This is the trouble with Capitalism.
You cannot depend on people to do the right thing.
Sometimes you have to regulate it
or set some ground rules to ensure fair play.

www.sourcenaturals.com...
$18.50 for 120 tablets
$35.50 for 240 tablets

I bought a bottle of Source Naturals Inc.
Scotts Valley CA 95066 Sourcenaturals.com
Potassium Iodide 32.5mg from a health food store
a few months ago for about 7.95.

It has more than doubled but still nowhere near prices mentioned by the OP
Was just checking prices so not saying Source Naturals has supplies in stock

Just an observation but I've had two calls in the last day from friends who know that I have KI stored in my survival stash. When I told them they didn't need to worry, they offered me money well above the cost for it. I refused as I'm not going to soak my friends but I'd like to point out that the best thing we can do is educate those who are freaking out. The media (as usual) is scaring the s**t out of everyone and common sense is out the window.

I've urged everyone I know to simply CHILL and don't buy into the media hype.

This is how the supplier takes advantage of the market price system. As people are scared for their safety they will begin to buy this. If the supplier inflates the price, there will only be a small proportional change in quantity demanded. People will continue to order this product as they see it as a necessity with few or no substitutes. This is called inelastic demand. If you would like to protest the price but you are also concerned for your safety then you should look for the next best alternative service or good you could spend money on.
You could look to take a holiday to a safe or safer region, or purchase an alternate prouduct. How much do Hazmat suits cost? Anyone?

I went to a nuclear weapons school in my early days in the military and I learned quite bit. Those reactors in Japan are nowhere near putting out the level of radiation escaping that your hearing from the media. If Potassium Iodide tabs are needed the National Guard or Reserve will hand them out to you for free. (Save your Cash) The U.S. Military establishment has lots of them is stock, believe me. The Potassium Iodide are not needed at this time in the USA .My guess is they will not be needed in the near future. If you feel safer, then by all means buy some. Most of that stuff on the market is fake. The ones the OP posted are the real ones. I carried that same brand myself with me when working with nuke weapon systems. I have some myself in EM kit I made, but I’m not taking them, because they are not needed.

When Shtf in this country on a super larger scale no one will be able to get what they need because of greed. The people selling this stuff won't be able to spend that cash anyway. The sellers might be surprised at the seizer of their supply by U.S Military Forces, thats if national supplies run low and the public masses need it . The military can do that, if you didn't know. If the situation get that critical you will get some pills either way. If it make you feel better. I'll make sure you personally get some if get to that point.

Coal burning power plants produce more radiation through the ash than nuclear power plants. If you live near one of these plants then buy some.

To preface my comments I not an expert and am in no way affiliated with any industry affected by this. With all due respect anyone flying off the deep end trying to buy this now should pay an inflated price. Before freaking out and inserting straws in your nose while submerging yourselves in a bath tube full of Betadine solution please read about what happened after Chernobyl and let history and common sense prevail. There was no containment vessel at Chernobyl and everything spewed out relatively quickly-it was by all accounts a lot worse than what is unfolding in Japan.

Chicago is 6299 miles away from Japan. LA is 5471 miles away. My wife was in Aarhus Denmark during the Chernobyl accident. Aarthus is 1263 miles away from Pripyat. She did not take any Pot Iodide pills. She did not even know to douse herself with Betadine or eat a lot of salt. While the "cloud" moved east Aarhus did not take a "direct" hit. Several other countries did. Do the research and see what happened to people in countries a lot closer to Pripyat than we are in the US to Japan. Most of the increased cases of thyroid cancer were in what is now the Ukraine and Belarus. If you are living in Japan, maybe China, or on an island off the coast I would be concerned. It is interesting to note that Poland did proactively distribute Pot Iodide pills and did not see the thyroid cancer spike. Wlodawa Poland, a border town, is 441 miles from Pripyat. Warsaw is 525 miles from Pripyat.

Before we all rail against the man and condemn the profit mongers lets count to ten and think about what is reasonable. There is nothing wrong with being over prepared but lets try to get into the habit of thinking and making rational decisions. There will come a time when we all need to take a deep breath, think and act quickly and it scares me that I will be out there with most of you.

Thanks for your response. It should be known that I don't own the Iosat or ThyroShield brand. I am just a distributor like everyone else. The difference is that for the past 12 years I have been willing to buy $100,000 of potassium iodide at a time in order to get the absolute best price on the product. Then I wholesale it and retail with a fair mark-up. I certainly wouldn't have canceled 880 PAID-FOR guaranteed Amazon orders (worth tens of thousands of dollars - multi pack orders) in order to find a person stupid enough to spend $400 on a pack of pills. Why would I give up thousands to make a few hundred? Makes no sense. If you go on Amazon you WILL see an image of Nukepills.com superimposed one of the packs. But that image was just snatched off my website. I hope your readers will do the research to find and OUT the companies who are price gouging. After all, why would I donate and ship 50,000 tabs ($35,000 retail value) to Japan on Monday and then try to gouge anyone. See story here: www.cnbc.com...

you would be stupid to not price gouge.

business is still business, ESPECIALLY in times of crisis.

Oh hey, it is! It's called supply and demand. No one here in the USA is suffering from exposure to radiation, yet anyway...

You want, I got it, you're gonna pay for it.

EVERYONE wants it????

Well, whose got the most dough???

I hope people on this board aren't these idiots that are buying Potassium Iodide? Honestly, these people aren't thinking logically. A nuclear mishap would have to occur in, or around your city for you to be contaminated enough to take Potassium Iodide. So stop buying the pills, and paying for Government agendas.

"Caveat emptor." Timeless advice. I worked in the natural health industry for a while and always knew they were not necessarily the benevolent purveyors of wellness that they so desperately wanted their customers to believe. Hope the stuff won't be needed wide-scale anyway. But in the future, people need to remember greed is whore! What are you?

Well said, I can't agree more. The pills are the property of the sellers, they can sell their pills at any price to anyone they please. Theres no right or wrong here. Although I wouldn't price gouge at such a tragic time, I also don't condemn the practice. They can sell each pill for a million dollars for all I care, it belongs to them, and as such is up to them to do with their property as they wish.

Just because they put their prices out of YOUR reach doesn't make it unethical or criminal.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it appears that you are ranting about the company nukepills.com when they are not the ones at fault here. You call him a jerk yet fail to see that he has explained the error.

1.) Why wouldn't you gouge at such a tragic time ?
2.) If you don't condemn the practice, then why ... look at question #1

I wouldn't gouge because the items are mine to sell, at whatever price I see fit. Must I always act on something that I don't condemn? The pills are the property of the suppliers, who are you to designate the price for them? Consumers do not have the right to attain property of others, nor delegate the prices of them.

Let me rephrase what I am asking.
Why wouldn't you price gouge at a tragic time like this - FEEL BAD ABOUT IT ?

No, I wouldn't feel bad if I did, it is after all my property. I can keep it, sell it at a cost, raise it to astronomical prices. Why would I feel bad about it? Just because I wouldn't do it doesn't mean its driven by guilt. I just feel that there is no need to raise prices so high.

Anyone silly enough to run out to buy it deserves to be ripped off. Just what did you intend to do with it?
