Evacuation has started today, but we'll be going tomorrow on Saturday to Washington, then California. We might not come back here to Japan anymore, my parents think it's no longer good, but it's still a chance. By Tuesday, they say Atsugi and other Naval Bases should be dependent-free. Everyone I know is evacuating to somewhere in the states, because according to them, when they get sent to Seattle or LA, they can go anywhere in the states because those payments will be payed back to them. Looks like everyone I know in Japan will get separated. And just to think just this week everyone was together eating at the cafeteria (they wouldn't let anyone off-campus) and here we are now getting separated from each other. Well, I guess it's for the best. Wish us luck guys
!

I'll be on ATS from time to time to day to update

Are they really that stupid? I grew up military moving all over so I know what it is like but I cant believe they would take you from one disaster area just to live(or not) in another. According to many predictions Cali may be hit this weekend and hard. Good Luck and Be Safe.

hi iAnjo,

just caught up with all your posts... so pleased you're getting away soon... must be difficult splitting from those you know & care for

however, i'll say this - after all these years, something i've come to appreciate from that kind of separation, is that as long as i know my friends are truly safe & content in their lives - wherever they may be - that's a small price to pay, & i'm happy with that, though i miss them

the strong bonds that very close friends forge, keeps the relationship alive & functional - even at great distances...
i'm sure you'll keep up regular contact... hopefully you'll all get together again in the future

good luck, be safe & well!

iAnjo it is hard suddenly being split up from your friends with no real chance to prepare yourself for it. Facebook and all that can help you keep in touch, and who knows? The way fate works is really odd sometimes; you just might run into a few again.

Bad news, Air force screwed us over. We're here stuck in an airport, we were all headed to Seattle, then last minute our flights got cancelled because of their evacuation. Now we have to stay at this death trap even longer, we have to head back all the way home (a long drive) because of all this. We're not even sure if we'll leave Japan anymore. Evacuation flights are packed and delayed. Such a hassle..i'll add more detail later..

Dude, that totally sucks. Figures they would frak it up somehow. Leave it to TPTB to make a mess out of everything.

I hope you get out of there sometime soon.

Equivilant to an X ray or not, have you never noticed the medical staff leave the room when they give you an X ray?

They dont leave the room for no reason!

They leave the room because the give 100 xrays a day everyday for their entire career, that's a bunch of radiation for one person unlike the patient who may get an x ray a few times a decade.

i dont think so! even dentist who give out 0-10 xrays a day, leave the room.

since you're japanese could you give some links to japanese forums whre things are debated in english ? looks like you are the only one in this thread ? Do you think things like ICQ/messengers would be good to get in contact with local japanese people, and if thats a way to donate and help, dual-individually so to speak. Among other things to distrust is probably some of the org's that collect help. (often accumulated things dont spread that easy again, well apart from radioactivity, that should be contained, sorry)

dontyou thik its a bit lame to put 6 reactors so close to eachother, not to mention close to 4 fault lines/tectonic plates. dont wanna mention terrorism, but even knowing japs are pro's, it doesn't sounded a good idea even 40 years ago. probably GE did not mind at all back then.

Face the future and be judged, knowing you did right, with relief.

Shut up.

Seriously. You have no damned idea what is going on in japan, and you certainly have no bloody right to be trying to goad people into panic.

I've had it up to here with the melodramatic fear mongering on this site.

yeah, dayknightmare, who are you to say we're gonna 'be judged' ? you judge his parents to be idiots ? all parents care for their kids. though i agree a little, as they put him in a military base in the first place..

vox> i guess this site could be referred to as 'a serious joke' not sure yet. here is another example ats is a waste of time, dude's got a nice red skull for avatar and post a 1liner like that. ats is stranger than fiction, what to make of it..
