F yeah .... why ? easy answer...because I am tired of being on the losing side

This is reality....ain't no fiction where the good always prevail.

Yeah yea yea....I want to do good, but I got a family to feed here. And "good" jobs never pay enough...."bad" jobs on the other hand pay handsomely.

Well... I wouldn't want to be a spy, but it would be interesting to work in one of their offices. I'd like to be a secretary for them.

I have noticed a lot of people saying that they would join the organization with no questions asked.

From the general feel of these responses it seems as if people are deluding themselves as to what they would actually do, how often they would work and how much they would get paid.

Please note, there will be no heroes or secret spies hired from any of your ranks.

Let me repeat that: None of you will ever become a make-believe, gun-toting, badge-flashing, secret-keeping hero.

Many roles would be simple data entry jobs, and would not have anything to do with your precious aliens.

You may be hired as a telephone console operator, directing calls to different departments.

You may only get to work part time or on limited hours, to save money. They are looking for un-trained and under-qualified people to fill monotonous jobs, and to do it as cheaply as possible.

You would get a measly pay, too, nothing even close to your 6 digit dream-figure, and dare I say it not even half of your $50,000 mark.

Sorry to burn your wings.

What qualifications/ personality should one posses for becoming a gun-toting, badge-flashing, secret-keeping hero?

iiii, etc is takking the issue too literally. No one here is talking about wanting to join the CIA to be a paper pusher.

The qialifications to become an agent, IMO, are the exact opposite of the proverbial gun-toting, badge-flashing, secret-keeping hero. In other words, if you profess to want to do that, you are disqualified. It's the same rationale for what oiughty to be used to hire policemen. If you profess to want to be one, that is grounds not to hire you. Don't think this does noy happen. The curerent King of Jordan was chosen to succeeed King Hussein precisely because he said he had no desire to be King.

The most effective secret agent types are Walter Mitty look-alikes who wouldn't get a second glance by macho, knuckle dragging tough guys who think they are cool. They are the non-descript guys who can disppear in a crowd, then suddenly be right behind you without you even noticing.

No, none of us will get in, but I have my application there just in case.

Absolutely! I would love to work for the heroic organization that took down the democratically elected governments that wanted to take away money from our poor, poor corporations and help their own people. And I hear that Chiquita offers every retiring CIA employee a lifetime supply of bananas, in appreciation of their hard work in South America.

I know it’s not the CIA but I once applied to work in the military, I told them I didn’t work on the front line and wanted to do something medical. During the interview they asked about what I was interested in, and then the interviewer and I got into a conversation about Islamic terrorism. At the end of the interview the guy walked out and 5 minutes later another man entered the room and informed me that the army didn’t need any more medics or nurses but could you people with an enthusiastic interest in terrorism and the Middle East to work in Military intelligence, we had a quick conversation about it. In the end I said no and I have never looked back.

No. Simply stated I was in the Military. I was in intelligence. I had a clearance. I didn't mind the work but I would've preferred something more physical, like the SeaBees. If they offered me a field agent position, not even necessarily secret agent type work, just actually doing something, I might consider it, but it would have to be very interesting and well paying. I would much rather work for the FBI or NSA as a field agent. FBI has more field agents and NSA are DoD so you'd be more likely to go somewhere interesting, such as overseas conflict areas.

And would jump through any hoop for whatever reason just because my owner told me to without questioning anything they say as i can no longer think for myself.

Clandestine Service and Professional Trainee Programs
Work Schedule: Full Time
Salary: $52,976 – $81,204 That's starting pay depending on experience and locality pay.
Location: Washington, DC metropolitan area

The National Clandestine Service offers two entry-level programs for field-based Core Collector careers.

The Professional Trainee (PT) Program is for applicants who have a minimum of a bachelor's degree but may often lack substantive work or military experience, and are generally in the 21-25 year age range. Upon entry on duty, PTs are offered the opportunity to gain experience through a series of responsible Headquarters-based assignments that expose them to core aspects of the NCS mission prior to joining the CST program for training and field deployment.

The Clandestine Service (CST) Program is for applicants who have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and several years of substantive business/work or military experience before applying, and are generally in the 25-35 year age range. There is a 35 year maximum age requirement.

And My Personnel Favorite is: Transitioning Military
As a member of the military, you understand the importance of a mission. Much like you, the workforce at NSA is proud, patriotic, and knows the importance of NSA’s commitment to keeping the Nation safe. If you are dedicated, educated, and mission-oriented, NSA has exciting career opportunities that fit your military training.

If you thrive on discovering clues that uncover hidden truths, a career as an NSA Investigator may be for you. As an Investigator with NSA, you'll conduct background investigations and prepare reports on your findings. Your discoveries and recommendations will help improve NSA's ability to provide accurate intelligence and perform critical national security missions.
The Government has some really Great Employment Opportunities and the Retirement Age, Can't be Beat, Plus in the right field of work, you get to see some amazing counties and other cultures and meet some Great People.

So far I have a good feel that many of you probably think along the lines of

its a job yea....

I asked a few friends and they said the same thing.... yes they would take it as long as it paid more then there current job and or had better benefits...

One friend who works all day with children said she would take the job... I told her she would probably being doing the same thing for the CIA...

"Does it come with more pay and health?"

I told here it comes with only a dollar more then minimum wage(just to see what she said)

"When do I start..."

I realised something... the government must be shopping the job sector heavy... it would be a ggod reason... we need more technicians

Well just crash the economy a little... we can tie them into contracts...

To answer some of the more negative comments... yes I agree with one exception.....I have never been a spy... I can only guess the culture , not know it..

bad seeds are every where the secret is the ability to pick them out then pluck them from your life.....

I believe in the end 8 times out of ten the good guys win... as for the other two....

Not no, but hell no.

I will not work for the agency that played a major role in leaving behind POWs after Vietnam, especially when there were deals being made to get them back. Nope, if they left those guys out to dry, then I cannot trust them and would not consider working for them.

absolutely NOT !!!

If I was the US President I would
disband the CIA. They are indirectly
responsible for over 6 Million people
dead since the 50's.

I consider them a terrorist entity.

Answer is no, no matter what salary
they offered.

Oh my gosh... I thought about this thread this morning. On my way to work on a local Memphis radio station, there was a commercial for the CIA. They were advertising jobs in the Washington DC area and it was like a recruiting type advertisement. I've never heard one before, so it was a little strange. It had a patriotic type theme kinda like the military recruitment commercials.
