Most Christians I know (including myself) wouldn't really care.

Of course, it's completely different in the Middle East, since Mo-man put the desert on Full Retard thousands of years ago.

Once again, a nice example of the "religion of peace".

Unless you offend them, then it's "jihad!!!"

Both sides of this are just as bad.. On one side you have a pastor burning the religious text of another religion to call out muslim countries for not allowing.. Wait for it.. Freedom of worship.. ironic huh? Then on the other side you have people killing people that had nothing to do with the Koran burning.

How was the pastor preventing people worshiping ? I am fairly sure he did not go about knocking on Muslim family doors and demanding they hand over their Qur'an so that he could burn it.
.

You know what pi$$es me off? When you ask for evidence for every single thing your opposition says, but yet you don't provide proof of your own arguements, that are the signs of a hypocrit. So let me ask you, got any evidence he didn't goto peoples doors, asking people to hand there Quan over, cause in my opinion I would not be suprised if they already have enough hate.

Umm LOL?

That's as far as I got before the gag-o-meter took over.

You're serious I can tell

Oh boy, how deluded a world you must live in... Oo

This Pastor really only exposed the type of people that follow this "holy" book, that says it's a teaching of peace and tolerance. He showed Islam simply does not exhibit any of this, and it's murderous and barbaric, for a large amount of people. Yes, sure, not all Muslims are. Most people do not agree with the book burning, but burning a book in a free country is his right, and in no way is any "reason" for people to riot and murder. This is no different than the Muhammed cartoons, they did the same thing because of that. Islam and freedom simply do cannot exist together. They have to be tolerant of others, even if the others do stupid things, or say stupid things. If a Muslim got on video and burned a Bible, the Christians would not start rioting and killing.

Quoted for Truth.

If only the apologists would grasp this fact, and take this single most important post and understand it.

Easier to blame the finger than the itch....

Who is "they" cuz I'm muslim and haven't killed anybody, wrote any threatening letters, made a threatening phone call, or even GIVEN a damn about that crackhead pastor. He can do whatever the flip he wants.

Have you noticed? it's only the minority that do this. you sir, are absolved...

Please understand our basic rights before touting them around, people do your homework.

Freedom of Speech and First Amendment rights are not absolutes. no, you are not allowed to yell fire in a theater. You are not allowed to stand outside and cry for teh assassination of the President.
Anything that incites crime, violence, and creates danger is not protected under the freedome of speech.

So not only did this person knowingly violate our own laws

So you disagree with people in protest, burning flags.

While I know it's an abhorrent act, I do also know that it is a valid sign of protest which encompasses people in protest to show their discontent, and those who rally around calling for their incarceration or death are often considered outlaws.

Burn an effigy? Knowing it will cause mass discontent?

Boycott a product, to ruin a company?

Where does your 'incitement of a crime' begin where anothers FREEDOM of expression end?

I don't like the sounds of this....

ETA: Oh and just because you have the 1st amendment "right" to freedom of speech, doesn't mean you should use it, especially if it incites violence, rage, or murder. PERIOD!!

I agree. Direct incitement to infringe on basic human rights and propagating ideologies advocating it (such as nazism or religious extremism) is the only thing when right to free speech should be limited.

Quran burning does not qualify.

how to have someone killed without paying any money....
just get that person to burn a quran, film it, and put it on you tube with his picture and address...within a few weeks, that person is dead. this is going to put alot of contract killers out of business.

Intentionally insult over a billion people?

Now he has blood on his hands.

Why not?

Over a billion people are not standing up for themselves and are not actively weeding out the extremists that are killing thousands of innocents and oppressing their own people and yet somehow burning ONE book is considered wrong?

I'm not insulting you btw, i just saw strange logic in what you said...

Personally, I have to wonder about this little 'show'. According to the article on NYT, the church's site has had only about 1500 hits.
...

the event last week at the 50-member church was largely ignored by the news media. As of 2 p.m. on Friday, the video of the Koran’s burning on the church Web site had been viewed only 1,500 times

The streaming question the 'pastor' asks about is the tip off. I'd be curious about the streaming and who/what/where supplied and distributed this media to the muslims.
...

Before the March 20 service, Mr. Jones asked if the church’s Web site was streaming the event, according to the video. He was assured that it was

Why so worried about streaming? Perhaps it was to ensure wide-spread availability in Muslim territory with specific intent to render 'support' for our efforts in current middle east/Afghanistan affairs.

Or maybe he is a nut job, but he is pushing some buttons here don't you think??

Umm, you guys have obviously not been following M.E. issues. For starters, we have freedom of speech. Sure, what he did may not have been nice, but it was his right to do it. Just like how the Muslims in the M.E. burn bibles/kill "infidels" etc. Each and every time someone down in the M.E. does something like this, we're expected to bend over and take it up the rear without as much as a whimper. Guess what people, that's not how it works. If you wrong me, I'll be damned if I'll keep my mouth shut about it. I don't care what "minority" you are. Respect me, and I'll respect you. Remember, it's earned NOT GIVEN.

Well, the Muslim world proved who they are in the Netherlands (killing some movie maker for insulting their religion) then the protests in connection with the Danish Cartoons. I guess it was not necessary to test them again, we all know they are on the "medieval-inquisition" level as society . I my opinion we should have closed the borders long time ago for the middle-east immigrants so we avoid a conflict of civilizations, then respect them for their choice and let them be who and what they want, as long as they stay home - and also hope for a time in the future when they will be more tolerant and understand that the people have the right to believe different or change their mind if they find it relevant for their life experience.

Badwolf: Awww, but then you wouldn't be able to grace and "enlighten" us with your smartypant comments and cause arguments and then where would we be huh? I don't mind though really. It gives me a chance to fine tune my respectful arguments and comebacks. See it is possible to disagree without beheading the opposition
Have a nice day.

The Factt is, in Islam if you are caught with the christian bible you are killed. This pastor did nothing wrong, a book is a book is a book. and yes they would distroy the christian bible. Think how they are reacting in shear terror to innocent people.

I forgot about their American Flag burning riots. I personally feel the flag buring is far more offensive then a holy book.

Isnt syrias presient in ill health?

My point was...A preacher is a community leader.

He knew the potential for a backlash was very high.

Seems like throwing gas on a fire.

After reading all the comments and the time frame.

I suspect they rioted, then needed an excuse for the deaths.

This guy from Florida was a convenient excuse.
