UK Goverment Ban Knives ???

Being from Canada, a knife is all I have.

For about a year now I have been carrying my Swiss Army Knife around with me, and you know what? It really comes in handy.

To tell you the truth, I have never had to use it to protect myself, but I feel more comfortable carrying it on me.

Call me Rambo, but I feel naked without it.

the reason i cant use the quote button with that is because there are 3 seperate replys. Anyway you havnt come up with anything directly creative and original, you have pointed out what YOU think is wrong that other people have said.

All i said is "this is what happens and people find it fun, because I know i do" because YOU asked me a question.

Also, what your saying is complete bullsh*t because over HERE (where I live) I can still do practical shooting because MY goverment has chosen to ignore what the crappy UK goverment has said.

Oh and another thing for you to think about - The UK goverment bans assult rifles and pistols, then goes and invents a weapon to keep the gun owners happy, that has a 12" barrel, and has a folding stock, semi auto, and can have a maximum magazine capacity of 50 shots.

Squid, this entire thread is made up of people opinions on what you say are proposals to ban knives. Lots of people are assuming, from what you've said, that the government is proposing to do just that.

Maybe we should back track a little.. where did you hear about these proposals? do you have a link? or are we just arguing against the alleged legislation that you think may proposed at some point? Offering schools metal detectors, and making knives illegal, are not the same thing.

Deceiving people about government legislation, saying they are banning things when they aren't may be creative, but it certainly isn't helpful.

Number 1 - I am not bitching
Number 2 - If you ban it your only taking your protection away, the criminals have no problem about getting them off the black market.
Number 3 - its about Knifes and I used the thing that happened with assult weapons and pistols to give an EXAMPLE about the pattern of what the goverment have done. You just dont appear to be listening to that.

And for Muppets answer as I said near the start of the thread, I heard it off the news that the goverment might do this.

I don't agree. I say it still beats criminals stealing them from idiots who for some reason think they 'need' to ponce about in the UK with them. Supply will not be coming from that avenue = a better situation IMO.

The goverment is not going to ban knives and it never will cause if they do there going to have to ban eating knife, cooking knifes, etc etc its the most stupid thing they could do. And if they did they might as well ban lighters cars, pool cues, golf clubs, amongst outher things as these also can kill people.

To true if you want to go extream ban coins you can chuck them of buildings put them in ammounts into socks and use them as a mase so it just shows how stupid our goverment could be if they went through with it.

Id like to know why governments ban things like guns

cuz its not the guns its the people, and lots of people use them properly

so banning them is just the easier way to get rid of a small problem

but no matter what anyone does, people will find ways to kill other people

Banning houshold items, such as knives, wont solve anything. It will produce mass hunger

Me and my brother had this convosation some time back we came up with a list of about 200 things that they should ban like pens forks etc so to get the point across how can they ban knives when outher things are just as dangerous!.

Bugger banning knives - ban Blair and his anal-retentive PC obsessed government. I don't know if they plan to ban knives or not but I wouldn't put it past them. When I left the UK for the US, I left my Swiss Army knife behind and I can't count the number of times I wish I still had it.
