No they weren't because the original Old Testament was based off of Sumerian religion (and probably another civilation before that)

People have taken this chunk out, put this chunk in, etc... all day

Plus at the end of the old testament it says it should not be modified or added to in any way shape or form, yet there is a New Testament...Torah...Koran... etc

So in blunt words.

All of our bibles, regardless of the religion, refer to the SAME GOD.

Not only that...it was written by people who wanted to control people.

In short, the Bible is pretty much sh*t.

For me, it was official when he spoke of false doctrine related to salvation and Hell. This speech does not surprise me. He is one of many "Christians" that chooses and ignores scripture to fit their world views. A biblical Christian believes all scripture is from God and checks to make sure their views and actions are in line with biblical principles.

You also might want to check out the Ebla Tablets, 4500 years old. It is clear that Canaanite myth has played a larger role than Sumerian myth.

The Enuma Elish, dates back 3800 years. Even the earliest fragments from the Epic of Gilgamesh, date back 4100 years.

Yeah but all true non-sheep ATSers understand that the text themselves have been skewed, added to, remove throughout more than a couple thousand years and that you can not take your religion by it's word and only what the intention is.

You can't honestly even quote bible remarks because it's a bunch of made up things. Even our USA bible is different dependant on translations from the original.

Let's say it was (at one point) the word of GOD.

That "word" has totally been messed up by now.

You should realize you're completely misunderstanding/misinterpreting the verse right?

The LORD never says that he will bless the nation. But rather Abram himself. It's a literal and cleverly figurative way of saying that his knowledge and revelation of the information he has been given will enrich the world in sum total. At no POINT does the LORD say that "I will bless your nation and those who bless it."

Hebrew is a very LITERAL language. And if you don't understand that, it would behoove you to learn and interpret it yourself to see what I mean. Or better yet, go find a hasidic rabbi and ask THEM instead of listening to whatever radio talk show preacher you're getting this from. It's an assumption on my part to be sure but I've never heard anyone else say something so ridiculous with actual intent.

Saying that America is a Christian nation is confusing to other nations, because they see what Hollywood puts out here, and the things that our politicians condone, and they assume that is what Christianity is all about.

There is only one Christian nation, and it is in heaven with Jesus Christ. It doesn't exist on this Earth.

America can't be a Christian nation. If America were a Christian nation, then no one would have any freedom. In order to protect my freedom as a Christian, I must protect the freedom of atheists, Muslims, Jews, agnostics, etc.

America was founded upon religious freedom, not Christianity exclusively.

Christianity + Empire doesn't work. (see: "The Crusades")

I agree that the Bible has been altered. However, having faith that God exists, I believe that He has preserved His message of sacrifice and salvation..the fulfillment of scriptures. After all, the message of His Gospel must be spread throughout the world before the end of times, and that would not be possible is humans have changed the message.

Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Who really cares??

If a person's religion is all you need to decide if they are a good President or not, I truly feel sorry for you. I also hate to be the one who breaks this news to you... but I do not think America is a "Christian" Nation. If it is, I have to give some serious thought to moving.

well pal i have to say i do agree to some point, that over time there will be parts that have gone missing, or were taken out, but the overall message remains, and that is the word of god. we all know what is to come, and we know that israel plays a major role, if you beleive the bible of course. if mr o is a christian, he will stand by the jews, in the final battle between good and evil.
