I am basically talking about the feel of the music. Not so much the actuality of it, but the underlining message of it. Like is Gen Y male music uplifting or a kind of consoling(almost grieving) depressive type music.

Yes
to both...you have both types in general..
going with just male artistry then...any specific genre? Rock? Rap? Pop? Country?

Rock(rap is a whole different destructive type) generally speaking.

Got a massive variety in there also.
What do -you- listen to? I donno...generation y..hmm...do you listen to VNV nation? Good Charlotte? Sick Puppy? Papa Roach? its a pretty extensive list and rock is a very very broad catagory to begin with.

Also, the comparison list is very narrow...your asking to identify a massive field with a select few comparison bands, most of which are basically metal except for Alanis, whom is more like erm...pop rock with some surburbia appeal

Forget the background music and focus on the lyrics. I was using Alanis Morissette as an example for sad, sappy type music. Pretty much depressing music. And Kiss/ACDC/Areosmith/Metallica as uplifting "roar" type music. The kind of music that pumps you up and strengthens you.

You know...

There are times in life where points must be discussed with counterpoints.

Such as, we should respect chinese interests...why? well because (long explanation of reason, consequence, future prognostications, etc).

Then there are times when such things are not necessary.

Such as...Respect the elders of society
Why?
because if not, many people will punch you in the nose until you do

Respect the elders...doesn't mean agree with them, but respect them.
And should you be lucky enough to become one...you shall be given respect...and should some little kid say "your old and worthless", you are free to (I am pretty sure) legally smash them in their nose with your cane...thats if you can manage to do it before 100 others do it for you.

Its becoming a time where old wisdom is merging with modern technology. Dont let propaganda separate you from what the true path is.

According to the Professional Engineers I deal with, the young people coming out of University can't even do their own research, need hand holding, and have atrocious report writing skills.

You can even see it like places such as this and elsewhere on the Net, the lack of comprehension and writing skills.

We are certainly seeing enough evidence of that this night,
throughout this very thread. It's almost surreal the shrill
clinging nature of the emotionally needy. I'm reminded
of my time as a counselor at an Autistic summer camp.

When ever one of the camp goers wanted attention they would get right up in your face.
It must be frustrating to be incapable to express oneself in a more creative way.
I learned a lot of patience and empathy there, and always look for
the person trapped within the frustration.

But to hear of such decay in the engineering world itself,
... well, that's disturbing.

So, what do we do with all the empowered old people? Eat them? Use them to make fossil fuels? Send them to the Middle East and let them fight over Jerusalem themselves? FEMA camps?

We are going to have to decide what to do with them before we revoke their status.

And vice versa. Have one side talk about the old, have one side talk about the young. It works both ways people. See the propaganda? Its there right in front of your eyes. You read it for yourself. It manifested into reality. The old ostracizing the young, and the young ostracizing the old in the name of deception.

Ahhh Just what we need taking over Wall Street.

Anyone that will spend 5k on a stereo system, and 6k on rims, yet have to bum money for gas, for a piece of crap Toyota worth less than either, certainly knows how to handle the finances!

Aerosmith jumps back and forth..they have sad, sappy, happy, angry, and everything in between
ACDC is erm...well, they have a particular beat and stick with it.
Metallica is generally angry music for angry people
Kiss is erm...porn rock I guess you could say
Alanis is girly.

But not following the point...you saying the rock as of late doesn't match the same emotions? I disagree and could mirror exactly those same 5 types of music with current rock...lyrics, even style.

Also keep in mind that your list...well, most of them are still doing their thing today.

I can't believe people are still ranting on this thread.
I grew up in the 50's and 60's.
Music always has and always will be an expression of the thoughts , feelings and the way of life, as people see it at that time in their youth. There is always a beat, lyrics and a mood set to the music and song.
Music is like religion, politics and pizza not everyone agrees on the same thing.

(Continue rant)

MTV did it's Top 100 artists of all times ...... THE BEATLES WERE # 1

Because your generation made them think that money is all that matters.

No, respect is lost. Do you start initially disrespectful of a person and let them try to earn it off of you? no...of course not. you initially respect someone and visa versa and depending on the circumstances after that, it may be lost.

The "respect is earned" line is absolutely false...its monkey thinking.

People tend to speak from either education or experience. I take it you have experienced this first hand? Or are you a psych/sociology major? If you have experienced it first hand my sincere apologies, that is truly one way that the old can influence the young in the wrong way. It is a macrocosm. We will become divided against ourselves until the evil is rid of the organism. If the body does not destroy the cancer, the whole body will fall.

Reality seems to want to perpetuate itself, i dont see evil and destruction winning over anytime soon..
