shouldn't be up to the parents at all, it's like bringing your kids to church to indoctrinate them from an early age only to find that the kid has no interest in the fear based mind control church...

If someone anaesthetises a non-consenting adult and chops off his foreskin, would that adult be entitled to press charges against his attacker ?

If you agree that it's a crime to forcibly remove an adult's foreskin, then why the blazes would you condone this same crime when it's carried out upon a young child ?!

The whole pro-circumcision argument is as illogical as it's morally reprehensible.

You kinda made me wish my penis wasn't mutilated...

If a grown man wants to mutilate his penis for religous or esthetic reasons, let him, his problem. But forrcing this mutilation onto a defencless child with no pain releif is criminal.

There is no medical reason to do it.

Circumcision has no health benefits what so ever. It does not prevent cancer and it does not prevent STDs of any kind. If you teach your child to clean himself then there will be no smegma. How can all these people that are circumcised assume that it's "not that bad"? You've never felt what it's like to have foreskin so it's ridiculous to spew your opinion.

Male circumcision is exactly equal to the female version as both are a form of mutilation regardless of the severity..

And as for the aesthetics of circumcised vs uncircumcised when uncircumcised males are erect it looks exactly like a circumcised one. Who cares what it looks like in it's flaccid state?

The only reason this ritualistic mutilation is allowed in the US is because it's protected by Judaism. I bet if Christianity demanded the mutilation of female genitalia it would be tolerated as well.

Male circumcision has dropped 40% in the US since the 80s and will eventually be phased out.

Circumcision is archaic and cruel.

I worked in a nursery for 4 years and saw/heard many circumcisions. It is a barbaric practice. Almost no babies excaped the procedure. In 4 years and hundreds of babies I only saw two leave the nursery uncut. (They were to small to cut safely) At least the Jews have a "religous" reason for the procedure. One of our Jewish pediatricians said that really according to the faith does not have to be a complete removal of the foreskin it can be nothing but a symbolic little cut to draw blood and that will suffice. All the babies I saw had the foreskin competely removed. The majority of the patients were christian types and all requested the procedure for "cosmetic" reasons. I can't think of any other cosmetic surgery that would be done to a baby at birth. It is not right. The old fashioned idea that they don't feel it becuase they are babies is crap. They are strapped down and scream like they are dying. It is a special high pitched scream that I could always recognize from far down the hall. It is very different from the normal hungry/cranky scream. The doctors are supposed to numb them but it never works right. I would always invite the dads down to the nursery when their sons were being circumcised. No one ever took me up on the offer. Cowards

I sense a bit (lot) of biased expression in your comment.

I'm not religious, nor were my parents. My parents chose to have me cut as is i did when my son was born. I also watched our pediatrician snip him and he slept through it. He didnt bat a freaking eye so to say that it's a torturous act is a little bit overboard.

I also want to ad that although i do not know if the foreskin is more sensitive, I certainly have NO ISSUES with sensitivity myself.

How would you know if you have no issues with sensitivity if you've never had a foreskin?
And as far as pain is concerned read some articles from this website and try to tell me that no babies feel pain while being mutilated.

While I am cut and have no problem with it, I think that some of the issue is really about parents having issues interacting with their childrens genitals. Till a child is old enough to clean up after themselves, someone else has to do it and the nature of cleaning that area as would be required might make some people uncomfortable. I'm not saying its right, I'm just thowing that out there. On a side note though I do agree that it should be the mans choice to have it done, it should not be in the hands of parents.

I personally wish I would have had a choice. I would like to know what having all of my body would be like. However, my parents made that decision for me and now I have to live with it for my entire life, not them. I will never ever ever make that decision for my own children. They can choose it on their own if they so desire. Saying it's a parents right to choose is like saying it's a parents right to choose if they want to cut off one of their other body parts. If it's not a life threatening situation then it is unnecessary and cruel. They may be the parent but the child is a free human being from birth. This is the 21st century. People still want to use religion as an excuse to cut up their kids. What if someone wanted to use religion as an excuse to beat their kids? Would that be acceptable? I would think not.

