Great divide our population even more. That way its easer to tear down society. So far we divide by race, gender, religion and now age.

Here is a concept oh wise one. How about we all work together for a better world.

Better yet come back in 20 years and we will talk some more on this great idea.

Ya, see, an adult recognises it isn't a single generation that got us into "this mess".
Intellect and wisdom are not the same. With age comes wisdom.

Are you suggesting that higher education is no longer needed? You think somehow this will improve the situation? Let me ask you a question...lets say you got shot. You have a bullet in your stomach and your starting to feel cold and numb...do you
a) go to a hospital where educated professional elders are at or
b) have one of your young friends with some duct tape and perhaps some plyers have a go...granted, he doesn't have them fancy degrees from college, but he meditates everyday...

Ya, thought so...now, that sudden epiphany you have is called life wisdom..you realize there is value in knowledge and experience real quick.

I suggest if you want to kickstart personal wisdom, finish university, and before going into the workforce, get a passport and travel the world...don't stay at tourist trap places, explore the real world..then come back when your eyes are opened to the world your in and give your opinions on the world...it is only through walking the walk should the talk even be considered.

What's wrong with being idealistic and open-minded?

That's what I don't get.

Supposedly, young people become jaded and cynical (like their parents, no less!) and accept things as they are.

Who made the rule that said that this has to happen?

I am young, I am idealistic and I will make things happen where YOU could not even fathom!

So, accept defeat all you want.

There is NO rule out there that says that young people must become jaded, cynical and ignorant over time.

Look sweet cheeks, you don't have to be bitter or jaded when you get older, but you will become a realist at some point.

We can't all be astronauts and doctors, and firemen don't get paid crap. I sincerly hope you never let go of the drive to change the world, I know I haven't. But you will learn that you have a sphere of influence that you can operate in, and the things outside of that sphere become less and less important as you realize you're just wasting energy and resources on it.

Call it what you want - I call it realism v/s idealism. Should there be kids in Africa going hungry when I throw away half a frozen pizza on any given night? No. But I also realize that I can re-freeze that pizza and ship it to the kids either.

But I can go and volunteer and donate to my local soup kitchen to try and have impact in my own back yard.

The question is: Are there 'competent' young people around? I consider about 90% of people under 25 to be extremely stupid. They live in their own fantasy world filled with Emo cliches, Anime and a superficial media oriented lifestyle. They don't know anything about life, they don't know #.
A World ruled by those idiots, whose only mission is to have 'fun' every weekend and get drunk every day would sure be fun...not.

I'm sorry, but i see those douchebags of todays generation every day. In Germany we even have younger politians and most of them are 'blablabla, change everything, make everything better' without even knowing what and how it should be changed. They're like the old guys: All talk, no action but they're even dumber, because they're lacking proper education, intelligent and life experience.
We will see it in 10-15 years, when those guys rise to power in Germany....i already feel bad for my country just thinking how the future will look like.

I completely agree with this post. The truth is that all of you folks who are in their late 30's early 40's and even 50's on this post indicate that you fear for the world when us Indigos take over. You believe that we are all jaded and greedy blah blah blah. Take a look in the mirror and realize that your generation destroyed things so badly to a point never reached in human history.

I will not allow a dumb comment like "all of you young people want hand outs" to go without response. I have never wanted a "hand out"in my life I have worked for everything I have so be a little more insightful as to the comments you make.

I believe that the indigo children will make life much better, feel free to contest my statement.

The problem I've got with the indigo's is that they view the world with rose-tinted glasses (for the most part) and seem to entrust too much in a paradigm shift to a utopia system. Therefore backing up their claim to be capable of 'leading' humanity

Sorry but while I do agree in the zeitgiest theory (different ages) I very much doubt the utopia is just around the corner. Especially with the ptb that really are in charge of our leaders...

This really is so funny, we, so called old folks , sound just like our parents. Been there, done that.
The more things change , the more they stay the same .
The truth will sink in , in time.

Yes yes..back in your day, kids had respect...they didn't walk on other peoples lawn, and they all had manners

Seriously...is there some sort of space virus that hits you and makes you turn into your grandparents at a certain age? heh...

Yep, there wasn't a utopia back in the late 1800's either I believe that was the last time one was to come about.

Simply not true. You may just need to have your sense of humor checked.

