With the recent earthquakes and political and economical unrest going on around the world at the moment I've decided to make a B.O.B.
Although I don't believe the end of the world is coming any time soon I thought it was better too be safe than sorry.
So I'm trying to put together a cheap and light weight bug out bag just in case the unexpected happens.
I've got everything "I" can think off to survive for while but I was hoping to get some ideas, tips or advice from more experienced survivalist.

Here is a list of equipment I have already.

Backpack (obviously) too store everything.
Magnesium Flint Stone
Telescopic fishing rod and tackle.
Wire Snares.
Home made soda can stove + methylated spirit (For boiling water).
Wind up torch.
Dried food (Rice and noodles)
1/2 kilo protein powder (In case I can't get a meal).
2 crossbows 1 pistol type and the other a 150lb rifle type. (For hunting and protection).
Hunting knife.
Swiss army knife.
Assortment of medical supplies (i.e. antibiotics, pain relief drugs, plasters and antiseptic cream).
Water bottle.
Mountain bike with trailer.
2 billy cans.
Cotton wool (To be used as tinder).
Sleeping bags.
And a tent.

So if anyone can think of anything I've missed out let me know, but it has to be cheap because I'm on a budget or if I make it myself that would be ideal.
Oh yeah I should mention I live in a small town in the north of England so guns are out of the question unfortunately.

Oh BTW if I don't get back to your post straight away I'm not being ignorant I've been left holding the baby (Literally) so thank you In advance for contribution It's appreciated.

You need chickens and a rooster.(eggs, meat,breeding)
The need a book that has the knowledge of how to cure and preserve meat, and dehydrate your fruit and veg.
You want pasta and rice.
You want lots more, but this is a start.

Peace.
Meathed.

Good idea socks and gloves, maybe I should get some condoms as well I remember seeing an episode of bear grylls were he put a condom inside a sock to use as a make shift water bottle.

I will have to tell the wife first though in case she finds them and gets the wrong idea.

Thanks for your advice.

I've been nagging my other half for ages about getting a few chickens but she's having none of it I'm afraid.
Luckily there is a egg factory not far from me so if the SHTF I can do a bit of poaching there.

A few small strips of rubber, of the sort which car/bike inner tubes are made of,

It will burn even when wet, and is REALLY useful when you are trying to light a fire.

some paracord

A multitool, LIDL have got some cheap stainless steel ones on offer today.

They are not too bad, not fantastic, but good value,

They're a bit out of my price range I'm afraid, is there a cheaper way to filter water.
I heard you can use charcoal as a filter.

If the shtf. you can make a makeshift water filter, by taking a pair of trousers.

put one leg inside the other, tie off the bottom, pour in water at the 'waist', and it is filtered through 2 layers of cloth.

not perfect but ok in an emergency.

Homemade filterKeep in mind that this would be a precursor to boiling your water.

That will only filter gross contamination. It will do nothing for viruses, and little for micron sized pollutants.

Thanks that's the kind of filter I was thinking of.
But I think I will modify the design so it's more portable.

Yes, you must get a water filter. Of all the necessities in survival, water is the most important. You must find a way to source water or carry several liters of it to last you. Not only is a portable water filter needed you also need water purifier tabs, most portable water filters do not filter out all bacteria and viruses. Boiling water is fine too. And don't forget a portable radio/flashlight, mine is crank powered so I won't need to look for more batteries. Other than that your pretty much set. Heres my list according to my needs.

Water
Katadyn Combi - can filter up to 13,000 gallons with one filter
Iodine pills - to purify water

Fire
Firesteel
Bic lighters
Cotton balls in Vaseline
Flint from dryer

Food
Emergency food bars - Datrex and Mayday
Freezed dried
MREs
Snare wire
Book on Snare traps
Fish hooks and line

Shelter
4 Mylar Space blankets
1 Heavy duty Space tarp/blanket
Tent
Sleeping bag
Poncho

Cooking
Bushcooker wood/gas stove
700ml titanium cup
Canteen
Canteen cup
Canteen stove

Knives
Swiss Army knife
Leatherman
Survival knife
Hatchet
Pocket knife sharpener

Tools
Parachord 100ft
Compass
Eaton hand crank radio/flashlight with cell phone charger
Survival tin - has all sorts of things
Bandana
Duct tape

First Aid
Sutures
Bandages
Gauze
Alcohol wipes
Antibiotic creams
Tylenol
SAM splints
Aspirin, Ibuprofen, NSAIDs
Dehydration salts

Clothes
Wool socks - keeps warm even wet
Comfortable hiking boots
Athletic cold weather underclothes
Hat
Wool beanie
Leather Gloves

Thanks for the info but I have a couple of question's if that's OK.

1: What is firesteel and what is it used for and how do I use it.
2: what are MRE's.

MRE's are US Military issue "Meals Ready to Eat."
Firesteel is either part of the Old "Flint and Steel" method for starting a fire, or he may mean a magnesium block which is what I carry. Well it is one of my fire starting methods anyway.