Russel Crowe recently landed himself in hot water for labelling Circumcision "barbaric and stupid". It was very sad to see the media turn this into a "is Russel Crowe an anti-Semite?" story. What happened to Freedom of Speech?

Here is the story for this interested:

Exactly. Where on EARTH do you get off comparing this female circumcision?? That is preposterous

Its sad that religion is given any credence in today's world. Its is actually like living
back in 557AD. So primitive.

To me and this is purely my opinion not that of anyone else nor am I speaking for anyone else - the Jewish Religion and Islamic religion are two end of the same evil stick.

They are unfit for purpose and need to be stopped from being allowed to grow any further. This is for the sake of humanity. Religion must be STOPPED at all costs.

Or to reach the Elites 500,000,000 population all religious people should be the ones sacrificed.

My best friend told me once, I wish I was cut. Lots of girls freak when they see it cause they have never seen one before. Some would still let him have intercourse but oral was out of the picture. I am cut I have never had that problem. He said he would get done now but it takes a little while to heal, I think he was just scared. That is how I made the decision to have my son cut.

Plus it reduces the risk of cancer, std transmition, infection and all that. When it is done to women it hurts the woman for the rest of her life. When done to a man he will never know until told there was once extra skin there.

There is no proof of reduced cancer risk ... and with proper protection STDs shouldn't even be a factor. I'm uncircumcised and sex (oral and vaginal) is not a difficult task at all. Just proper cleaning and your son will be able to keep the sensitivity in the head of the penis, without pain at birth.

Like a said it is just as much about looks as anything and the damage is done already anyway. A girl that is O.K or thinks it is mutilation won't hold it against my son she will hold it against me. On the other hand a girl that thinks its gross, well he will still be O.K with her as well. I did him a favor.

You don't know how much sensitivity a cut person looses and I don't know how much an intact person gains. I will never know and I am cool with that.

It isn't that I care that you have foreskin or that I don't. It is just a fact of life.

It isn't like we are having people forced to have their kids done it is a family choice. No matter what your arguement nobody that was forced can tell you how bad it hurt cause they don't remember and they suffer no pain from it now.

As for the cancer part there has never in the history of the penis been a case for penial cancer in a person circumsied before there 8th day of life. "Jews have it done day 7" most others sometime before the mother and baby leave the hospital. That is proof enough for me cause people have been doing it for thousands of years.

I was one of those that freaked out and actually ran away when I first saw one.
I compare it to an animals' penis. I could never be with a man that wasn't circumcised, and no I'm not Jewish. I am completely grossed out by the whole "d#*$ cheese" thing, yuck. Cleaner is ALWAYS better.
As a woman, I thank God for circumcision.

OP, this in no way even compares to female mutilation. I guess you are unaware that when they do that to women, it is to remove all the pleasure from women, ALL FOREVER. You probably don't know this, because most men have no clue what arouses women.
Men on the other hand are still quite capable of experiencing pleasure. Circumcision is not performed on men to control them, it is however done to women for that reason, makes me ill...stupid backwards people.
I can't help thinking that these kinds of threads are created for the sole purpose of spreading propaganda against the Jews and Christians.

I thank my parents silently in my head regularly about not giving me the snip. I have my foreskin and my tonsils and I love being intact. Wouldn't change it for anything. If I had kids they would also remain intact. It's a cultural thing in the US but not so much here in Canada. I believe (although I'm totally going on memory of reading something somehwhere sometime) that the majority of Canadian men are still uncut. We have more of a Europe attitude about it.

Totally agree here, I have all my originals as well.
Things are on your body for a purpose.
Wonder if those who are 'cut' wonder how much better sex is if they were allowed to have what is natural, stay natural.
You can never get un-cut to make a comparison!
