Not to mention almost all males from an elite force such as delta 6 wouldn't even consider a female next to them on a serious combat mission. Id suggest sticking to being spy's and let the boy's play in the sand.

Do you seriously believe that the men of the United States Navy SEALS, one of if not THE most elite fighting unit in the world, is not focused enough on their top-priority missions to be able to operate in the vicinity of an attractive female? If U.S. intelligence needs an enemy taken down inside his compound, but that enemy has an attractive daughter who often hangs around the area where the mission will take place, do they just cancel the entire mission??


SEAL leader: "Sir, we are in position and ready for the operation to take out the evil dictator and save Western civilization. Waiting for your go-ahead, over."

Mission director: "Copy that, SEAL leader. Wait... what's this? Hold on, we've got an incoming report... confirmed! The enemy has an attractive daughter! Repeat, the enemy has an attractive daughter in Drop Zone Four, who may or may not be wearing a revealing shirt!"

SEAL leader: "May god help us..."

Mission director: "Abort the mission! Do you copy, SEAL leader?! Get your horny men out of there! ABORT!"

MISSION: FAILED


Unbelievable. I know the military has more than its fair share of horn-dogs in the sandbox, but this isn't "playing in the sand" we're talking about. Give the men some credit, for crying out loud.

Fine then let me reiterate If a female can pass the exact same selection process for seals then by all means go ahead. I'm sure some would.

Now good luck getting the rest of the career soldiers to appreciate your value.

In your short story you mention the weakness of your male team members, not the female.
Don't you know its a weakness if a man cant function around a female?

If a seal team had to work with a female on their team, i know that they would have done so with 100% dedication and respect. That is why they are seals and your are not. Their adaptation skills are way better then you give them credit for. You are actually insulting the professionalism of the seal team by stating that females would be a failure to have on the team.

There has been some talk here in Australia recently about allowing women to apply for the Special Air Service Regiment, and whether a bill should be passed to allow them to.

My response, to my parents, with my dad being a Vietnam Vet, was hell, let em have a go. If they can be one of the ones that are part of the 6% pass rate, then go right ahead. Would be interesting to see a woman complete a 42 mile pack march in less than 18 hours, after 6 weeks of courses and no sleep.

In the 90s when i competed in the echo challenge events, Australia had some of the most dedicated females i have ever seen apart from the US. In the echo challenge event females also had to complete the 500km endurance race in 7 to 10 days like their male team mates.
We often had to walk in some of the crappiest terrain you can image without any rest for 20 to 30 hours.
The average time spent walking/running without rest in a echo challenge event is about 17 hours non stop.

Each team had to have at least 1 female.

Women should be in the SEALs and deployed when on their period, i bet they will be so mad and frustrated that they will complete a special operation in 10 minutes from the anger

I don't understand why this door is still closed. If a woman can pass the test. She should be allowed in. Period.

The speaker in the article states that they have to be very, very careful about implementing women into the special forces. What is it that you have to be so careful about?

Women may not have the arm strength of men, but they have the leg strength, generally have better aim and targeting skills, and pay more attention to detail and can read social cues. There are many benefts that can outway physical prowess in that setting.

Now I know that special ops is brutal. I know that the testing to be a Navy Seal is obscene. So if a woman wants to try out, and passes, I can't see a reason to not let her participate.

First of all , when that Navy Seal's butt buddy girlfriend gets a bullet in the neck and he is thinking this is bull# i hate you im going to go rambo on you. She just very well could have caused that mission to fail , or same in turn for the guy.

Secondly , men are more physically capable than women.

Thirdly , doesnt matter how smart you think you are , if you are an idiot male or female , you arent going to be a navy seal so that argument is out of the window and neutralized. Also , the argument Females are Smarter than men is actually invalid as the argument for 100 years have been that there is no intellect difference , however recently a study showed that a man's brain is actually 100 grams larger than a females brain. So if you want to be technical...we are smarter.

Fourthly , they have experimented with females in the special forces , and their bodies decayed rapidly physically.

I dont know where you got the Aim and Targeting skills either , because it is trained into you , you can be male or female the more you shoot the better you get. So this is false than any Gender rules this area.

I could say many thing and give many reasons, but for lack of time, I will just say....everything you say is nothing but mere fantasy. Women can't be seals because they are simply not good enough in every way. Leg strength...I have been to the gym 20 years and you couldn't be more wrong. Men consistently squat 500-800 lbs. Never seen a woman without steroids do more than 200lbs. Everything else...is nothing but a Demi Moore/Xena Princess Warrior illusion. This is cute though. Just because YOU say something doesn't make it a statistic. Men are weaker than men and slower and cannot shoot better nor drive better and their menstrual cycles would be a logistical and militaristic nightmare, not to mention, it would take only a trained dog to smell the woman during this cycle (or even off of it) and every sela team has a human GPS everywhere the seal team goes. No warping of the physical requirements and stamina required to do this, this isn't women's sports. That in mind, there is absolutely no legitimate reason for women not to be able to join the Navy. If men are allowed to carry a gun around and travel around the globe to shoot people for corporate interest and collect a paycheck, so should women.

Yes, but they are not special forces like seals. As I recall the Canadian military has been considered a joke for years. Your point? I was being sarcastic up there you know. Women are in the US military as well. They are not special forces as per the topic. Women apparently have a lack of focus too.

They told me that i wasn't this and i wasn't that, i had no chance in hell.

Even after i was half way through (after 10 weeks) they kept on talking like they knew what i was doing and going through.

If a woman could past the test let her do it.. But the % of women who could even pass basic boot camp with Mens STANDARDS would be so low I doubt many women would make it. This is why standards are lowered.

It is true that women cant join because of fitness concerns and it is a genuine concern,but on the other hand 99.9% of all men in america cant join because they are not physicaly fit either ,so dont feel too bad

You kinda missed 2 words when you were reading that didn't yah?

I see alot of things in this thread that are both humorous, and rediculous. There are alot of very relevant posts from both sexes. Yet, there are alot of posts from the guys that are border line 1940's mentallity, and there are alot of posts from the women that are only displaying some of the weaknesses which the guys are pointing out. There are scientific studies to back both ends of the spectrum here in many facets of the arguement.

What is the way to solve this arguement you ask?

Take a large group of women who want to join and try it, and put them to the test. Say... 5 million of them.

Set ALL standards, requirements and practices back to the original way they were intended. Before they were altered to allow a higher percentage of women to pass requirement. (That is not a jab at the girls, because I'm sure those changes are why a higher percentage of guys pass now as well.) There could not be any changes made to facilitate the "This isn't fair because I'm smaller and weaker" clause. Equal is Equal in the eyes of most of the women posting on this thread, so that shouldn't be a problem. Right?

Then, if there are some of those women left standing at the end of the most physically and mentally excruciating training in the world, I say... let them do thier thing in the field.

Will this ever happen in our lifetime though? I doubt it.

Edit to add: By "Will this happen in our lifetime..." I mean the test. Did not mean that no women would be left standing at the end of it. Saw that one coming lol.

Rape isn't about sexuality. It's about power and control. Women know the difference. Not many men do, apparently.

If a woman can pass all the tests she should be able to fulfill any combat role normally given to men. Any woman that enters that role will be mentally prepared for it, knowing full well that if caught she will be treated differently than a man in the same position.

It's ridiculous to think that a woman can't be as strong emotionally or have as much endurance than a man. Women can take pain better than men. They have faster reflexes. Better response times. And they are quicker on snap decisions, especially ones that require one to "man up", so to speak.

Some of you fellas need to get married. You'll find out the day after the wedding what I mean.
