Actually, Camping has never claimed to arrive at his date(s) based upon prophetic gift. So, that rules out being branded a false prophet.

The most you can really state is that he is doing it all wrong.

I am an EMT in NY and thankfully I did not work tonight...

Did work Friday night and the OD's were more abundant then normal in this area. I am already putting in for time off for 12/21/2012!

Not sure if this is the right place or not but here it goes. I am a paramedic in norhtern MN and around here there are lots of religious people. So far tonight I have been on 4 people with massive panic attacks for fear of either dying or not being saved by jesus, 2 overdoses, and 1 suicide. This is very out of the ordinary for us out here we have 8000 people in our town, and average about 2.5 calls a day. People are starting to act real strange out and scared out here. It is criminal i think that this Camping guy can go out and strike fear into people like this. I think this is just the begining of things to come out here and tomorow is going to be even crazier.

As the OP said, I really worry about December 20 and 22nd.
If nothing major happens, I'm afraid our EMTs, hospitals etc. are really gonna have their hands full.
WAY more people believe in something major happening on 12-21-2012 than Camping's stuff.
That's what scared me about people starting up that flying saucers behind comet Elenin story now.
Remember Heaven's Gate?
Anyway I wish the OP the best and good luck out there!

If what you say is true, that is their own doing. This is a land of freedom paid for by the blood of countless lives for our Constitutional Republic. You cannot limit someone's freedom just because you don't agree with what they believe. People chose to listen and believe what it was he has said. I listen to Family Radio some times for the nice hymns and the interesting call in program. But I never for a second believed his teaching on a rapture of May 21, 2011. Only the Father, Son and Holy Spirit know.

To try criminalizing him because people lost their common sense and allowed themselves to be deceived and carried with emotion instead of rationalization is careless, ignorant and placing blame on the wrong person. The only person to blame is each individual that is foolish enough to become hysterical or take their life. It's certainly sad but it's their own fault.

Wow, that is really awful. I think a lot of the psychology of this is that the last 10 years have just been horrendous. 9/11, the first big tsunami, the oil spill, the earthquake in Japan,Katrina, all the wars, The nuclear meltdown. It does read like something biblical. To evangelical Christians, this looks exactly like what they have been told the last days will resemble. And then this guy, who buy the way predicted the world would end in 1994, comes up with this judgement day prediction and its just like a powder keg, and it makes a lot of people go off the deep end. It really makes me wonder, how much can people take? Especially when the world is in such a bleak state right now. There is one other passage in the bible I remember, its for people to have faith and not be afraid. Easier said than done in the times we are living in.

This post has many valid points...and the signs do seam to point to biblical end times.

It brings up a question I have for all those who think christians
are totally mind controlled nutjobs.

Many healings have happened in the medical field ,after people of faith have prayed.
Even nonbelieving doctors have been witness to these miracles, and do not have a rational answer for them.

There is some concrete evidences that perhaps there is a higher power in the name of Jesus.
I don't have any links to back this up ,but I did see a program about it on television..and it had to do with the power of faith, and how people that had faith seemed to heal quicker, etc.

(oh oh.off topic I suppose)

Maybe you should amend your population statistic to 7,999? Not trying to be insensitive there but c'mon, I had forgotten all about this idiot till I logged on just now. A question and a serious point; what in the world is gonna happen to people, in your opinion, when we closer to 12-21-12, or is that too horriffic to contemplate now? I really hope not 'cause alot of people are buying into it. Preparation is always key.

Actually, the area around NZ is popping off with 4.0-6.0 activity all day for earthquakes, which is where Camping predicted. Certainly no big one, but the area is ripe for another big one on par with Japan.

www.iris.edu...

It has nothing to do with any rapture, and sorry if you didn't get rapped, but actually if you read the bible there is nothing called a rapture. I think that is a term that came into being in the last half century or so, if I am not mistaken. So if you didn't get rapped today, I wouldn't worry about it. You can still be a good Christian. However, from a scientific stand point a big earthquake or two IS in the cards.

Wow, OP, that sounds rather tough... frankly, I wouldn't have believed, that there are still people who'd fall for this rubbish.

Yep, faith helps, it doesn't have anything to do with Jesus though. It works as good with patients, who were given placebos, but were told, that those ineffective sugarpills were a great new drug an believed it.
If anything, this is concrete proof that you can heal yourself with your own mind and power rather than an outside source. But I'm sure, that program you watched skipped the placebo part...

Yeah, you should have called off!!

I hope you told them " Yes sir/mam, you're correct, you've been left behind. You're FFFFF'ED. Oh, well"

F-ing RETARDS!!!!!

Best response I've read yet.
Any moron who puts any stock in this crap deserves the Darwin's Waiting Room award. As for Camping....I don't know him well enough (nor do I want to) to decide whether he is a major con artist out for the cash, or if he really believes what he is spreading. Either way, I hope he keeps it up so that more of those morons swoon out of control from anxiety.

I was wondering the same thing
I came to the conclusion that he is not a con-artists just because all that money is going to do him nothing at 89 years old. He'll be dying real soon, either from a religious zealot that was taken hard and has lost everything due to him or just old age. Money does him nothing, and whatever he can buy with it... nothing would really help him. At most he can just buy medicare or whatever the US uses for health care.

There have been miraculous healings all through the world not only in the name of Jesus. You can be healed in the name of the flying spaghetti monster if you have enough faith in it. All it proves is that there are forces at work in nature that we don't understand fully.

This whole end of the world thing is kind of sad if you ask me. People are so caught up worrying about the end that they are not looking towards the future and giving up hope on their own lives. Its sad that someone would give up so easy on life because of someone else's words. Life is right here on this planet. I will personally worry about the afterlife after life. If there is a god out there that wants me to focus my life towards worshiping, they he/she or it can come down here and personally tell me. I will not take it from a book written by people. People are ridiculous and will write anything down. What kills me about the whole thing is that some crazy cook can get a million people to follow him spending all their money and putting all their effort into a ridiculous cause but you try to get people to stand up to a corrupt system or a real problem and they just, "meh.. that's the way it is." If we got a peaceful revolution going with the power he had behind that useless waste of money we could actually get something done.

Why don't you start looking at the clock at 6pm or 8am instead of 12:22 and then the problem will go away.

Really though. The tectonic plates moving from NZ up to Japan is lit up like a Christmas tree for the past couple of days. I really do think another big one (9.0) is coming soon. 4.0-6.0 quakes are happening every other hour.

And my back and jaw hurt like there is a huge drop in barometric pressure, and there is no drop in pressure where I am at. The only time my jaw hurts is when there is a huge drop in barometric pressure and things are fine in that regards, so it can not be explained. Also my dog has been acting very strange for the past week. Usually he only wants to come inside the central part of the house from the utility room when there is lightening and thunder outside and we have had great weather and he still wants to come further inside. He has air conditioning so heat is not a problem.

Forget about Harold Camping and his now dejected band of believers, there is enough evidence that another quake is in the offing and it is due to lunar and solar system effects. I think the next 72 hours is still a window of high EQ activity due to pressure that is occuring which is not barometric pressure, but some other type.
