It's Not 50 Year of age anymore, it was under the Old Retirement System, here you go from the Manual for Federal Law Enforcement Officers: Retirement
New employees without prior Federal service are automatically covered by the Federal Employees' Retirement System (FERS) three-tier system consisting
of the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), Social Security, and FERS basic benefit. Minimum retirement age under FERS is dependent on date of birth, but ranges
from age 55 to 57. After completing five years of qualifying overseas service, FERS participants may be eligible to participate in the FERS CIA
Special Category retirement system. FERS Special allows an employee to retire at age 50 with 20 or more years of service. That's through downsizing
and closing your department and no place for your particular skills, if you're un-retrainable.
Additional information about FERS and CSRS is available at www.opm.gov/retire
Now to answer your staement about Retiring a 50 years old,,,, The person or yourself would already have to be retired like me, you'd have to been
under the Old Retirement Plan.
Here is an excerpt for you: Because the CSRS was phased out as of December 31, 1983, there are fewer personnel in the federal work force who are CSRS
employees. Most members of the CSRS are eligible to retire at age 62 with 5 or more years service, at age 60 with 20 or more years service, or at age
55 with 30 or more years service. (Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters and Air Traffic Controllers under CSRS are able to retire at age 50 with 20
or more years of service.) Of course, there are other types of CSRS retirements: “disability” or “involuntary” or “reduction-in-force”.

Every one who has been hired on now, are under the FERS.system.
It's a Great Retirement, I've Had A BLAST and we still travel and we don't have to wait in line for TSA.