Todays advertising makes me want to vomit.

And what was your advertising like? What is good advertising? Because advertising today is based far more off of studies in to what attracts humans than it ever was. So, this one is just dumb.

Todays music is crap.

This is 100% true.

Todays writers have no imagination.

First off, we all know great writers don't generally get recognized until later on. A lot goes into writing a book and generally you have to have good grammar. Which means you probably have to be well schooled in writing. As far as books that have come out with no imagination (although not the generation in questions) how can you say the Harry Potter books have no imagination?

Todays cars have no character.

That's fair. But then again, today's car's need to be gas friendly. I'm sure the way a car looks plays into how much gallons per mile it gets.

Todays athletes have no respect for their coach their team or their sport and they all lack class.

Huh? Not true at all. Look at someone like Derrick Rose. Who are you talking about?

Todays people can't even communicate face to face. OMG !

Yes they can. There are just other, faster, means to communicate. This is a problem with older generations. Thinking that being able to be more efficient means you lack communication skills. Not to mention, the generation in question is 20-30. So keep it to that. The things that allow you to communicate without being face to face were not even around until the people from ages 26 and up were already 20!

Yes, my generation really messed things up.

Your right, kids in America are spoiled. However, this mass communication, which seems to be the main criticism of older generations, is exactly what will bring the world together. I don't know if you noticed, but it has already begun. Inter-connectivity with everyone in the world has changed the world, and will continue to change the world.

Young people tend to think emotionally rather than logically. Im almost more of the opposite opinion, where older, experienced politicians should have young advisors. They would bring fresh, new ideas into the mix, and the older politician would think rationally about the ideas brought to the table.

Anyone else have a "Children of the Corn" flashback after reading this? Whats next, kill us all off after 30? Logans Run!

So much for "Pearls before swine"....

What did I expect?...

Get in line? Of course not. We all have the choice to "break away": don't buy into the consumer culture, and become a slave to a creditor...(anymore that counts as a a radical idea).

I am merely commenting there is "nothing new in the Opening Post".Think we haven't All thought of changing the world?

I know very well every single adult authority figure from pre-kindergartenuntil now has told your generation how "special" they are. Now you believe it (what did we expect?).

"Changing ourselves is doable and at the "100th monkey"; then the world shakes out the old paradigm.
This "generational bashing" is as useless as the blind left/right bashing that continually goes on here.

Here's the funny thing: In the US you have people 50+ whining about how stupid today's generation is. Yet, today's generation is not only going to college, which a TON of 50+ did not because it wasn't a necessity at that time, but they are also attending graduate schools at an extraordinary clip. So, the stupidity thing really doesn't hold any water. The real complaint of older people is that younger people are not mature. YEAH, THEY ARE YOUNG. The younger generation will be fine WHEN THEIR TIME COMES. The time of the younger generation is not now.

yip-effing-eee.

I am going to start my own island nation..it will be dedicated to scientific persuits, artistic expression, and community work.

and nobody is invited without an extensive interview process and 10 years of probation!!! No religion, no pushing of magic or other such stuff for policy decisions, none of that....

This Gen-X'er is X'ing out of society..let the hippys and yuppys deal with these indigo and crystal kids and perhaps kill each other out...lets face it, chances are none of them can even figure out how to turn on a computer...dead weight and daft weight.

In all honesty though, I do think that some new blood is needed to be in power...no, not a freaking tween, but perhaps a mandatory retirement age for state representitives..really, a rep should be the median age of whatever district they represent ideally..

And ops...seriously...your arguing for a 20 something to be in charge? you need to be more realistic...for now, the 70 somethings are still in charge...we would be doing good if the 40 somethings were running the show at this point..but don't hold your breath.

Alas, we all were in our late teens/early 20s at one point, and yep, we all thought we were special and knew better than the rest.
my generation got hammered from the generation before me (the hippys), they got hammered from the nuclear family unit, whom in turn blamed the generation before them on why things sucked.
its a time honored youthful tradition to be grumpy at the generations before them, but of course, the pattern is years pass, and they do the same crap over and over...been like this since society first formed, and trust me, when you turn into your 30s and 40s, your going to have know nothing know it all's demanding they could do a much better job than you.

Just smile at the nieve ambition...ahh how nice things are before the weight of the world crushes you into dust

I have a word to finish this Quote off.
