The part that is sad about this is that people turn to medication first before changing their diet or exercising (shown to be as or more effective than pills in improving mood). The medication really is a treatment that allows the original cause to remain. Without other steps, people will not change from the inside, which is what is needed.

I went through all this with my son not to long ago, and when a doctor prescribes something (for ADD) for your child after seeing him for 10 minutes, said doctor can drop dead.
Of course they want us all drugged up! We behave better that way.
I alluded to the NWO but left it at that as it brings on a whole new de-railing window.
Between 1990 and 2000 there were 186 deaths from methylphenidate reported to the FDA MedWatch program, a voluntary reporting scheme, the numbers of which represent no more than 10 to 20% of the actual incidence... www.ritalindeath.com...
...There is some evidence that as many as half of all kids with IQs above 130 get below average grades, and in one study 13% of high school drop outs were gifted. In another study, a full 25% of children diagnosed with ADHD tested so high in creativity tests they qualified for state scholarships. I recently spoke with a consultant for the gifted who said about half of the gifted boys referred to her had been told they were probably ADD. Complicating matters is the uneven types of intelligence many people have. People labeled ADD often have a "visual/spatial" type of intelligence that confuses many teachers and parents. They might have trouble reading or spelling but have outstanding abstract reasoning abilities and become bored very quickly in traditional schools....
Gifted children MUST have an education that fits their needs. If they don't, they should be expected to act out or space out, and it is NOT their fault! Placing them on medication so that they can tolerate a more boring school is absurd. There are much better options available, such as home schooling, alternative schools and grade skipping.

The Hand that Rocked the Cradle:
A Critical Analysis of Rockefeller Philanthropic
Funding, 1920-1960
Brian J. Low
Past research into the mental hygiene movement in Canada and the United States has tended to view it in isolation from co-temporary projects funded by Rockefeller philanthropy, such as mass communications research. The mental hygiene campaign aimed to modify adult-child relations by reducing the influence parents and teachers held over children’s personality development; the central aim of mass communications research was the development of conformity of opinion. One a project of social engineering, the other of social control, the two projects combined appear to have possessed considerable potential to work in concert to shift weight in the socializing matrix from families and schools to the media at the outset of the post-World War II baby boom....
One never has to delve very deeply into the literature on child- rearing in Canada or the United States from the 1920s through the 1950s to find the hand of Rockefeller philanthropy supporting individuals or organizations involved in the production or dissemination of child-rearing knowledge, especially the Laura Spelman Rockefeller Memorial Fund (LSRM). Mona Gleason, for example, frequently noted the funding role of the LSRM in her
Normalizing the Ideal: Psychology, Schooling, and the Family in Postwar Canada.
...In this article, I argue that Rockefeller philanthropy fundamentally controlled psychological discourse concerning child- rearing and pedagogical practices in post-World War II Canada and the United States. The philanthropy’s officers were, in essence, funding support for a particular psychological approach to matters concerning children so extensively and effectively that they in effect shaped the consensus for the “modern” child-rearing philosophy...
Philanthropic funding supported the proponents of “mental hygiene,” providing them with institutional bases to legitimate their ideals of child rearing, and forums to present these, while marginalizing alternate ideals and alternate research into parenting and pedagogical practices by lack of funding. As a result, literature of the post-World War II period gives the appearance of almost universal expert support for “modern” child-rearing methods when, in truth, it reflects almost universal authority over child-rearing expertise by Rockefeller philanthropy...

I have this nagging feeling that the whole agenda about big pharma and government is turning the population into zombies with drugs side effects. That ensure a compliant nation, easy to manipulate people and slaves to the status quo.

Very nice summation. (I get too wordy trying to defend my positions SIGHhhh)
The rate of prescription drug use among children and teens continues to rise, with a new report from Medco Health Solutions Inc. saying that at least a quarter of all US children are now regularly taking pharmaceutical drugs. And according to the report, many of these drugs were originally intended for adults, and carry with them unknown side effects for long-term use in young people. A Very Special Thanks to GKing1000 for sending me this video: www.youtube.com And most especially to Neal Fox for your time, brilliance and thought to create it: www.wireduck.com The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports that in addition to taking drugs for conditions like attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and asthma, children are now taking things like sleeping pills, diabetes drugs and even statin drugs, which are typically only prescribed for adults.

Very good thread, I might have missed it.
Back to the topics at hand. I also think that we are messing with natural selection, as well as genetics. I actually met a mother who was giving her kid meds for psychotic tendencies, and bi-polar. He was 6. This to me is a form of abuse that we are now allowing parents to over medicate, and personally force feed kids that at the least, are have temper tantrums.
I would like to say "back in the day" we were allowed to scold our children, but now you can be arrested or have your kids taken away. which in turn makes parents feel like having them drugged up all day is better or dare I say easier to raise a kid.
I fear what the future generation will be like.

Peace, NRE.

Are drugs over prescribed in the USA? Yes especially when it come to young children who are still developing mentally.
You have to realize That some people actually need medication and it has improved the quality of their lives. You can't assume that it's all a scam to make money and these drugs aren't helpful. Pharmaceutical companies are a business if there was no profit what would be the point of spending millions of dollars to develop them.
but we are ingesting substances of which 99% of us have no knowledge of their origins and true intent.
Metabolism Conference: The History of Low-Carb Diets: lowcarbdiets.about.com...
....[lots of good studies]....
Jackie Eberstein gave an informative talk to help the physicians understand low-carb diets. I really liked her section about ketones (which are produced as part of fat metabolism). She explained how the body uses ketones and how the heart and brain actually run more efficiently using ketones than sugar....
Richard Feinman, professor of biochemisty at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine, and director of the Metabolism Society, spoke about how low-carb diets should be the one tried first (and if it doesn't work, then go to something different). He said that we know that no diet is better for obesity and diabetes, and that it's better than any other for many things. He said, "carbohydrate is not just a fuel; it's a control element" - meaning that it triggers insulin, which in excess triggers not only fat storage, but other negatives. He also said, "if you do a moderate diet, you get moderate results"....
Eric Kossoff works with children with seizure disorders at Johns Hopkins and spoke about the success they have had using ketogenic and modified Atkins diets for children with epilepsy and other neurological disorders, and how there is preliminary evidence that they may help some adults as well...
I talked to a man who has been diabetic for 17 years. He brought his HA1C from 18 to 5.2 by eating low-carb. His doctor tells him that he is "cheating" to do it with low-carb!

Cancer Prevention
Grass-fed beef has higher concentrations of conjugated linoleic acids (CLA), which are fatty acids believed to decrease cancer risk.
According to a study by Agricultural Research dairy scientist Larry Satter free range grass fed cows had 500% more CLA in their milk than those fed hay or silage.

Heart Health
Grass-fed beef is higher in Omega-3 fatty acids, which have been found to reduce risk of heart disease. Only grass-fed beef is recommended by Food Standard Australia and New Zealand for beef to be considered a source of omega-3 fatty acids.
