continue to give out to all the people who think their bad decisions are somehow everyone problems and that they are entitled to a handout funded by others by force. I find it especially ridiculous to fund illegals. All of the Government spending has to be cut drastically now.

What of value did you add? You called me a materialist for wanting to help those in need, strangely enough, then said you want to cut spending. I agreed with you that spending needs to be cut, but not at the expense of feeding disadvantaged children and that the Pentagon didn't need another 17 billion. Then I was called a bleeding heart and simply pointed out that I at least care for children. How this all denigrated into what it did is why this country is in trouble...we both can't do anything about it, yet we're acting like asses because of it. You will pay your taxes and money will go to things we don't like. I'll get up tomorrow and play with my kids and enjoy life regardless.

Therefore if the government decides to use tax money sometimes to aid its citizens when the society’s institutions fail them, then that is in the interest of all.

you obviously do not have a clue what WIC is. this thread is about WIC which is not regular "welfare". it is a SUPPLEMENTAL program which gives families LESS THAN $100 in vouchers. NOT CASH. and some people DO work like everyone else and also receive WIC. so what ELSE should they do?
