Assuming you're talking about a straight military invasion, I'd say it'd be extremely difficult if not impossible. Everyone is armed to the teeth
in this country, and it's a whole lot of ground to cover with resistance in every direction. I'm in the midwest, and I personally know quite a few
people with stockpiles of high powered weapons. But, to entertain the thought, if I had a powerful military under my command I suppose I'd try to
take over the coasts first. That way you'd have the sparcely populated heartland surrounded. I'd probably drop troops into denver to establish a
point of command in the midwest. You'd be able to take advantage of the terrain that way, and because its densely populated, it'd probably be a
little easier to campaign against. However, in all reality, I don't see much success still throughout the Appalachian mountain regions and much of
the midwest. Let's just say it'd be a long military campaign. You'd never be able to completely squelch the resistance to such a presence. Too
many citizens are skilled with weapons and outdoor survival. When you couple that with their knowledge of the land and all that, you've got a tough
enemy.
Ultimately I'd say it'd be impossible to accomplish in under half a century. Even using the tactics TPTB are using now you'd have a tough time...
Any change that's even halfway radical is gonna piss off a lot of armed people. Before anything, you'd pretty much have to knock out internet, cell
towers, and any other common forms of communication. *sigh*...really though, I guess it's pretty well under way as it is... Like many have said
already, you're seeing the invasion now. But, on the bright side, I'm confident they'll fail in the end.
