Ok here are the pictures, the area where the domes are is called Al Maha Forest, its surrounded by a green fence and is signposted as Forest Greenbelt, they are planting and growing trees in there and you can see this through the fencing, we spotted round 8 of these domes which are raised and made from concrete, its definitely something to do with preserving the environment, regrowing trees and such, nothing sinister, the road grid areas that you see on google look dissused as the actual forest looks pretty much deserted, we saw no signs of vehicles or anything and some of the roads inside had been covered over with sand over time, there looks in some of the pictures like they are attempting to construct a new dome, my view is this is nothing sinister.

From the picture of the gate with the sign its the local Abu Dhabi Municipality project and conservation.

I think you are right.
He is a picture of the actual dome that looks like the dome in google maps.
It seems it is an eco city.

You can even see the winding road that goes around it in the small pic at the bottom.

Hi, it's my first post
I live in the UAE and reckon these domes are near the Zayed Military Academy. Great MSM piece on UAE mercenary forces from Blackwater here: www.nytimes.com...

Gives me a sense that UAE is worried about Iran and the overflow of revolution around the region.

My 2 cents is that they are missile bases as Iran is about 50kms across the Strait of Hormuz.

After running across this thread', it sparked me to do some research on the matter, and I have come to the personal conclusion that these structures and "grids" are merely a form of terraform. Either for scientific advancement or for personal use of the UAE. After running across a few things, this might also be a possible experiment to see if mass terraform is possible for Mars.

Again, this is just a personal hypothesis based on articles and sites Ive ran across.

I'd say they look like water storage tanks as well.

And it continues.
People reading the first post, and then jumping to conclusions like frogs jump to water.

It all means NOTHING is threads can't be flagged as "SOLVED", or some equivalent.

It didn't even take the 2 weeks I originally estimated.

I think this is simply a case of the following:

- These water structures look like every fantasy bunker / silo in video games and Sci Fi movies.
- Most westerners enjoy speculating on things happening in Abu Dubai lumping it with many other hostile places not really realizing it isn't a very hostile place...
- Most humans simply don't trust people who don't live like them.

Combine these three things and it is just too much for many to swallow the mundane water tower theory... BUT...

This is anything but mundane! This whole greenbelt project is nothing short of amazing. The time money and engineering required for such an undertaking of "Greening" the desert is phenomenal. I can appreciate how fantastic this whole undertaking is and would really like to see more details on how these structures work along withthe entire system just because it is so freaking cool!

Take a look at the palace down at the water front,,, no shortage of money.
and the super airport design 24°38'52.92"N, 55° 6'3.56"E with no planes!.

The cost of steel in the fence alone to fence this area in civpop's images, imagine!.... one hell of an expensive green zone...... yes they look like they are taping the underground water, imagine the amount of water needed to keep all those trees growing in the heat. Evaporation would be incredible , but notice at the end of the grids that a underground pipe is connecting to the palace area, water is wealth and life, the rulers would naturally dominate the source!.

I believe this is and underground bunker or a place where all the government will go when we get invaded or nuked! Has anyone see the older post from the scientist that had a link to a project he was working on making a domed underground living environment where plants grow and humans can live??

Recently I saw a Discovery Channel documentary about underground bunkers in the face of an "apocalypse". My first guess would be that they are bunkers of some sort.

The do not appear to be missile silos and I believe it seems common sense that launching missiles from submarines is much more efficient than having land based stations.

The domes do not appear to be of a communications nature either.

Through process of elimination I believe they lead to something underground. It could be a research facility, a bunker, storage, or as others suggested access to resources within the Earth.

Also I concur with the poster who suggested that they appear to be lined with solar panels, which leads to a notion of self sufficiency which would suggest either underground research of a permanent nature or bunkers for habitation.

If only there were water tanks like this somewhere else in the world, then we could be certain, certain that someone is camoflauging their missile silo to look like a water tank. Why drive on the tank?
